March 3, 2021. Wow, that is more than 3 years ago.

February 20, 2021. Wait, so total development was less than 2 weeks?

$382 a month......for the last 40 months....over $15k....for a fucking game that some guy spent 2 weeks developing and has just been posting "wah, life is rough, sorry I'm not doing anything" for the last 3 years? And you dumb fuckers just keep shoveling money into it? Have you heard of hookers?
I wonder if Patreon per month earning even accurate at this stage, I doubt they are and are merely a presentation of past earnings. Nobody sane enough to keep paying unless you are money laurding!!!

Some people are literal money bags, that's a it, they simply don't care, on the other hand it's always funny when someone starts to count other people's earnings on a site that goes against supporting them. You won't see such people saying "please buy it if you can", only "look this Mf is getting money for free let's cancel him on a piracy sharing site!" Funniest hypocrisy.

Lots of Misinformation here.
The game was in development since around February 2020.
It got its first release on Apr 16, 2020.
Last build released on March 3rd 2021.

As for the Patreon, it is the artist's personal Patreon. It does not support or relate to the game whatsoever.

Monster Mind like anims...? ITS... ITS SO PEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too bad it's just Pokemon X Pokemon stuff, would be nice if it was Human X Pokemon, atleast Monster Mind could let me imagine it that way due to how ambiguous the character you play as is..

Where are you getting that the game was first released on April 16, 2020? The entire change log of the game on the dev's itch is this:
Screenshot 2024-07-10 083503.jpg

I wouldn't call it a "personal" patreon. There was little to no content posted to their patreon before releasing Amie Dungeon and offering early access content as a perk; a hello message and maybe 4 welcome sketches, IDK, not going to pay $5 to see the 4 no-subject single image posts from 2020 before AD was first released. And then a content/post rush again when AD was abandoned and PCL took its place with its substantially community-based development effort; an interesting business model, make your patreons pay you to end up developing the content of the game for you.

Are you suggesting most of his 80-ish Patreons were there for the occasional sketch offer? On average only 3 people took advantage of their tier-based sketch request each window, when windows weren't just skipped over by dev. Or do you think perhaps most of those Patreons were supporting the game development instead, since 95% of them weren't claiming their free doodle? When whatever dev-based coding of PCL game development stopped in 2023, so too did the other side-perks promised to his patreons, so dev's efforts to do anything on patreon seem pretty much entirely linked to only being active if he's game developing.

Sorry, I'm fairly blunt for calling out bullshit. Patreon as of late seems to be rife with people who promise shit, do a bare minimum effort, and then go "wah, things in life happened....but I'll keep my patreon active and the money rolling for years instead of turning off subscribers so that I'm not taking money from people for absolutely nothing". Admit you're retiring / going on hiatus and deactive properly.

Development logs used to be posted exclusively on Discord, starting with version v0.23.0.
Moody was and still is an artist before and after this game became a thing. The Patreon doesn't contain any content or reference in relation to this project. All content posted about this game was posted on Discord, for free, for everyone.

The Patreon was always advertised to support Moody as a creator. Nothing more. As for PCL, it was also not supported by Patreon and its community effort was exclusively for the community modded version, which is not developed by Moody. The actual up to date version of PCL is 100% made by himself and nobody else.

You mind listing them? I think I came across one other at some point but that didn't go anywhere either.
I can tell you one I really enjoy, and that is Pocket Dungeon by FerisLycan.
Even so it may be abandoned he said he starts on a new one, but that would be more text based than having anymations. (Also Pocket Dungeon is very kink based.)

Unpopular opinion I know... but notice how many Japanese indie devs just finish their damn game and release it... and many of the big western ones perpetually milk these services despite earning many times the amount and spending many times the dev time of games far superior to them (i.e. Hollow Knight lmao).
A ton of jp devs actually don't "just finish their damn game and release it". They do the same thing of giving updates on them while slowly building them up and get money on the side by doing art and the like to keep themselves afloat.
You will for example see a circle have a lot of products in their DL site, but when you open it you actually have like 1 or 2 games and a bunch of CG collections with like 12 or 40 images, which looks like a lot but when you open them it's actually a lot of text over the same image, the same image with some changes like a cum version or a motion blur version to show the characters are humping faster, etc.
Not to mention the ton of circles that just make 1 or 2 games and then stop because, at the end of the day, they can't keep themselves up just off the game's creation and need either to join the workforce, create manga, more drawings, or enter stuff like Fanbox (a similar subscribe system but on pixiv) where they can get money and also don't even need to bother with trying to code and what not.

Nope. There are some, but dlsite is 99.9% Japanese and it has enough doujin (indie) titles to have a massive section dedicated to it. A huge portion of the completed games on this site are Japanese. By comparison, the ero section of Steam and itch have comparably less complete games, it's a mess actually, and many that ARE complete on Steam are Japanese games ported over funnily enough.

Then you go to the top 10 ero games on subscribestar and patreon, last I checked was about a month ago, all were western titles and none were anywhere near complete, and that goes without failures like Subverse. I think a very few (maybe 2) had prior completed games or the others that did were like flash-level barebones.

In fact, many if not all of the most popular games on this site are western and incomplete. Some of the biggest ones are exactly that (Summertime Saga).

Sure, there are some Japanese devs that take forever and milk support, but in many instances they just make the game and finish it. The mirror big japanese games typically do release and the have a far more mature ero game (eroge vns included) culture to boot.

Not sure what you're talking about.

It must be said that hundreds, possibly thousands, of those indie games are 1h long crap ero games made with rpg maker, with bug-full gameplay and awful artwork. And they're sold for 5/10 dollars. They're called complete but they're no better in terms of content than many western early releases. There's also several gems, sure, but the very most range from mediocre to awful.
And if milking is a western thing, for whatever reason, they do have their special kind of scam, known as gacha.

I'm talking the average releases obviously. There are tons of indie crap and asset flips both NSFW and trad. I don't count those. But there are just as many of those that are western too so I don't get your point.

I think you're stretching with gacha, it's definitely garbage but it's regulated (for now...) to a specific type of game which does not often include ero games (but some have).

I think the difference comes down to Japan having a robust ero scene and industry while the west does not. There are actual circles and 'professional' developer groups that can make a living sell pron, while most western ones are either failures like Subverse that everyone laughs at or randamo folks slapping stuff together, and they have to be careful where they sell their games and what is in it. Heck, until recently, Steam wasn't even an option.

But eastern PC eroge go back to the 90s.

They have a robust ero-scene because japs buy ero-games. When they work for months on a nukige they have more than hopes regarding the sales. The western market is more unpredictable, so most devs are indie and they usually dont do shit unless they're backed. And they can afford the milking because there's money in the western ero-market too, but the consumers reward the wrong devs, so it's pretty much a dog chasing his tail.

Reminds me of TiTS, which has been in development since at least early 2014 and still hasn't finished the story.
