Ren'Py Auto-Forward Time

Hey all. In ren'py games there is a setting called Auto-Forward Time. Here is an example from Max's Life.


I've never figured out what it does. Can anyone tell me?

When you use auto-forward, it waits for however long you set the bar at then moves to the next frame. It's faster if set to the left and slower if set to the right.
Think of it as hands free playing.

Some people like it so that games play more like movies than like books.

It's works well for some VN's IMO.

Auto-forward mode was called fap mode when it was under development, but I didn't want to go with a name that was too on point.

Hello, been trying to activate this in Midnight Paradise and other games but with no interface button it's just not working. "A" takes me to the font override. Any hints?

I still don't understand this setting.
What does 'goes faster to the next frame mean'? You normally have to press the spacebar or click the left mouse button to continue to the next text/dialogue. If I put it on the left side, don't I have to click the spacebar or LMB anymore (i.e., it will continue automatically)?

Unless you activate the auto forward (generally the button name "auto" in the quick bar), that at its name stand forward automatically.

It do that the instant you activate the auto forward. Putting the cursor on the left of the bar just make it do that near to instantly. This while putting the said cursor on the right side let you enough time to drink a coffee between each dialog line.

Thanks for informing me/us. I never play with the quick menu bar (it's always hidden for me in every VN), so I didn't even know about an 'auto' mode.

Just to make 100% sure I understand this setting once and for all:
If the 'auto' mode is NOT on in the quick menu bar, then the auto forward setting does NOTHING, right?

I'm feeling like that was a fake. Only has one post, and it's that one. Tom typically doesn't go out of his way to communicate with anyone even on his own discord. Don't really see him doing it here.

He's also known to not have a liking for adult games. He don't care if people use Ren'Py to make them, but prefer to just ignore that they exist. So, having an account here, even in a so long past, don't feel like something he would do.

Aye, but like anything that can be rule 34'd, it was largely hijacked by porn devs.
