Starting with 1.0, I'm making sure that backups work across versions. If you backed up to version 0.5, I recommend starting over.

I've indeed identified this issue. It's related to loading a save after a version upgrade.
This backward compatibility issue will be fixed in the next version, which I'll release in a day or two.
Loading saves will no longer be an issue.

Version 1.1.14.1 is now live. The backwards compatibility issue with older saves has been fixed in this version .

The concept is great and the game is enjoyable for what it is but one small issue to experience the whole game i have to pay that is a thing i don't like, I understand the paywall for cheats but losing the interactions with a character bc the option is behind a paywall isn't good

Thank you for your comment. I completely understand your point of view, and I asked myself the same question.
I sought to find the right balance so that contributors would receive a rewarding reward without impacting the game for everyone else.
I opted for bonus content because I didn't think it was fair to just give a stat bonus that could be farmed in a few minutes.
But I'm open to ideas for benefits that are less frustrating for non-contributors .
