VN - Ren'Py - Being a DIK [v0.11.1] [DrPinkCake]

Best game so far in terms of quality render, animation and a great story too.
Only matter may be the times between updates that can take several month, the contents is good but we'd love to have more frequent update. Anyway, Dr Pinkcake really deserve support as this is a really good product.

I cannot understate how lucky our community is to have DrPinkCake authoring these games. I checked out Being A DIK when it was in version 0.2, was interested enough in it to check out his previous game, Acting Lessons, and was blown away by the raw emotions a porn game was able to evoke while still being sexy and funny. Now that Being A DIK is up to version 0.4, I once again find myself laughing out loud, invested in multiple characters, and on the verge of tears at some of the paths this game takes. I'm blown away but what a talented storyteller exists in DrPinkCake and can't wait to give a full review to this beautiful game when it's done.

The woman are all sexy, the sex scenes are great and the story is well written. So it's ticking the boxes on a porn game. I'm very reluctant to get to into it though as I'm expecting the dev to pull the rug out and have everything turn horrible at some point :/.

It does have flaws though. The biggest been the minigames and Derek. On the whole though I wanted to wank off and the game gave me plenty of opportunities. It'll likely continue that way until the dev decides to make the fapping sad.

Easy five star rating for this fantastic game. Everything from story, writing, graphics, models is top notch and it's ambitious as hell with so many paths, different girls to pursue and ways of going about MC's life.

There is room for improvement, mainly with perhaps reducing some of the free roam events, to make it easier to navigate and not what to do instead of just wandering around clicking everything. I get that it enhances the play time but at the same time it just feels like a chore and adds nothing to the experience. I would also subsittuete some of the animations for a decreased development time and maybe also work in smaller development cycles. WIth a project this ambitious, I can imagine that it becomes easy wanting to outdo yourself every time but if time drags on for too long, us players may lose track of where we are and what is going on.

This game is the best of its kind I've played so far.
The story is excellent, well directed, mixing humor and stories of more (or less) serious teenagers on a campus.
The graphics are gorgeous and are accompanied by good soundtracks.
Can't wait for the next update.

Perhaps the best VN I've played ever in spite of some very minor flaws.

Great character development, a vast amount of choice that really influences your path, and funny as hell. DrPinkCake deserves everything he gets from developing his games. The guy simply exceeds the expected limits for each update, and unlike other developers, he really shows his effort to deliver everything as perfectly as possible. This is a game that I could wait for a whole year for a smooth update, because I know it would be worth it.

This game is very overrated

PROS:
The visual of the game is good ; The renderings of the female characters are excellent / great ; The animations and sex scenes are good.

The mini-games which are a bit obligatory ; The gameplay that is tiring ;
The introduction of the game is one of the most horrible things I have ever seen ; A lot of useless stuff during the game ;
The rewards are rubbish and not worth your time (play skipping the mini-games) ;

Review:
Being A DIK have a silly's story for a porn game. You're going to college (wow), so you have to follow the author's own scripts and lines. The choices options do not influence much, so you will choose to be a DIK because you have more scene options, and play again as CHICK and realize that you have wasted your time. The game is a bit limited because at no time do you have no choice whether or not to be part of the group, simply you will have to follow and have to endure that young guy asshole "Derek".
Yes, I didn't think it funny about him and honestly I would never have a friend like him in real life, let alone put such an idiot in a game. But what is my problem with that? In the early chapters of the game you follow a pretty boring story until you get to Chapter 3 which gives an improvement. The game is very time consuming and with some stupid fetishes (footjob).
But that's not the general problem of the game, that's the least, the problem is these mini games that always consume your time and the rewards? I won't even say about that...
The many things that are very patetics in the game, the parties that happen in the game are horrible, the relationships with the characters are more or less, and the gameplay is quite bad to play. There was a point in the game that I concluded, how? simple, in the game I had to water the plants. Yeah, retarded thing. If you stop to realize, how many useful things could you put? imagine many things but watering plants? SAVE THE WORLD CHAMPZ! PRODUCE OXYGEN! AND SAY NO TO GLOBAL WARMING!

So, why I did give 3 stars?
If it weren't for this boring story and a time consuming gameplay would be 4, 5 stars. I know each one has a different taste and will have people who will disagree, but, Acting Lessons had a much better gameplay, it didn't waste its time on nonsense and there were no boring mini games either.
Anyway, I like point-n-click games, Being A DIK brought in but in a tiring way, I know the best thing to do is to use cheats, but frankly, that's not how I like to play. The game is good, yes, it is very good but the story and some things take the urge to continue.

DPK is crushing it yet again with Being A DIK, easily one of the best games out there. The art is very good, animations are great, the script is extremely funny and keeps you entertained. Its exactly what you expect from a DPK game and more.

This game was a tough one to rate for me. Let me preface this review by mentioning that the renders and for the most part, the quality of the game is off the charts. I wish I could rate the game even higher but there are some problems that I can't overlook.

As stated, the renders are phenomenal. The girls are all very pretty, for the most part unique, and the animations are top class. Most scenes blew me away and it was extremely impressive.

The MC has a few routes you can play, and he seems like a good dude. Sometimes MC's are built to be creepy or weird and cringy, but this guy is a good one.

There are a lot of well created options for LIs offered to the players. I would think there is a girl for almost everyone. Unfortunately for me, there really isn't any girl that stuck out. My favorite girls were Maya and Josy and after the latest update, that kind of ended up in a dumpster fire so I'm not sure I have any girl I'm super into. Sure they're all extremely hot, but from a romance standpoint they all don't sit well with me. This ended up being a massive downside to the game for me. I would have loved an option to separately romance Josy or Maya but both together is asking for trouble. The 3-way relationship also forces you to steer clear from a DIK path which is much more boring for me. It makes 0 sense why you can treat Josy and Maya far better as a DIK but still be rejected and you can treat them terribly as neutral or chick and enter the 3 way relationship. The worst part was that after MC professed his love to both of them and got rejected, both of them just started making out and low key cucking the MC. There also is another scene that MC is around for where Josy and Maya fool around in minimal clothing once again cucking MC. Josy and Maya clearly give no regard for the MC's feelings by doing this. It's kind of lite NTR that I really wasn't expecting nor wanted in my game especially considering how well the MC treated them. Even if I wanted to pursue the 3 way relationship, it felt like the MC was third wheeling. On top of that, I don't think Dr. Pinkcake, a dev not afraid to make heart wrenching decisions, will let a relationship based on 3 cheaters work out in the end. I can't in good conscience rate this game a 5 when the only 2 LI's I was interested in get screwed like this.

Onto a far less sour note; the story is pretty decent. I really like the father and his parenting led the MC to being pretty interesting. Hearing about MC's mother was pretty sad but was a romantic tale. It seemed like breadcrumbs were left implying Jill might has something to do with MC's mother? I had also found MC's first girlfriend a pretty sad but endearing story. Pledging to the DIKs is obviously a major plot point and had a lot of funny content that makes the game entertaining. That combined with the interactions between the Fraternities and Sororities, the characters, and all the small branches happening on the side make the story consistently entertaining and interesting. There almost is too much going on though. But I imagine after an update or two a lot may be cleared up.

The minigames were pretty enjoyable for the most part albeit quite difficult at times. I had the fighting on easy with near maximum stats and I still failed some of the fights unless I was concentrating 100%. I can't even imagine how the game is on harder difficulties. The classes are somewhat entertaining but again, difficult and require concentration. It is somewhat annoying because some dialogue and scenes require minigames to be enabled so you get stuck doing these even if you just want to relax. The free roam combined with the phone and social media is for the most part well done but I had serious problems with the free roam in episode 4. There were 2 times in particular that I spent over 10 minutes trying to find out how the hell to progress the story. I got stuck in the sorority house trying to find Sage. There are small arrows that are invisible until you hover over them to attempt to navigate. Problem is, the directions aren't all that clear so I painstakingly had to comb the game with my mouse to find a hidden arrow to progress the plot. This again happened at the party. I would much rather have all the arrows not be hidden to save time and endless frustration.

I'm not sure there is much more worth covering. I've said my piece about the massive shortcomings (in my opinion) the game has but there are so many fantastically put together pieces that it is a shame that I feel this way. I think after episode 4, I am less excited about the game than I was after the end of episode 3 so that is a pretty disappointing development. That being said, the game certainly is one of the best in many regards and just because I have my issues with the course the game took doesn't mean you wouldn't enjoy it. Just be advised about the lite NTR and don't get your hopes up about Maya and Josy. If you have your eyes on other girls than I imagine this game is easily a 5 but for me, it unfortunately ends up being a 3.5.

Excellent game. So many options and so many things to do. Also I enjoyed the dialogue and humour. The characters feel more and more fleshed out with each installment even though I cannot really tell where the main story will end up. The developer should be credited for all the good work they have done. I can't wait to see where this one will go.

The best game ever. This game is not only basic visual novel but a complete game. The graphic is on AAA games level. The soundtrack is very good and enjoyable. The jokes and story are very good. I really like it.

The quality of the writing, visuals and just general polished feel are on a completely other level from other Ren'Py games I've played. This really shows what can be achieved in this genre with enough effort. Just the in-game social media system alone is full of so many hilarious little bits. I'm very impressed and eagerly awaiting Season Two!

This is the best game on the site. Characters are unique and nuanced. Plot is excellent. I usually hate halfmade games, but this is still worth the time. I just hope the creator gets more help so that he can churn out more content.

Well-made, well-polished, great writing, great looking characters, highest order of quality you'll find in a visual novel game. You can tell the game is made by someone who really enjoys doing so, and is in control of his own artistic vision.

-Excellent image quality.
-Good musical atmosphere.
-Good plot.
-Good playability.

As for now the game is good. Quality and story are good enough and it doesnt feel rushed. The only problem I have for now is that being a DIK is far more rewarding than being a CHICK. I know the game is called being a DIK, but then why have the option to be a CHICK. I hope in the future this will be somehow fixed and both DIK and CHICK will have different but good things to show.

Honestly this game feels good, it's not like all other game i have played. Realy good on any point.
The music, ambiance, atmosphere all it's corectly dosed and we feel realy the good mental of the creator of the game.
