Well, the fact is that I respect myself enough to not abuse of the barbarian word "vintage".

After trying a lot of adult games, I can't see any major points to playing 3d real time games over visual novels.
It has worse graphics, wants more hardware, needs voice over (and okayish face capture), harder to play (especially in two hands).

I feel like the quality of adult games stagnated but don't feel like the reason is the VN format, wonder what you think.

Those are a lot of good points!

Well VN's are a very different kind of game than 3D so both have their uses

I'm not a big fan of VNs myself. My favorite genre is probably RPGM or even text-games with visuals (not realporn). I like having interactivity with the game world, but not so much that it requires me to devote both of my hands to it.

A lot of Visual Novels have no game-play which last I checked is part of the point of being a Visual Novel as it has some degree of interactivity and game-play. Without it, to me, it just becomes a comic book that you have to install.

You all know there are "real" "offical" "AAA" games where the main gameplay is making choices right? I mean puzzle games are literally just minigames from VN sometimes

The answer to the question is an objective no. Check the highest (weighed ranking) games on this site then check how much they making despite them just being a "comic book you have to isntall

I could go into how some devs set up entire unique places (instead of the storebought default park/changing room location) including having shadows and other environmental details but a rando off topic thread isnt worth that much

I am a proud low effort Japanese HRPG-slop believer. The lows are low, but there are some legendary games under the RPGM umbrella.
