So I make videos. One thing I have always been trying to balance is do I use subtitles are do I try to find ways to dub some pron voices into the mix. The dubbing takes time if you want to do it well. So I have mainly stayed with subtitles and moans and groans. With the AI getting better and better, there is now to opportunity to do voices with AI. That said I find it still is not quite right even with the more better AI engines.

Curious if peoples thoughts on the matter. Are you a subtitle person a voice person or something in between.

There are a lot of amazing voice actresses who doing excellent acting performances.

I think if you cannot afford they're talent for your videos (yet), you're better of with subtitles then AI generated voices.
Yes they've come a long way, but they're still not there yet (imo). Emotional voices/sounds and moaning etc. still sounds awful at least in my opinion.

My opinion?
In most overdubbed (adding a generic moan track) animated porn videos the voice implementation varies from crap to bearly passable. At best it sounds like porn actors going through the motions, which makes it very bland. On top of that, often the overdubs don't match the video and you get the feeling of a desync (moaning with the wrong intensety, normal moaning while giving a blowjob, etc.).
In those cases I turn the volume down or even off, if it's really bad. I reather have a silent video than a crappy sounding one.

The ones with real voice actors are of course better and elevate the video just by being able to match the visuals, giving it the extra it needs to sound good, but you might still get typical generic porn moans.

I have yet to see an Ai voiced porn video that doesn't pull me out. One can alwys hear the artificiality and even in good production they sound just as generic as the overdubbed ones. It takes a lot of time and work to add subtleties and nuances to Ai voices.

So, yeah, subtitles are a must if you don't have access to a voice actor, but even with voice acting it's not a bad thing to have subtitles. Some might not like the acting or want to watch in lower volumes or if the BGM is just too annoying or loud it's a must.

Thanks for this. I do find sometimes dubbing does not help as it is never just right, and to get it decent takes a lot of searching for just the right one. I find using just standard moans from games like SkyRim and others tied in with SubTitles for dialogue has been a mix I am happy with.

It depends on language.

I remember watching anime with subtitles and it was hard to see whats actually happening on the screen while reading subs. Obviously I'd prefer dubbed version over japanese one, but subtitles are better than nothing.

Maybe thats why I always look at girls chest, when talking to them. Looking for subtitles :)

I find it always feels out of place in games no matter how good a voice actor is used. I think the reason is the feeling of hijacking the control from the player rather than voicing itself, which is contrasted by the intrinsically interactive format of games. it simply can't fit (well) because the mode changes.

but for videos (or kinetic novels!), which already are not interactive, it works much better. but then the problem becomes the quality of acting, and the fact that even passable acting requires skill. it's not trivial to have that skill even for an actor, and even less trivial to artificially generate all the magic of 'being in the moment' that a real actor does. AI can probably improve this part, but until they become able to do contextual episodic memory they won't get the tone right. they'll instead generate SOME tone, convincingly, but it won't be a reaction to the current situation because they're not capable of it.
