My question is did the dev for girlfriends unfettered continue his communication with the community?
Like I'd understand the complaint if he was completely ghosting. But the guy still shares what he's working on every week (most recent updates included upgraded sprites and even a teaser CG regarding the reimagined changing room scene) and he is also pretty responsive to patreons if you message him in discord. So that doesn't really feel abandoned to me.

This game is dead and gone, the developers have fled and gone into hiding, yet for some reason, there is still so much discussion about it.

So a genuine question for all those in the "ya'll are silly whiners, I believe in dev" camp from someone in the "mock dev" camp.
Will there's be a calender date which comes and goes with no release after which you'd change your views?
I.e. - best case scenario, this comes out later this week, people like me say "well that was some wait but this sure is fun now playing it!", but worst case, the delays keep coming, at what point do you lose your religion? A month from now? Or if nothing's released by year end? Or, is it irrelevant, and you don't see such criticism as ever appropriate?
For me it's less about the release date (since at the end of the day it's a free game worked on by a part time dev) and more about the communication from the dev.
I would flip sides if he just disappeared like a ghost and didn't communicate. As long as he's giving us updates every week or so like he has been I'm fine with waiting for whenever the game comes out.
Criticism is fine. I would go as far as criticism is good since the Dev can improve. However, the constant whining about things the dev has already addressed over and over is clearly not needed.

????? the last patreon update was 19 days ago on sept 24th, and in it the dev said that he was aiming for release that sunday. the sunday release never happened, and was never acknowledged. platinum subscribers have had zero update in almost three weeks.
you guys keep saying "look i admit his communication hasn't been the best" and then he keeps communicating poorly and you just keep defending, it's so bizarre.
Sorry, platinum subscribers have had updates every week brother. Just in discord. Three weeks ago he showed us some background character things he's done to give scenes more life. Then like two weeks ago he showed us the upgraded sprites for Ayumi, Ari, and Terrace. Then last week he showed us a CG teaser of the reimagined changing room scene. He's been very active answering our questions and stuff as well. Just cause you don't see a patreon post doesn't mean he's not communicating.

okay so you're admitting that you have to pay $15 to get any sort of update from the dev... why then are you here on a public free forum complaining that people feel abandoned and in the dark? the dev is not communicating with anyone else!
paying $15 a month just to get updates on a game that never comes out is such a funny value proposition, but i guess he gives you guys headpats in discord so you also get to feel like teacher's pet

The original question was what would cause supporters to turn on the dev. And I said not communicating.

Aye, this dev has been active on Discord even for non-plat members. I don't blame him for not being AS frequent a commenter on F95 though. It's either someone crying about not getting his/her freely pirated content yet, or a "white knight defender of love and peace" looking to silence any and all criticism of the project they love. All actual in-game content discussion has ceased.
Anyone that actually wants to keep up to date and avoid the vomit in this thread, just join the discord. I was respectfully critical of his communication and he responded respectfully back. I read through the history there just now - and yes he does pop in once in awhile (from what i can see in general) to post messages.... still.....I dunno, just have this sneaking suspicion....
I wanna know who in this thread corresponds to that one obnoxious guy on there, good lord he monopolizes the general channel.
Anyway it was good to get some additional context and backstory so thanks for mentioning the discord.
