Or for that matter any progessive mechanic that changes how a character will act/appear/speak. Eventually I probably will use more than one, but that kind of interaction is way above my skill set, so I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a tutorial or info source for this sort of thing?

You can just extract text/sources from several games where it's made properly enough.
For example, the games made by Pyorgara and Akabur.
And take inspiration. Anyway, making anything interesting is about inspiration.
Pyorgara, for example, uses 2 scales for reflecting the corruption: Lust and Self-Worthing. Combining them, interesting effects happen.
