I tried this to see how the MTL was (might as well make my own opinion), and I was able understand most of the VN, but I have to point out a couple of things: First I have read enough VN's to recognize any tropes, and second, I am able to understand the characters voiced lines. The main problem here are personal pronouns, and discovering who is the subject of a sentence. It's enough to give you a headache.
Positive:
- Lots of time with your favorite heroine. That's what Amakano and Galge (bishoujo) are all about. Pure love all the way.
- H-scenes are vanilla, but there's originality and quality. You can read this for the H-scenes, they are good.
- Distinctive setting. It's a snow town, and there's all kinds of cold weather objects and activities. It helps with storytelling, and immersion.
- Great voice acting. All 3 heroines are seasoned veterans. It's a sure thing.
- Specialized production values. They didn't have a big budget, but they used it properly, specially in terms of visuals. Pretty good for 2014.
Negative:
- There's no real story in any route.
- The main cast is very limited in the common route, and it gets worse after.
- The MTL killed the already weak plot.
- This is 30 hours of straight up romance (slice of life and humor are weak).
Score: Amakano is a 6/10 with this translation, and I can't recommend it because migraines are a serious condition. You can still read this, instead of waiting for an English official release, or you can find something better with a proper translation, in this very website.
