did you guys see the status report on patreon? the new art looks so bad
Seems like someone doesn't quite understand what they got. The art for the current game has a vibe that sells the freeuse idea. Her not looking like she was supposed to be a figure for a porn game is kinda the point. Being entirely professional/oblivious, but going nuts from being fucked, but never acknowledging the guys fucking her. That's why the sketchy style was so good. The save new style with the sly "yeah, I am a slut hehe"-grin on every face misses the mark.

That shit is HUGE in a game with so little assets, story and gameplay. If the vibes are off, the whole thing crumbles.

Yeah, I agree, the more slender but still curvy original art style fit the game better by a lot! The new art seems not only more cartoony but also like it's trying too hard to make her more "dummy thicc" in a generic hentai girl sort of way. Hope they'll decide to try harder to match the original art style, though I get that it can be hard when having to switch artists mid-project.

I think they were referring to the new art. I think I read somewhere that dp got someone to help them with art, which may be the reason. I'm pretty sure they know what the art is meant to entail - the idea of free use - I just don't think they like the quality of it. (obligatory "but idk though")

Edit: I was thinking pretty hard during writing this aparentally

Oh hey guys, sorry for seeing these messages so late.

Yes, there's a new artist. We're changing how Candace looks. I've gotten a lot of compliments, but I understand why people might not like the change either. She lost her "girl next door" vibe and now has way more sex appeal. One thing I'd like to mention is that the emotion of the new level is different than the first.

The reason why Candace is happier in meeting level is because she is putting on a show for the managers. She is in front of the managers and wants to please them. I am not disregarding the freeuse fetish, I just think if she was put in front of very important people then she would smile at them.

With that being said, the level we're working on afterwards is the warehouse level and in that level she definitely won't be smiling.

These levels are going to be paywalled I assume?

(typically) Can't get pirated versions of games if the games developer hosts the thread. Unless they're a cool Dev.

What prompted you to say these things? Do you make a habit of making negative assumptions and explaining your negative assumptions?

The game has already had paywalled content, which has already turned people off in this forum. As for the second line, The likeliness of a dev posting their work that they get money for on patreon to F95 for free is low, which is why forums made by people who aren't the dev is (to me) perferred

First of all, there's nothing stopping people from dropping a Patreon version themselves. We don't have the Patreon version because no on shared it. Secondly, regardless of how much the dev makes or how much you like the game, the dev doesn't owe you this courtesy. I don't know why people act like it's a crime for the dev to incentivize Patreon subscriptions. You're preemptively lashing out at a dev over content you assume won't be available to you, which you already aren't entitled to in the first place. I don't know why you're active passive aggressive over this. Yes, the dev could share it, but so can you. But you didn't. You're mad because minor content that's meant to be paid for isn't available to you for free.
Do you understand how insane that sounds?

the dev came here to reach out to the community which many prefer so we can hear what is going on better which also
helps the devs get better constructive feedback

patreon has a paywall feature for a few reasons one is to not get banned for nsfw content.

personally i dont see the appeal in what you prefer. it has no benefit.

Nothing is stopping anyone correct, and I get why pay walled content is a route. The first time paywalled content was introduced to this game it was barely finished, there was bugs, and only a singular level. People didn't like it for those reasons, the dev posted it as a update to the thread but no one here could access they new content since they posted a public build, not the patron one.

(this may be incorrect)
The last time I went through and played this game, I remember there being a option for a level 2. But it was for patrons only. After I awhile I check the thread again and see that the dev posted an update, I don't bother to download the game again.

I also didn't just do my post without reason either. Dp Maker has had multiple games where parts of games are pay walled, I've been on other threads and people have had my same response.

Again, nothing is stopping them sure, what's stopping a restaurant from just giving you food for free? They have no incentive to give us the patreon build as it would be a bad idea. This is why I personally like the host of the thread to not be the dev.

So you're acknowledging that anyone can drop the Patreon version, but didn't, but you also think that the thread being hosted by someone else means we'll somehow have the Patreon version? :WaitWhat:

No. What he's saying is, if the thread is hosted by the dev, there's virtually no chance of the Patreon version being linked here (even if it was leaked). And that's legitimate reasoning, which I fully agree with. Exceptions like Something Unlimited only prove the rule.

On the other hand, if the dev is really hosting the thread, the bugs tend to be fixed much faster and the game is more polished because of a better contact with players. So both solutions have their pros and cons.

I don't like the games with paywalled contents at all, I much prefer the timeline route for Patreon, where the patrons get the same version everyone else does, just earlier. However, just as with the paywalled content, this route may be easily spoiled by someone leaking the Patreon version. And that's something developers tend to get discouraged by. A discouraged developer is the single worst thing that can happen to a game, as this usually means the game is dead.

TL;DR: if you want the game to be complete and good, don't leak the Patreon version, and don't encourage it.

And releasing it when the dev isn't in charge of the thread is somehow better on their mental health and motivation? I find that very hard to believe.

Well, if the dev is not involved (or even present) here, (s)he may not even be aware of the game being leaked, so the leak wouldn't directly affect their health (mental or physical) and/or motivation. It would, however, impact their income, and that may lead to reduced motivation (for sure) and health (eventually).

But that's just my guess about Icepicked's train of thought. I'm not him. I do download many games from here, but if I like them a lot, I don't hesitate to support the dev on Patreon. Not for paywalled content, just to motivate him/her to create better games.

Last time I checked, staff take thread ownership away from the devs if they "un-release" the leaked version, and the process for leaking a version involves a mod editing the first post. It's partly why some threads have the "we don't condone leaking our shit but we still participate here" disclaimers.

As far as I'm aware, owning the thread only really has some minor benefits (point farming, making it obvious that you're the dev, maybe easier tracking of useful notifications); Maybe people feel less inclined to share if the dev is active here and they don't want to make them feel bad, but I wouldn't put any money on that... or the opposite being true, that people might leak to piss devs off.

More on topic - is the new art that people keep mentioning just the update from sketches, or is there another new artist? I had a look through the patreon and didn't see anything that struck me as new, looks about the same as I remember from the first art update.
