But the criticism part (you're a bit soft on that) is also the reason we take the game for free now so I don't need to give someone 10k to make a statement about it.
This is the part where you actually decide to support/buy something or not. Still I'll agree that the game had a great start for an AI game but we still need to see something in the real world now to confirm it and all what happened the past months don't help building a virtuous circle of trust and reliability. (at all).

Hope it changes and today he took a good first step, even though we know at the same time that the first discord post where he said he would do his best to release it on the 14th wasn't true at all (again).

I agree with you that we'll have to wait and see once the update is out to judge if the wait was worth it. However, I am VERY optimistic. If you followed this game from the beginning there has quite literally never been a single time where Tori underdelivered in terms of the actual game. You can make complaints about communication or how he handles the financial stuff. But there has never been a time where Tori released an update and I was disappointed with the quality, size, story, etc.

While the art has been a significant focus over the past few months I've also been making important changes to the game's flow, the two-path system, and how the later sections develop. These elements are equally, if not more, important than the art updates, and they take time to get right.
I started this project because I wanted to create something I would enjoy playing and thought was good. That's still the main goal. Yes, it's taking longer than expected, and believe me, I feel the pressure. But rushing just doesn't make sense to me.

should have paused the subscriptions way before, and to not put his dev diaries through a paywall with this type of terrible continued communication.

Patreon has rules that you can't put 18+ content be it written or images for free, they need to be behind a paywall

On patreon there's a difference between FREE and PUBLIC. I know because I support a couple of projects...
Public content can be viewed by anyone, no account needed. Free content can be accessed by free members, you need an account for that one.

It would seem to me that that particular rule makes sense when: adult content must be for MEMBERS only (paid or free), and NOT PUBLICALLY accessible.
Because patreon can request a free members' ID to confirm their age (because they have an account registered), and can't do so for an anonymous browser.

TLDR:
The difference between a free and paying member in regards to accessing adult content is ZERO from a legal standpoint. The only difference would be adulthood which can be confirmed in both FREE and PAID members, and not PUBLIC users.

I would love for anyone to prove me wrong by linking docs where the mentioned rule is stated. Because if this is true several creators I know are 'breaking the rules' right now.
You mentioned LeStag, what happened with them?

Guys, the only thing is for sure that Tori has failed, she has not kept her own promises and dates, Free or paid, if you make a public work you cannot expect praise in case your words are not followed by facts, to date, this is a fact, last update on April 30, today November 14 we still read about a remasted not yet finished, it is therefore, that the new adventures are very future to come, Tori has failed her own promise.

Yes, Tori has done a very bad job at communicating timelines to his community. He is absolutely guilty of that. And he literally just did it again by getting peoples hopes up the remaster may be out today and again didn't hit that 'goal'. He does deserve criticism for this. And I think he acknowledges this and that's why he paused Patreon, which he didn't have to do.

At the end of the day, Tori didn't force anyone to sub or keep their subs active. People did that on their own to support him.

If people choose to continue to support a project they believe in, even though the author hasn't been good with timeline communication, or update frequency, that is for them to decide.

We're all here because we love the game and want the update asap, but Tori has been focusing on quality and re-imagining the game with updated art and a splitting path system; and it looks awesome from what he's posted.

Did the majority, or at least a lot of players ask for this? I don't think so and I doubt it. But at the end of the day, Tori is making the game he wants to make, and I'm so excited for once it's finally released.

I encourage people to sub back to Tori once he releases the update for a time you deem reasonable, if it's only one month, that's fine.

I know one thing for sure, is that almost all of the main complainers on here are playing this game for free. Tori doesn't owe you guys shit.

What would Tori "YandereDev2" Miata have to realistically do to win his audience back? It seems like new visuals and a few more scenes won't cut it anymore.

But the issue is he hasn't lost his audience....at all.
