You can buy contraseptive items that can prevent pregnancy from hospitals, but the only way you can prevent birth is to not use the "Birth" skill, going to the hospital to give birth or just trying to avoid getting hit in the belly by enemies and having a miscarriage.

Have you tried manually clicking it? That's what I did and it worked.
