I doubt this is the case, but its worth mentioning. Sometimes games can have a sort of mismatch with the expected screen resolution and what is actually displayed. Its rare and I've not seen it in this game, but when it happens you have to try and move the cursor around the intended target and see if it works from a near position. I'm not saying thats the case here, but its just a possibility and something to quickly test to rule it out.

Actually, I saw a seemingly unrelated issue, and tried changing Dynamic Resolution to 0 in the json file, and that fixed it. The other uses with a problem was using a 4K monitor, but apparently it's also a problem on 1440p ultrawides. New thing, though, how the hell do I pick locks? I press space, hear a click, then hold LMB and rotate left/clockwise, and the lockpicks still keep breaking.

Yeah, I'm doing what the tutorial says. I find the spot and it clicks when I hold space, but then the lockpick breaks when I try rotating the pick after hearing the click. Am I supposed to keep holding down space while holding LMB? Because I tried with and without holding space, and the pick keeps breaking.

I think the issue is that the lockpick breaks due to the amount of time holding spacebar and not actually moving it or using it. When you have a small number to use and the first one breaks so easily it can be very discouraging.
Once you get the feel of how it works its not really bad at all but there is a learning curve. Again, its based on time not work. If you hold the spacebar and don't even move it will break in a couple seconds. So I suggest making a save right before you need to pick a lock. Don't worry about it breaking just practice.
The key is to rotate it counterclockwise slowly until you hear a distinctive click. If you move too far beyond that it will not work. You may break a lockpick before ever finding this sweet spot so save it before trying every time.

And who's stopping you from making a save of the game before trying to open the lock, and if it doesn't work, loading the save and trying again to see if it works?
But be that as it may, the lockpicking system needs some work. Or a complete overhaul. Because despite the developer's assurances that it has become easier, it has not become easier. And, in my opinion, this is not the kind of game to make the gameplay difficult.

Cheat engine for lockpicks i think is a really vaild use. It's poorly explained how they work, and you can run out of them pretty easily on the quest.

Well... Maybe. But personally I (when I played this) used saves until I managed to open the lock using one pick.
It didn't save me time, but I got what I wanted.
On the other hand, this is not the kind of game where you need to spend a hell of a lot of time lockpicking, there is/was enough problems without that. Therefore, if I were the developer (there were a lot of complaints about lockpicking), I would simply change the lock itself , and at the same time the principle of its lockpicking
can anyone link me to the cheat engine download. having FUCKING!!! hard time trying to lockpick open the door in that one quest.

Sooo... is it finally possible to survive in the game WITHOUT Cheating?
I mean useing NPC workstations is nice to make some better stuff... paying money for it seems to defeat the purpose unless the traders offer far more money for the prepared items than before... which I kinda doubt after reading the changelog
