Among the most notable games that got neutered to comply with Patreon's demands is Perverted Education.
They had to remove the incest option as well as any coercive themes. The MC now gives enthusiastic consent to everything that happens to him and all the flavor text reflects his enjoyment in his "predicament."
It went from being a game about a meek, albeit pervy, boy being coerced into a sissy/femdom relationship with his manipulative teacher to a game about a pervy boy and his teacher playing a naughty little game on a purely consensual basis. It's not the same anymore and it's all because they evoked the ire of their source of funding.
I see. Interesting. There are so many adult games with forced themes on Patreon though. I'm actually not really interested in creating incest content (sorry ^^), so that part doesn't bother me, but the forced part is obviously a big part of the genre. I'd advise against that. The reason a lot of games get away with it is because most of them are too small to get noticed by Patreon staff. PE got BIG, as in bigger than most non pornographic projects. It's best just to lay low and let them contact you if they have a problem with it.
I didn't mean to patreon ^^ but other developers. I think the Patreon has grown pretty fast so it could lead to them noticing, but also I'm not too sure if it really has any content that they'd think would be weird like... the whole point is that the main contestant agreed to get on the show and the tfs don't contain actual forced sex yet. they will contain sex at some point of course but I don't think it'll be like a trance, but more like a gradual acceptance and therefor being ok with the act. so i don't really see what the problem would be.
You... make a fair point. Even the game I mentioned didn't really need to remove any scenes as far as I know. They just had to change the flavor around them. It's all the same events but under a different context. But, as you well know, context matters a lot when it comes to this sort of thing.

Well it's worth noting that PE had to remove optional content. So I doubt they'd be very happy with you hiding your "flavor added" version behind their paywall.if they come at me I'll just have two different versions, one with flavor added and one without it
More important to note, though, is that Patreon seems very fickle about all of this. A much smaller game, Earn Your Freedom, had to remove their incest shit but got to keep all sorts of coercive themes. On the flip side, an absolutely massive game, The Company, seems to have no problem staying on Patreon despite A TON of incest and the game literally being about drugging people to make them do your bidding while working for human sex traffickers.
The scary thing about Patreon is just how damn arbitrary it all is.
to be fair, I can see how it can be difficult and nuanced, especially since their official stance in their FAQs is that adult content is art, but then some things are not allowed by payment providers and who decides what is what in this huge sea of content. other websites like Twitch are going through the same ideology problems right now with their advertisers not wanting "sexualized content". it's weird.
obviously, nobody in this understands that sexual kinks are something that can't just be removed and it's better to have a sexual outlet in the form of a video game rather than real life, but it is what it is.
as for them not wanting me to only change the Patreon version, I don't think they would even know about another version, nor care about it. i never even mentioned it on Patreon so far. do you think they are looking here or on tfgames to check if that version has the same dialog lines? i don't think so, but I also wouldn't understand what would bother them about it. it's about the content on their page.

well.. people have requested some bigger breast sizes for the next version so that makes her a bit more "alien" but not by that much.there will be bad ends for all contestants as well as a story finale if you survive the whole show without one.
