Ren'Py - Big City's Pleasures [v0.8.0] [Porcus]

If you look at what this game up until this point has to offer, i'd give it 3.5 Stars. The Story is okish, i mean there is always room for improvement, but its good enough that you dont facepalm every 5 seconds because people do stupid shit. The Girls hit my taste, and the renders of said girls and the animations are good.

However, the grind in this game is just way beyond anything that makes sense. In this department it is another one of those games were you feel like the Dev gets extra money for every hour you play the game, even when its meaningless repetitive grind. Up to a point where i would give the Game only 1 Star because it killed it for me. However with some save editing i managed it to play through all the content avoiding most of the grind. And if i then look back it still deserves 2.5-3 Stars. But only in the hope that the Dev somewhen decides to cut out at least 50% of the grind. Otherwise this game is designed to be played with save editing and thats just a huge fail.

TLR Story ok, renders and Girls great. But get yourself something to edit saves, otherwise you will grind meaningless shit for hours and waste your time.

Review:
I had played this game before and decided to download the new version (v.0.2.4) to try again and I really wasted my time. So, forgive me for editing this review. The story of the game is not good, it is a story made anyway, the characters are not very constructive and the script left something to be desired.
Gameplay:
Sandbox with supposed open world. However, you don't feel much of the open world feeling, just a looping cycle. There are some places for you to go and proceed with the story of the characters, some are even very short and some others are not worth wasting time on. Most of that game is repetition, a grind that leads you to increase the progression of affection and sexuality with the characters, and you’re not sure how many points you need for a scene to be unlocked or something happens, you’ll have to keep looping until you unlock the scene. It really is a tiring job, because the walkthrough doesn't help much. However, the gameplay is quite tiring, because having to repeat the same thing almost always is quite boring. There is a shop with several items and most you cannot buy and others you cannot use, this is totally unnecessary.
Graphics & Sex Content:
The renderings and graphics are good. As well as some sex scenes and animations. There is sexual content in this game, but most are teasing and some useless things like, for example, masturbating a roommate with a rubber duck, of the remaining, I think there could be more, since it’s a 4gb download size game.

So, why I did gave 2 stars?
I had given a three star rating. But I decided to play again and noticed that it wasn't all of that. The game is very tiring, repetitive and boring to play. That's because in certain scenes they are quite slow and we cannot skip, you have to wait 3 to 10 seconds for the scene to appear, I don't know if this is on purpose, but it is quite annoying. Another thing is that the walkthrough is not detailed, we don't know how we can proceed with a specific character, an example of which is Gina, the main girl in the game. I spent a lot of time grinding with her, there came a time when I got tired. The other roommate is just provocation, the MC doesn’t take the attitude of going to her and saying "hey, how about we fuck?" no, it's not the MC's fault but the developer who doesn't plan things very well. Anyway, giving a two stars rating is very fair, this is because the game is between one or two. Therefore, the quality of the game is not bad, the graphics are not, but the gameplay is. If you are looking for a game with more sexual content and that has a quick or comfortable gameplay, I do not recommend this game.

I actually really enjoyed the start of this game but then it got to a point where repetition and filler took precedence. Now I have gotten to a point where Im bored and don't want to continue anymore. There isn't an option to fast skip the scenes youve repeated multiple times. There are also some lengthy pauses between renders that can't be fast forwarded with clicking.

I can't recommend this game in it's current state.

This game might be up there on the list of games with the best looking models. Good job by the creator to pick such good looking characters. A few of them have the cartoonishly large breasts, but all in all the women are pretty, and the best part is none of them look like children, which can be hard to find with a lot of VN games. Also, the animations are all done very well, and visually, the sexy parts of the game are excellent.

All that being said, a lot of the dialogue, especially from the MC, can be painfully cringey. I understand that the author's first language is not english, so I can forgive some translation quirks. But for substantial portions of the game, the MC is ridiculously cheesey. I actually felt embarrassed for the MC while I was reading the dialogue. If anyone tried to use some of the lines from this game in real life, they would be laughed out of the room by whomever they spoke to.

Regarding the gameplay, without a guide, this game can drive you absolutely nuts. For example, some plot points only advance after repeating a scene multiple times. Not only that, there is little to no indication as to what is required to get the story to advance. Why would the game designer think that's a good idea?! Who wants to have to keep repeating the same scene over and over again?! In addition other plots only happen on a certain day of the week, and only after a scene has been played multiple times, so as a reader, you need to slog through the same several times to get to new content, e.g. the Katia storyline. You need to build her sexuality score to 19 points to advance her plot. But she is only available on Sat. & Sun, and you can only score a max. of 2 points per interaction (all the same interaction btw). So you have to see the same scene with her 10 times before her plot progresses! For readers that gave up on this game, I can't blame them, it's extremely frustrating.

I give it a "Good" rating simply because the women in the game are done so well visually. But as far as the story and writing are concerned, it's just average at best. And the gameplay is beyond grinding, to the point where trying to figure it out w/o a walkthrough is almost a futile task.

I really enjoy this game.

Renders are really great and the Animations just top class.

The MC come's off as innocent and has very good manners and treats the ladies and other people well. However he is but still a man and a young one at that so he's going to have perverted thoughts like most of us.

He tries to act on these thoughts but knows when it's gone too far.
One thing I did not really like was the option to molest one of the girls so far even if she's very kinky in her sleep. It's not my style of play but even in this the MC thought about what he was doing. Play it to see what I'm on about.

The grind as some call it is not that much. Yes you have to grind a bit but truthfully I enjoy some grind as I want to work a bit for my 'prizes'. However you don't need a walk through and you don't really need to check the help/stats menu to continue as the game basically still continues on it's own.

Then lastly the women are HOT.. all of em. They each have their personalities that you can decide to pervert upon or give love to. I just love Gina and Jess... and .. well the other girls too...

It's going to difficult to choose a love interest but so far Gina...

Go play it it's seriously a fun well made game imo.

It's a bit tricky to find every single event but I still prefer games where you can do your daily activities instead of just following the mc through the story but as most of you will probably agree it is kind of annoying to repeat the daily activities until they change but until then it is a repetition of the dialogue so I say 4/5 stars because the models are pretty dope and the "farmer-story" is kind of fun. I like it so far and will wait for upcoming updates.

I guess the game does emulate being a 25 YO semi-virgin moving to a big city pretty well. Art and animations are really great.. at first. But after seeing the exact same scenes over 100 times they grow old and rather frustrating.

I'm all up for slowly corrupting npc but 7H of repetition (skipping dialog) does not feel like it at all. Especially when MC can only get his dick wet using sleeping pills; regardless of the fact that some NPC are flashing their pussy on day one. When he finally does, there is more talk than action.

Regarding the kink there is more feet than anything else and unavoidable femdom which is unfortunate in my case.

Progression is terrible and killed it for me hence the 3*. Dev's could really bring the thresholds between scenes down by 100% as the art is wonderful but does not justify spending so much precious time on it (unren FTW)

The renders and story are good. The grind and the inability to skip some of the long scenes that are repeated dozens of times kinda kill it. It takes too long to get to the good parts. I've been playing for a few hours and still have yet to see anything good. If the grind was reduced this easily could be the best game on here.

Finally gave this game a try and boy was it great.
The story, the renders, the animations, the sounds, it's all near perfect for what you want in a game like this. For this being only version 0.2 there's an amazing amount of content although some storylines end a bit abruptly which is a bit of shame when there's the buildup towards it.

I was worried before about the game being grindy but I only later learned that you can actually cheat but can't say I ever felt the need for that. There's no grindy mini games

Ok, I'll be straightforward: this game contains THE BEST loving sex scene that I have seen in any game so far. Everyone knows which scene I'm talking about, right at the end of 0.2.2. That scene ALONE is really worth playing the whole game, and I repeat, it's still only 0.2.2!
So much still to come!

Animations are superb, some of the best on this site. Art in general is really nice and all girls are good-looking. There's also very nice music and SFX.

The game mechanics are very simple. The game used to be on the grindy side but now devs have introduced an in-game cheating system which reduces grinding to the bare minimum.
Anyway don't forget that this is still under development, there's quite a lot of repetition, still we get a really engaging story (at least IMHO) with dozens of different hot scenes.
There's so much potential in this! That "incest" tag will surely bring some exciting surprises

In short, hands down one of my favourite 4-5 games here.

Pretty good aside from the needless grind, there is true potential here, only thing bothering me is the forced on you teacher with saggy tits, come on at least give us a choice, when presented with so many options MC can afford to be a little picky .

Absolutely wonderful and beautiful renders. Also the girls look fantastic, I love them all especially Gina. She is also so sweet and hard to get. It is a bit of a grind but the rewards are satisfying. Great game.

Ok, I was gonna give this game a 4, but seeing its score I can't help but give it a 5, the animations are great, the variety of girls is awesome, and there's some nice scenes variation without being full vanilla

The only thing i like in this game are the girls. The rest doesnt do it for me.
The MC has forgot his spine at the ranch before he moved to Gina i believe. Also the femdom with the teacher isnt avoidable. I just dont find any satisfaction playing this game.. such a shame

The Good

Animations: Number one reason to play this game, the animations are excellent, up there with the best on the site. Multiple animations and angles per sex act, VO moaning, and they're quite long too. No 3 frames on loop here, it's good shit.

Renders: Very good, quite a large number of girls who all look great and very realistic. There's no insanely large boobs/asses, just believably busty and well formed rears. Faces are also really good, I think the two main girls are by far the best but the side girls are also good.

The Mixed

Writing/Story: Quite simple and cliche: small town boy goes to big city college and every girl in sight is hungry for his huge dick. Your usual characters are present: childhood friend who you need to work on, her friend who is sex mad, nerd who doesn't realise she's super hot, etc etc.

The dialogue itself is quite fun and well done though, I laughed a few times and generally enjoyed it. It's translated from Spanish and while the translation isn't professional or anything it gets the job done and isn't terrible Engrish like some on here. Also the MC is quite well done, yes the small town boy without a clue is well worn road but the execution is good. It's pretty funny seeing him totally clueless with girls at the start, and there's actually some decent character development so far as he learns to spit game.

The Bad

Grind: It's an open world game with quite a bit of grinding, by which I mean repeating the same events over and over until you have enough points to either change how that event plays out (going further with a massage, watching erotica instead of a romcom movie) or trigger an entirely new event. The number of repetitions required is really a bit too high, and it is annoying. At least there are well implemented mechanics for skipping time and no time limit so you can get to where you need to be in the week, but it's still pointless grinding.

Overall
Definitely worth playing at this point I think, if for no other reason than the amazing animations. The writing is also quite engrossing, and a reason to pick it up. Yes it's a cliche setup but the execution is spot on. Also the dev is quite active in the thread, which is a good sign for updates going forward.
