Ren'Py - Beauty and the Thug [v0.4.0c] [Ze-gam-eZ]

Gameplay:
Repetitive Sandbox Visual Novel with stats.
Ok, this is a curious beast here. There is a story over a number of days with fixed events, and kind of a repetitive daily routine where you do actions to raise stats (kinks, money). You can't really raise them with one play, but the stats stays with a new game. And so access more possibilities and scene, and change the main scenes.

Story:
Kinda silly, and not the "funny" silliness (but there are funny scenes). MC gets corrupted by the thug (and the city), and the thug gets softened by the MC. Mostly, you make the MC pleasure herself in various ways. The characters are not rocket scientists. Anyway, the writing (outside story) is not bad. And the main goal is to put as much kinks as possible.
After a few plays, the MC will feel like a nymphomaniac eager for any perversion imaginable, except

Graphics/Animation:
I'm not fond of the artistic choices for the characters. Why the huge lips and childish faces? But very good animations.

Overall impression:
So, this is aimed for gamers who likes kinky behaviours, and lots of sex scenes (especially masturbation). If you like good stories, then it may not be for you. Despite that, it is well made, and I give 4 stars.

This game starts out weird. You play as an 18 year old girl but she acts more like she's 8 years old in the beginning, playing with her little dolly etc. It was almost enough to make me stop playing.

But I'm glad to say that the game gets less weird and way better over time. I would go as far to say that it tells one of the better romantic stories on this site. The author is a good writer and does a great job at portraying a young woman falling for a flawed bad boy. A trope in the romance novels not depicted much or very well in games so far.

The good:

- Storytelling is excellent
- Renders are great (they get better over time)
- Fantastic animations, some of the best on this site
- Author does a good job of making flawed characters make realistically flawed decisions that make sense in the story
- Author has a great mechanic of having the MC write a journal going over the significant story elements and how they are making her feel. Does a great job of summarizing things and if you skipped a bit of the story, allows you to still follow along.

The meh:

- Gameplay is currently lacking a bit, certain scenes are hidden behind specific actions that almost require a walkthrough and are not intuitive

The bad:

- Making the female MC act like she's 9 years old in the beginning and at certain times, playing with her dolly etc. Was very off-putting for me and almost made me stop right there.

I had originally rated this a 5/5, but I've gotta ding it a few stars after about a year of updates. There are so many things I like about this game (the visuals and animation are awesome + the fetish content is unique in a good way) and the dev is clearly putting in an insane amount of effort to make it.

With that being said:

This game is a structural disaster. So much content is locked away behind meaningless level checks, and you need multiple playthroughs to unlock everything. The walkthrough the dev posted is essentially just Charlie Kelly in the mailroom doing the Pepe Silvia bit. The amount of hoops you have to jump through to see certain scenes is insanely frustrating, and when you use the "sandbox days" to level up certain fetishes, the game breaks when there's a new update.

The content of the game is incredible. The way it's delivered is not, and it feels like the dev is too far down the rabbit hole to fix it anytime soon.

I really liked this game, at the moment it feels like the story is only just beginning but I really liked that we can set the pace and there are different alternatives.

One can for example ignore the thug and he stops trying to contact us, basically falling out of love. You can develop different fetishes in a very organic and believable way.

The Mc is great, both her model and her personality, really liked her inner monologue, her memories, her dreams that analyze the events of the day (or the diary which is also great!). There are a lot of creative and new ways used to give us a glimpse into this girl and explain her personality.

I particularly liked that she is not just corrupted by the men around her, she does what she wants. I played the first playthrough in a quite pure and romantic way, and she is then a regular girl with a relationship with a guy that has some issues.

I really liked the writing of the thug, in particular the scene where he nearly hits her and realizes the manipulation of his boss.

I think this game is very intelligently written, has hot situations (after two different playthroughs, one straight and one lesbian, I did a third and activated the cheats to set all kinks to max and oh my god, loved the different kinks and new scenes like cooking the eggs, playing with the knifes, the way she interacts with Jose..... ) overall I think this game is really a step above most games in this site and deserves a 5.

I hope one day it comes to steam or similar, this dev deserves the money.

Way too hard to get this game to do anything. Too much sandbox and repetition for little to no content. The art is decent, but having to use cheat codes to set everything up just right to get any content is ridiculous.

Conclusion:
I think this game looks great and has lots of promise.
The Visuals look great and I like that this game offers many fetishes.
But there are things here and there that need improvement.
I wish this game would be more linear, or at least have a in-game questlog, because you can miss so much content.
You could go to the gallery and read the description below the locked images, of what you have to do, to unlock them.
But it´s really tedious when you have so many pictures, that say, you need to do this on Day x, and you start to lose sight on what to do next. You´ll probably need to play the game multiple times to unlock everything.
The Story is a bit dull and slowburn, so there's not much action to be seen.
I don't have a problem with her having interest in the thug. But I think there's potential wasted by her not having sexual relationships with other guys, before she eventually commits to be in a relationship with the Thug.
There's a sex scene on the beach that is pretty decent, but after that I still didn't get the option for her to finger herself.
Her day by day tasks feel too repetitive and I wish there was more variety of naughty things you could do in public.
I wish the Dev all the best in the development of the game and will follow the progress.

Well, what can I say about this game? Are there any better? I don't think so, the story is good, the renders are superb, Ella is more than beautiful and the lewd parts of the game are the best i've ever seen.

I simply love this game and I can hardly wait for the next update. Keep up the good work.

Corruption system is fantastic, easily one of my favorites on this site.
Story is sensible and not too outrageous so keeps you engaged.
Renders are great, with a great way to unlock new fetishes.

Early on, completion of Day 1, I’m enjoying this.

The narration/dialogue is spotty (in translation) and somewhat ‘simple-minded’, yet the content of the thoughts is reasonably interesting and certainly not lazy from the author at all.

I find the pacing to be relatively relaxing and match up well with the images and personality of the MC. The images themselves are often times impressive and notably numerous. We’re not getting a single shot with 3-5 clicks of text on top. It’s non-stop imaging instead, each of which is plenty more than just a slight readjustment on the model - an astounding amount of effort for the Dev to undertake. Subjectively, I’m all about expressive nipples and an especially puffy peach of a pussy. Even the pubic hair is often handled artistically. Love it.

Same goes for animations. Some are a little janky but the effort and exemplary approach is often astounding. Well above the vast majority of what you might scrum up elsewhere. And plenty erotic as well.

From a gameplay perspective there appears to be a ton of attention spent on dynamics and variety. The tools (and tracking) are pretty intuitive and add a fair amount of immersion, delicately handled in a manner that matches the general aesthetic overall. Choices appear to matter plenty. I’m not yet sure how these might affect things long-term but for now there appears to be a lot of depth to it and a very good reason to flirt with other options. It’s always difficult to manage FOMO there but at this point it appears to be nothing but a plus (you’ve got options and they count/reward).

Going forward, I’m interested to see where her untarnished nature may lead us. The backstory is simple enough while engaging. And she’s clearly an open book (while not at all blank nor puritan). Indicators are there that may lead to all sorts of dynamics and stretching of boundaries; some opportunities for tension and release. She’s got a body/design that’s perfect for such a scenario. While the tools are there to afford me some reasonable control of the outcome. What more could you want, eh?

In summary, there’s no lazy here at all. The Dev went All In and I can only tip my cap to that. Has the potential to end up on my short list of Best. Too early to tell (where I’m at in the content) but enough so to compel me to already add a review, eh…

Finally a game that not only embraces pubic hair, but armpit hair too! Love it! And what's more, they went to the trouble of making every render insta-toggle between no hair and ful natural, never seen that before!
It's a shame the game doesn't allow you to free-play even though the 'days are up' though. There's a lot more that I know I haven't seen, but I can't play yet :/ It would be nice if we could just keep playing without getting any new main story.
Renders are very well done and the animations are great too. Only a handful games do it better. The pubic hair toggle is very special and worthy of praise too! (though of course, why would you want to turn it off )
The progression and corruption works very well too, you really feel the MC getting more slutty, if you want her to.
On that note, it should be made more obvious that watching porn is the only way to unlock / level up fetishes. Playing without the walkthrough, I totally missed that.

Amazing story, graphics,animations. Very good job has been done so far here. A lot of triggering action options involve. But...This is not the game i would like to play more, i have just tried it. It demands brain cells to work when you play this game, and i am not that type of gamer with this kind of game. It takes time to play this game and achive something. I dont have spare time for this kind of game. Must say again, awsome job with story and graphics. Top. But...My wife almost caught me playing the game I dont have spare life either... Keep doing great job. Amazing game.

Promising start.

The MC is beautiful, and the corruption doesn't feel forced like so many others in the genre seem to. The sex scenes (while I didn't get many) were very spicy, and I appreciated the fetish mechanic a lot. (Picked the foot fetish porn and homegirl started damn near deepthroating her own foot. Like, damn, okay. Go off, girl.

Only con is that, and I'm not sure if I played the game too safely or what, but I didn't get a ton of sexual content in my playthrough.

Also, the MC has a doll of Marie Rose from Dead or Alive, but she just acts like it's a normal doll and never acknowledges that it's Marie fucking Rose. As a DoA fan that felt so surreal. Haha.

Graphics are excellent and the story is good.

Been allot of back and forth about the hair stuff, lol. well, personally I Think girls should only have hair on their head and that's it. But if it's nicely shaped, I don't mind it. In this game the hair thing just looks kinda weird, so I'd advice to turn that S... off.

But besides that this is a really nice game.

I don't like female-protagonist games (because the MC is always emotionally/intellectually stunted ...and I don't get to corrupt them) but I downloaded this one by accident after looking at the images and was still impressed.

The day loop can get a bit repetitive although in general I Like sandbox. The UI/development quality is high as are the renders. The poses are especially excellent

Great story, great graphics, great game. And I absolutely LOVE the pubic hair in this game! Amazing work! Can't wait to see more of it. In my first play I missed the lesbian route. Would be nice if i had known in advance that this is irreversible.

Beauty and the Thug is a sandbox style game involving a naive beauty and the brutal mafia capo who has an unhealthy fascination with her. It seems to be early in development as of yet, as there isn't a huge amount of content, but there's the beginning of something somewhat interesting.

I think what bothers me most about the game is the MC feels like a seven year old stuffed in an eighteen year old's body. All her fond memories trace back to when she was very young, she engages with everything with a very youthful naivete, and she has raunchy dreams involving her doll. This might be only a me thing, but I have difficulty seeing her as any flavor of teenager. It makes me a little uncomfortable at times.

This doesn't pair well with the mafia capo with a heart of gold who seems to be the main love interest. The players have seen far more of him than she has, but the forced date with him makes it very evident who he is. Dating a guy (or girl) with the intention to "fix" them is a sure fire failure and I'm not looking forward to him chewing the MC up and spitting her out. I'm hoping there will be paths where the MC can minimize his interaction, but he seems uncomfortably obsessed for no justifiable reason.

There's a lot of lewd content in the game, but you basically need to follow a step by step walkthrough of the game to figure it out. Boosting fetishes requires you to find the right activity in the right order and it's not intuitive at all. For instance, boosting exhibitionism could be working at the car wash, going to the laundromat, ordering pizza, going to the beach, or going to the park. You need to figure out which one of these events will boost your stat, and several of them have multiple options, only one of which seems to work. It's frustrating in the extreme.

The renders and animations are quite good in the game. There appear to be a decent number of female characters, so hopefully we'll get to see a good bit of variety. There are already a pretty decent number of scenes... if you can find them.

Overall, I'm curious as to where this game will be in a few patches, but not super impressed with it as of yet. It feels like one of the many html style sandbox games on this site, only with good images and a lot more clicking to advance events. It has the potential to be better than this rating, but it isn't at the moment.

Great game, covers many things, great exhib stuff. Not grindy at all and has great sandbox elements. Definitely recommend if you like open game, and you can choose to guide what the character is into.
