One would assume that Super Alex gained valuable insights from his previous project, wouldn't you? Too bad it seems that's not the case.
Renders 4/5 Firstly, let's begin with the good stuff, the Renders are quite impressive, that's the area where Super Alex improved the most compared to his previous project. The animations would be splendid if the developer wasn't so adamant about showcasing them, forcing players to endure several seconds of character introductions every single blooming time someone enters the frame. One could understand this for a character's initial appearance, but it happens incessantly, and even with all the "skip" options enabled, you're still compelled to sit through it. Blimey.
Plot: 0/5 There's another game out here in F95 that completely plagiarises this storyline. Comatose patient, mum/sisters, family debts, and so on. This is one of those rare instances where the imitation surpasses the original as this game is dreadfully slow, it redefines the meaning of slow burn to a glacial age. Nothing transpires! You're confined to a predetermined path for 98% of the game, with the 'choices' I encountered being "to peep or not to peep", or "to grope or not". News flash, developer: that's not a decision that impacts the narrative! Moreover, the 'missions' are utterly nonsensical. Say you wish to bypass the tedious and poorly written 'interactions' and get on with the ruddy game. My mission log states "Satisfy your hunger" with an OPTIONAL task of "cleanse your face". So I navigate the rubbish sandbox to reach the kitchen and, whoops! The game informs me I can't progress until the character washes his face! So by "optional", the developer means "mandatory". Roger that, understood.
Gameplay: 0/5 This is bottom-of-the-barrel sandbox material. I almost rage-quitted at the section where the mission log says 'Investigate the hospital'. So I waste 30 minutes clicking about, trying to suss out what on earth I'm meant to find. I seldom managed to figure it out. It baffles me why any game developer would pair a narrative devoid of choices and entirely linear with 'figure it out yourself' sandbox mechanics. Absolute worst of both worlds.
Characters: 1/5 The only remotely plausible aspect of the characters' behaviour in this game is that everyone treats the main character as if he's mentally challenged. That genuinely felt appropriate, given it seems the coma the main character was in completely obliterated concepts like 'basic human interaction' from his mind.
