You must wait till Kira tells to to study it and then study it on line.
But if you cheated it already then you are fucked and need to go back to before you cheated or start over.
This game has many blocks in it if you use cheats before you get the stat to 100 points in game.
You must first work on the stats in game and get them to 100 points and then you can cheat them higher if you like but there are to many triggers in the first 100 points and cheating before 100 breaks the game.
I'm having trouble with triggering the breakfast event after Eric is gone. After I call kate's mom and get rid of eric, i waited like 2 weeks and nothing happens.

It can take many months for it to trigger so just work on all other open quests and even some closed quests and it will trigger, just keep Lisa and Alice's mood and Max authority over them maxed out and stop paying for private spanking if you are and pay 500 every Monday to support the family.
but the walkthrough said that once you get eric gone, you will have 4 breakfast conversations and the last one is when mom cannot find a new job.

Yes and no, you must have all triggers done for it to be true and you have not done all the triggers.
Starting in v.10 DS put triggers for quest in all other quest and they need to go off to proceed to the next part.
Cheating stats before they get to 100 points in game will for the most part will break the game and can delay triggers from going off.
