This post is mainly about the poll, but I'll make a little introduction about why I ask this poll. and maybe someone can solve some of my doubts.

Theme Poll:

Every time I try to do a modern setting game-story I see myself strolling to incest, and that is not a safe income route as it seems lately. And the only way one can finish a game is to make something they like (without income, at least). And well, market is infested with modern thematic. I can guess that the plenty of modern outfits/enviroments on the market made it easy for developers to make modern inspired games, but as a 3d content creator I have no problem making other themes.

While I'd really like to make historic/fantasy historic/sci-fi thematic game, but as a creator I have so many ideas that I don't know where to start, so that's why the poll, and expecting some feedback about what's more interesting, a little discussion about what have more possibilities to it.

Acclaration about options:

-Classic Age is put with Bronze Age because "Classic Age" only belongs to little zones while everybody in the world at the same time still had bronze age vibe to them.
-Stone Age with fantastic connotations to make it more alluring/wide.
-To anybody that doesn't know about hard sci-fi/space opera difference, summarized, space opera has humanoid aliens aplenty, hard-sci fi don't.

About me/why I ask/Patreon-Steam-other things:

So i've been years learning programming and 3d art, selling asset here and there, but competittion is fierce and one can't easily compete with much lower income countries... and I think if I don't start to make real money in the mainstream market I'll have to open the NSFW gate to try. I've tried making SFW games but the programming criteria for make something nearly good is quite high, and I'm more an artsy guy; after two-three months of work I usually find myself stuck on heavy programming issues that just demoralize me. In summary, I'm quite selfdemanding in terms of quality, and SFW game market is just too high if you have a morality and don't make just asset flips.

I'm not quite the patreon guy... I don't like half done betas, I couldn't not see myself as someone trying to get monthly money in exchange of a demo and promises without delivering complete games. I'd rather like to just sell finished games on Steam but it seems like adult games on steam are... randomly allowed/dissalowed? I don't even understand what is permitted and what not after reading several things... But I think I could use Patreon if at least I publish a finished little game just at start.

So The plan is make a little finished good game just to show art quality/original gameplay, and show a finished product, put it on a safe platform where I can find some revenue for my work, that my game will not be obliterated withouth warning, and by miracle see that my work is welcome and there is some money in the future to be made. (Maybe patreon users can advise me about the security of the page because I don't find much information) Nor about Adult games on Steam).

About the visual style of what I could work on, I can do from realtime 3d to Daz3d (but custom characters (100%) and custom clothes (30-50% ), 2d rendered or 3d realtime depends on what kind of gameplay is to be offered. PS: forum won't let me post images.

Please, Nobody take offense if I seriously misspelled something, English is not my native.

You should make the game you want to make with the themes you want to make. It will show in the creation of the game and regardless of themes and you'll get patrons.

I realize incest is currently the king around here, but it doesn't always have to be the case. Especially because patron banned lewd games involving incest, so you have to jury rig the content to be your "landlady" anyway.

I would make a small project to prove your skills and then maybe move on to the community driven one if the goal is to generate an income. So long as the content isn't too fucked up (scat or snuff or what the fuck have you) it will generate interest.

And at the very least, if the goal was to make the most money off a lewd project then you're looking at making a furry game with the gambit of gay, straight, and trans content; For whatever reason the furry community has a fuckload of money to throw at the shittiest of games that cater to them.

I feel you, Anyway along the years the only "furry" aspect I could do in any game/art of mine is Space Opera related (aliens..).
As I said in the post, to finish a game you have (at least me) to like the theme your are working on, so the themes I ask in the poll all are themes about thinks I like to do (daz3d clothes that I already make, or gameplay loops that I like to do). As example, I'm very interested in make a prehistoric tribe simulator/survival. But there is so much themes I like to do that I'd like to ask first about general feeling. My daz3d render gallery goes up to 3.500 renders so I tried a bit of everything.

I have problems focusing without some sort of guidance/feedback but didn't found the community where find people to talk about those things. (never tried before today). So here I am getting as I said a general feeling first...

PS: there is a problem uploading files or it's just me because I'm new at the forum?

You need a certain number of posts to post links/attach image files. I think it's 5 or 10 but I can't remember.

If you're looking for other adult forums or information, check out as it has links to many adult content forums.

I do find it interesting that 3D/Daz games using these themes seem to get abandoned more frequently.

Is that so? There is so humonguos catalog of halfdone games since Patreon kick in that I have not idea what projects are abandoned. Is there a list anywhere?

I got quite an idea for a medieval little game... working on it right now... If I abandon it... well, it will be like 70% of my projects that are not android games x'D... Well... As Is a just little game to show potential, I'll cut where if I see is boring me down.. is around a 100 hours project I hope .. so fingers crossed.

I voted for modern because I would like to see more variety in settings, locales and plots. There are many unexplored possibilities.

One of the issues I often have with historical/fantasy games is the clothing. It's either totally off or not very well done. I'm also not a fan of skimpy armor, unless it's something akin to Conan setting. Sci-fi setting is better in this cause everything can work there.

Another thing with historical setting is that few devs actually do the research to make it believable. So if you did manage to achieve that, It would spark my interest to be sure. Or I would be down with a parody.

There are not many well written fantasy/sci-fi games so more would be appreciated.

As for realtime 3D. If you can do one that doesn't look ugly and has some substance, you'll have an audiance no matter what you'll do.

I'd say go with what you're most comfortable with.:)

I'd love to see a well written cyberpunk-themed sci-fi game. Deus Ex the porn game ^^
But as others have said before me, you should go for what you're interested in and comfortable with.

Well, any but modern, porn games in general need more quality titles in varied settings.

About historical clothes and theming, I'm a fan of Crusader Kings II so if this litle game doesn't suffer an unexpected cancelation (due a job I'm waiting for that I don't know If i'll get), I think it will itch your spot.

I show you the work I done today with the main character. The only part I made myself is the tabard and heraldry. (apart from the character itself that is custom modeled/textured) Its seems like I have enough daz clothes for a lot of characters... and there is a lot to be customised. The protective neck leather is from a spacesuit, for example. I'm having a blast this week with Kingdom Come Deliverance so the character has 4 layers of clothes on full armor. Also, I established what I think is a reasonable penis size. I was wondering hard this days on what is a reasonable penis size on Daz.
Patrik1b.png Patrik2b.png Patrik3b.png

. Tabards are essential part to 1) make easy characters and 2) differentiate them well. In others aspects, I made also the squire... I need to model a big squir-ish backpack and next I'm going for some ladies. The story in big brushes is done. And no gratuitious skympy armors... nor women in armor in fact.

PS: Metal armor reflection in this image are just a test, the shiness of the metal has to be adjusted per render basis.

So so far, so good.

Some years ago I tried to make some cyberpunk characters, but I dropped fast, because in bionics details, if you don't go full daz stock, there is a lot and a lot of modelling. Too much.

Any of those themes/settings would be a refreshing change of pace from the modern settings (including school setting).
Of the given options i'd lend towards Space Opera and Medieval. Not listed, maybe High Fantasy or Military Sci-fi.

Besides themes/settings, what type of game do you have in mind? For example, will it be a story-driven choice-based game or a sandbox grinding for stats & money type of game?

Understandable. I've done a search for " " myself at the DAZ store. There's some good assets that shows up, but there is indeed a lack of it.

Wow, you are really good! Beautiful work on that tabard!(y)

I too am a fan of CK2 and KCD, so it does sound like something that would be right up my alley!:)

Taking in count that I draft the story today, but I've been wondering about some gameplay mechanics these days wandering what game to do, and, very having in mind that this is a little game mind to be finished in less than 2-3 hours if the game mechanics works well.

This little medieval game, told without grace (as plot may varies and I'd like to reserve some surprise), it will be a clear final goal need to be acomplished, and the step to take to it, varies. There will be at least one, but I want to put two, gameplay mechanics; Combat (some kind of minigame), and maybe, warfare (a very very little strategy simulation). Ideally, a player could advance in plot with dialog, combat, or seduction if the rival is femenine.

Lewd encounters will be represented in the game as humoristic points, story related, or a way to complete an objective, but are technically not the point (the story) of this game. Also, they will be regarded for player exploration (I mean, right answers, and a second gameplay so one knows more where to look to find them).

PS: The gameplay mechanics like combat are included for the purpose of showing programming capabilities for complex games, and why not, fit the story, and are a time sink. (but not grindy, as I said, I don't think a single gameplay will be longer than 2 hours.

One thing I would consider is if you want to make a game with porn or a porn game. The distinction may be minor, but it will determine if the focus is on gameplay or the erotic parts. I drop so many asian games because they have cookie cutter combat that bores the shit out of me and you have to do it like 1,000 times to get anywhere. I can stand some basic rpg combat if it's not done to death and serves some sort of purpose. I have yet to play an adult themed rpg combat game where the combat was actually fun, BUT I have played a few where it served a purpose and didn't wear out it's welcome.

For most new game makers I would say focus on the erotic part and have the gameplay serve to move things along in the story. Meaning, don't let it get in the way and become a chore. From the sound of it, you have some experience under your belt. So if you can make a fun game with adult themes, have at it. Good luck.

That's a very interesting topic. It's easy to me making plots/stories and great quotes but not so much as script writer, it tires me much, so taking into account that will be not dialogue heavy (and I have to learn to write in sex conversations because.... because at the moment I'm terrible at. I just prefer to put diverse animations to select and even tied in with a energy/cum mechanic than... make sex conversations?). As I was saying, not dialogue heavy, some combats (nothing to do with rpgmaker cookie cutter combats... I'm previewing 8 or 9 combatants Maximum because every enemy will have his proper graphcs with animations), and as a total perv I am I gonna have to resist the urge to making 50 hours of work of sex in every position with every female in sigth, in order to make a finished little game.

So... really.. Exactly this introductory little game is an experiment and I'll see along the path.
