VN - Ren'Py - Being a DIK [v0.11.1] [DrPinkCake]

I have to admit that at first I wasn't sure about trying it, because let's say I was one of the persons that had to drop Acting Lessons. But after like all the friends only had to say good stuff about the game, I had to try it and now I regret that I didn't try it earlier.
But I have to say the game did a lot of stuff new, that I wish to be standard in the future. (Although it might actually be expensive).
The first thing that actually gave me the first big WOW moment, was the voice acting for Jill in the intro! I didn't thought that I would actually like voice acting in a VN that much.

Then of course the render quality. Not much to say about that other than awsome! But what impressed me the most in terms of graphic aren't even the big animation, but rather the small animations during the converstions. That really left me in awe! That way the characters really felt alive!

Then we have the college setting, which is surprisingly unique in adult games. As I like movies that take place in Highschool or College, it is something I am looking forward to.

The music is also amazing that you use in the game. I actually bought a CD of one of the bands

I think that the characters are really likable, all in their own way of course. My favorite of course is the redhead without any doupt. I mean I am surprised that I really like Sage's character

So yeah definitly liking the game and I will replay Acting Lessons for sure. (Well I already let myself spoiled, so now I feel safe, although it isn't the way it should be played, but that's just how I need it)

Lots of potential in this one. The combination of free roam (which will hopefully be expanded upon greatly), and story driven content makes for a complete gaming experience, even in it's early development. I'll be paying close attention.

I'm late to picking this one up even though I was looking forward to it. I have to say its every bit as riveting as Acting Lessons, and is probably the only example of a 0.1 that ended with me as impatient for the next volume as I am for the next episode of one of my weekly animes.

It is a great credit to the creator and the game that I'm even making a review, because I go out of my way most of the time to not comment or get involved in threads. My praise for Being a DIK is at the point that I feel I do it a disservice not to offer a well thought-out review.

Seriously, great storytelling. Characters are obviously deep and well thought out (and I would expect no less from Dr.PinkCake). What strikes me when it comes to the characters and characterization, is there are no characters "left behind". What I mean is that every character has a name, and a clearly defined personality, to the point that I'm really left wondering just how deep Dr. PinkCake's notes are when it comes to this kind of thing.

Where some school/college based games choose to highlight the "speaker" and leave the others intentionally as black silhouettes (which is not itself a bad decision either) this game opts to name and develop every character.

There are a number of scenes where the background is made up of other characters that we either have not met at that point, or have seen in passing, and I think that is great. It is a huge plus to the immersion to have so many fully fleshed out characters. And I like the idea that if I see a glimpse of someone in the hallway, they aren't just filler, I will probably get to meet them some day.

I've played through the available content twice now, once as my "pure" character personality, and another trying for as much extra/DIK content as possible. I was very impressed at how the subtle choices of the game have such massive impact on your interactions with the characters. Everything from the dialogue to your general personality is affected by the DIK/Chick Scale, and it is obviously well thought out to do so. I am excited to hear that there is going to be content put in for a "neutral" path as well, as it is admittedly an initial concern that by taking a neutral approach you could miss a lot of content.

The only QoL change I've seen that I think is worth considering is maybe consider a more fleshed out bypass option that lets you play some mini-games and not others, instead of all or nothing.

I say this because I'm finding I'm not a huge fan of the Brawler Mini-Game, but the other 3 are great and immersive. (Note: The brawler mini-game is still immersive, its just a frustrating game for me so far, hence the initial dislike).

In conclusion, despite being only the first episode of this game, it has risen almost instantly in my long list of played games to the top of my favorites. This is not altogether unexpected, as I was a huge fan of Dr. PinkCake's last work, Acting Lessons, but I am pleased that the quality of story, characters, and overall experience that was present in AL has remained here in DIK. I look forward to playing through this new story and world that is being built.

Good Graphics and animation, some games look cheap when using those 3d models, this game does not, in fact it is pretty well done.

Well written story, nothing feels too forced, also the HOTs are a little over the top with their slutty thing.

I like how there are some free roaming parts within a rather linear story, they could however offer more possibilities ( I am sure there is more to come).

The Fighting System could be a little better, it feels clunky.

Long time looking for game like that. Its not only about sex but a good written story . Always was a huge fun of the college comedies like American Pie and Blue Mountain State, so this game is perfectly fits me.

This is what a professionally done game looks like. The renders are nearly impeccable, the music is perfect for the mood and setting (except for the intro to the game it is deafening) the story and dialog are nearly perfect (it feels like watching a movie like animal house) the choices are varied and actually make a difference, the mini games are short and to the point and do not detract from the enjoyment of the game, the character models are distinct and beautiful. I can't give this game enough praise. It really feels like a triple A game made for adults. I... I think I'm in love...

Very appealing game. The girls are attractive and there is a wide variety. The HUDs (interface) is simplistic and decent looking as well as easy to understand. The first chapter does a good job at establishing certain factions within this school as well as character personalities. Stories and backgrounds as of right now are believable. The animations are nice (and holy hell there are actually jizzing animations and visuals! Can't wait to see what those creampie will looks like).

Though I do wish that there were more choices, especially the first major choice with the roommate. As we as the players can clearly see that he did in fact tried to help but the main character misunderstood him and both choices do not allow the players to inquire more. Though I suspect it is very likely that we can explore this later in the game and able to finally befriend him.

I very much like this phone system thing like GTA and it even lets you choose the music that plays in the background.

There wasn't much free roam in the first chapter, free roam was only a segment of the location which was limited, but again this is only the first chapter. I usually just pick a girl I like and stick through with one very easily in these types of games but damn this game is giving me trouble doing so as there are a lot of good girls here, which is exciting, and damn I love me some good girls, thots are for immature short sighted teenagers anyways.

Anyways, slight spoiler warning. Game starts, get a first hot date very soon in the game, things get heated and mid way through she said she got a boyfriend and that she was cheating with you, but days later continue to tease and flirt with you. 10/10 exactly what happened to me in real life. Yup, this was warned the first time you start the game - it ain't all happy and just sexy time, you might get upset (in my case it was just relatable because I experienced it). R E A L I S M.

Oh yeah, this game is voiced. Only some right now. I don't mind it at all, the voice acting is good and quality is good. Plus it fits the characters as well (those that are voiced that is). Some good moaning in da future? (Hint hint)

It is rare for one of these stories to ensnare the viewer so completely and totally that they find themselves pondering the future of the characters. To have an invested interest in the story reflects a master story teller at work. Well done Your Cakeyness.

For now the game seems really fun and has a nice story with nice renders,

The game can also become greater in my opinion in futures updates,

I gave his previous game 5 stars, because it deserved every single one.

What do I do now? This is even better! The writing again is absolutely fantastic. The characters are even prettier. The background music is a perfect fit for the setting. The animations are gorgeous.

So of course this deserves 7/5 stars.

First off, I absolutely dislike the voiced stuff, but I guess people dig it, so whatever.
This absolutely has to be one of the best games I've played yet and it contains only just the first chapter. Hopefully it stays as great in the future.
The story is an absorbing tease of zigzags and faceplants, setting the mood for a world that has nothing to give for you, only what you can take from it. The game lives up to its name, and I hope we can too.

I am utterly in love with this game! The character design and animation is next level, they have life in their (very beautiful) eyes. The story is engaging (I will certainly be playing it both ways) and you are spoilt for choice for beauties to pursue. The subgames are entertaining without being a grind and the mixtuer of set pieces and free-roam work well. I can't wait for more!

HANDS DOWN the best visuals in any porn game I've ever played. This game even rivals games made by teams of hundreds of people. The women in this game are plentiful, realistic, attractive, some voice acted, and SEXY. Drpinkcake wanted to make a game not just about sex and stuff. He did it perfectly. Some porn games I spam click so I can get through the dialog and to the sex. Not this game. I read every line so I can laugh and get a story I am now hooked on. I love it. If youre thinking about downloading it, do it!

Just like the developer's other work, this one seems to take the bar, and raise it higher than it's been before. The quality in renders, writing, and sound are second to none here. I'm extremely impressed and I think this has potential to be the greatest of its' kind which other games are measured against. While some people didn't really enjoy the mini games, I found them enjoyable. If you have trouble with the sliding puzzle, they're really not hard to learn online in 5 minutes.

Jesus i don't even know where to start.

Based on Episode 1. Real rating is 3.5 star which is above average, unfortunately the thread doesn't allow 0.5 star rating so 3-star it is.

I'll go with the good things first because they are obvious. This game is beautiful. VERY beautiful. A lot of effort and care are clearly put into the game. I appreciate this very much.

However, this is by no means a perfect game as many has given 5-star rating. There are clear weaknesses as well. Mini-games are interesting but still very flawed. None of the NPCs are really likeable, and the "buddy" NPC (Derek) is honestly one of the most annoying characters in any game. This really negatively affected my enjoyment of the game.

But the biggest flaw of the game for me is that every character is suspicious, and this is not a whodunnit mystery game where you have to catch the criminal. This is really not a good thing because you're forced to overthink things.

"Is she really nice?"
"Is he a friend?"
"Can I trust them?"
"What if he'd backstab me?"
"Should I betray her?"
... and so on

This is the downside of a game that we know will have a twist. You can trust nobody, and it's made worse because you're locked into the DIK/CHICK characteristic scoring system which might not actually really represent your intention.

So why the 3.5-star rating if there are so many big weaknesses? Because I can't give average 3-star for a game that is visually extremely beautiful. It really is that beautiful. It's just a shame that the characters and story are not anywhere as high quality.

One of the best games I've run across here. Excellent renders, decent English and grammer, meaningful choices, no noticeable bugs, at least a couple of hours of content for the first posted version. Very well done.

Ok.. so where do I start with this masterpiece...
So the fact that only the 0.1 update cause this much of a stirr tells you all you need to know really.
The intro to the game brought back Detroit: Become Human vibe.. And that was hell of a game.. + Mr.PinkCake unique sense of humour.. Anyway to start with the review.
As I have said its only 0.1 but it already has huuuge amount of content and got me checking F95 every second for if the new update had been released.
The story so far is amazing.. He already warned us that it will be another heartache so Im at the same time dreading and impatiently waiting to see what kind of EPIC end this game will end.. But I hope we are looong way from end, because this game if it is to be judged by ACTING LESSONS(WHICH IS PROBs THE BEST GAME ON HERE{Alongside the likes of Depraved Awakening and few others} ) and the first update, its gonna be hell of ride.
The most amazing thing is that he managed to surpass the quality of his previous game.
What people NEED TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND, that this is not a 10/10 porn(erotic game) IT IS 10/10 GAME... It transcends the simple porn games with great, arching story and THE BEST animations so far I have seen..
