Might be a silly question to ask here but where do adult game developers stand in terms of Australian laws?

Well, it's a really complex question.
On one hand, there's the R 18+ classification that is now (since the 1st January) available for video games, but on the other hand there's still the obscenity laws. Did one had an effect on the other or not, and is this effect positive or negative, I absolutely don't know, and I'm relatively confident that near to no one on this forum would have the starts of a clue about this.
This mean that only an Australian lawyer can answer you.
After, there's what the Law say, what people do, what people fear, and what would be the sentence.
Technically speaking, and as far as I know Australian Law say that it's bad and you shouldn't do it. But globally Australians creators don't seem to care this much, believing that there's way more serious threats to the peace of people than them and the few bucks they earn monthly.
I do believe that they are right. Despite the obscenity laws, Australian is, more or less, a progressive country. The Law is applied, but according to the context, not strictly to its letter. Therefore, the worse you would probably got as sentence should be a not too high fine. Yet, expected that someone was bored enough and decided to investigate your incomes to discover what you are doing.

Yeah no clue. But my impression is that Aussies are even bigger pearl clutchers than in the ones in the US when it comes to sex. Australia tried to or has outlawed porn where the models breasts are too small because they look young (body shaming much?)
So yeah talk to a lawyer but my feeling is that you might be able to make a game just not publish it in Australia.

My impression was always that Australia is a pretty conservative place.
But don't know really since i never went there. Just reading and such.
Don't care too much about porn myself but there is always the internet. Oh, but Australia has one of the strict Internet laws as well. Oh well...

It's not the boobs size that is the criteria, it's the general looks of the girl ; more precisely she can't looks underage. So she can have near to no boobs, if, by example, her face clearly show that she's over 30, there should be no problems. Globally speaking, without make up any girl above 30 is fine, because whatever how "petite" can be her body, everything else clearly state that she isn't underage.
It's to prevent faked p*d*shit, and not really different from the implicit, "I don't care that she's a 600 yo vampire, she's barely pubescent", that come with the rule 7 here.

Ah thnx for the clarification. I really thought it was a lot more strict than that. (It has been years since it was on the news but that was the general feeling I took away from it).
Im about 100 years old, been an Aussie for more than that, fought in 3 world wars, dux of my school twice in a row, I am 99.999999999% sure no one, I mean no one, cares about our cartoony porn thingy.
