So they want to temporary drop off the animations to speed things up. A good choice. They have a great artist, classic ero-scenes would still work great and so many devs burn up (or fall into milking) because of overambition. Go for the classic and keep animations as a later bonus, when the whole game is done, that's my suggestion.

Yeah, that sounds good.
Basically, you'll have to look forward to everything looking a bit rough around the edges,
Even the comics and stuff will remain as sketches for a bit until we knock out the story some more.
Got a guy to help me out with polishing the sprites now,
I still have to pose and animate things in Blender,
but having some weight off my back will help a ton in the long run.
Let's hope it works out.
Burning out is one thing, I've gone through slogs before.
There was progress being made on the polish, but there was fatigue on the discord from the lack of new content.
Only got two hands myself, unfortunately.
So a change of tactics was needed.
We'll see the results soon enough.

I'm not in the discord but to be honest i was a bit worried about the fate of the game. It had a great start but so few updates. Glad to see there's the will to complete it, to focus on polish instead of advancing the story, in my opinion, would be a mistake. If i was a dev i would rather be proud of a complete game a bit rough here and there than a very polished 0.4.13.45 version. Good luck.

I've always strived for polish and quality on all of my endeavors,
when we released the prologue that part got a lot of praise,
so I was obsessed with keeping it up, and we even went further beyond that (2x'ing the resolution of the comics for example)
But as you mentioned, it'd be a bad call to continue like that with our current power as devs.
I think this is also the best spot to switch dev modes,
since you'd get a taste of what we're after with the first few chapters,
then, even if the rest is rough, you'd get a decent idea of what it could look like towards the end.
So, there'd always be that extra bit of something to get exited for in the future updates.
Sketching is going well so far on Ch2pt2,
I think it's going to be pretty sauce.

I'm very impressed by the polish, everything feels so smooth and looks amazing UI wise. While the progress is slow (took me no time at all to go through the content implemented over the last year) it is very good.
Is the plan for it to be only a linear story or will it open up down the line? Given the systems implemented it does seem like a bit overkill just to tell a linear story.

Yeah polishing everything to the max is satisfying,
but it definitely takes too long with just 2 devs,
so we're switching things up to sticking with sketches for now and busting out more chapters instead.
Sit tight, we should have much more to show very soon.

Put some bait in the attachments for you.
I've expanded the character sheet for Rivet, now there's some clarity on what she looks like under the coat.
(VERY ROUGH version btw, colors are especially placeholder)
Figuring out naked Coco too, but spoil yourself at your own risk.
If all goes well, we could finally publish a pretty meaty content update for the game around October.

To be honest, I prefer it right now, where the focus is on high-quality, comic-style art rather than on gameplay I wouldn't really care about. If I wanted a full gameplay experience, I’d just pick something up on Steam.
hell, there are too many games that require near full time attention in todays age so i'm quite thankful for these games
