The reality of it outside of chest-beating "rawwwr, gamerzzzz" is, even a basic minigame which requires simple mouse clicks within short time limit get tons of complaints around here how it's too hard, annoying, unnecessary and that there should be button to skip it, and practically never comments how "wow, i really enjoyed the gameplay". People who play porn games aren't "gamers", they're literal wankers looking for a wank. Not really for something that gets in the way of that.
People are typically more vocal when it comes to stating they don't like something, or they've had a negative experience with something. A silent client is a happy client. That being said, if players complain to the developer about a badly designed puzzle, they may be justified, but assuming they're right, shouldn't the expectation then be to make a better puzzle, or make the existing puzzle easier? Not "add a skip button". I don't get the idea of skipping all the gameplay because a game is badly designed. At that point, the story and lewds better be exceptional, otherwise why play?
I find the best lewd games are the ones with fun gameplay and a great story in addition to the lewds.
In the end what I want is first a game, else I would go to a porn site and watch something there. And I am sure I am not alone with this, there is even threads with lists of games with gameplay.
This, essentially. I want a gooner game with good gameplay. There are gamers that consume hentai/ecchi content. It might be uncommon on this site, but I know there are plenty of others that share the same sentiment.
Of course, it's perfectly reasonable to want to make something that you'll enjoy yourself. Just as long as you're okay with understanding that what you find enjoyable turns away most of the potential audience.
By virtue of being a porn game, you're already losing 90% of the potential marketshare. Probably more. Of the remaining figure, you're losing another few percentages for every major fetish and genre you ignore or refuse to include, but that's fine. A game for everyone is a game for no one, and if you try to pander to too many people, that may also work to your detriment.
As stated previously, gameplay settings could always be considered for those who are just here to goon and get out. It wouldn't be a lot of trouble.
There are already a bunch of games doing the same old thing everyone else is doing. There aren't a whole lot of games that cater to people in my own niche.
Certainly, but also take note how the games which include these themes also typically include a "Submit" button so the player who is into the "sex on defeat" can simply get to what they're interested in, instead of having to pretend they're having fun "fighting, but not well enough to actually win".
There are also many games which let you reach that state by intentionally throwing the fight. There are also non-lewd active combat games with surrender mechanics. Turn based combat isn't exactly special in that regard. It is a thing equipment and/or settings could be built around to cater to those who want to instantly lose fights.
