Did you ever figure this out or get a workable solution?

Yeah turns out if you're using SourceExplorer, you have to rename the .dat file so it doesn't contain any non-English characters.

I originally thought the issue was non-English characters inside the file itself, but it's just the name of the file. Highly suggest just making a copy of the file and renaming it something nice and simple.

Welp I've already lost all interest in the game at this point, but thanks for letting me know, that might come in handy if I wanna crack open another Clickteam game
