VN - Ren'Py - Bright Lord [v1.0 Rework] [KissKiss Studio]

I practically don't write reviews but I am very disappointed with this game, there is practically nothing in it that I could describe as good, I will only mention a few elements that are quite weak.

-Renders aka character design, the 3 main characters look like clones, the same faces, the same body type (huge boobs), at the beginning of the game I had trouble recognizing who was who, the only distinction was "this one is a mommy, let's give her pubic hair and the sisters will be bald" Additionally, the renders themselves, although good, are not top-of-the-range (many games have shown how to make great renders) and due to their generic nature and the "bimbo" effect, they are more repulsive than encouraging.

- The main character is completely useless, he always talks about not touching the "group" (sic!), he constantly cries about how poor and manipulated he is, but you can't see it at all, the game feels like the developer wanted to do the most a vanilla game because he is afraid of anything more hardcore, but at the same time he would like to make a hardcore story and it doesn't work at all. A story in which a boogie woggie possesses a guy and controls women cannot have a hero who is a complete twat, it would be funnier to make him gay and as if he had to have sex with women in great disgust.

- The sex scenes, something that should be the strongest element of this type of story (and porn games in general), were completely unmemorable, vanilla and even boring, the game's theme was dark about a creature without morals and most of the scenes were ordinary blowjob or boring sex scenes when the "inner the voice corrupts the character. All this corruption is also poorly done, and although the idea of the subconscious doing it is interesting, it is done poorly and boringly, it comes down to "do it, do it, you want it blah blah blah"

- most of the scenes are very dark, to the point that you can't see shit in them, I understand that this is an artistic intention and the game was supposed to be a horror game and very "dark" (which completely failed) but it does not mean that the scenes ( especially sex) are supposed to be dark and hide 3/4 of the scene

- The plot wasn't bad in general, but in my opinion it was poorly written, and what's more, the main character is very annoying, as I wrote above, I wasn't more interested in what would happen to him, I was more interested in whether he would become a loser, he would finally become a bright lord because he I felt dissatisfied with the shallowness of all dialogues and "actions". Like the already mentioned constant crying about the "group" or even the scene in which he killed one of the bogeymen in the woman and instead of using her or turning her into a sex slave (after all, his parasite needs energy), he gives her water, says that it will be cool and gives it back completely nobody knows why. The choices also don't seem to matter because despite choosing all the wrong options, the main character hasn't changed a bit except for crying more about how he is a monster.

TL;TR The game disappointed me a lot, because I was expecting a dark erotic horror with elements of control, but what I got was an annoying main character, 3 family members who look like clones with a bimbo build, completely vanilla scenes, and a plot that doesn't hold together with constant jumps between flashbacks, the world of dreams, and other places, and the general problem with the desire to build a dark "evil" world and the fear of any more "bold" actions

The rendering is the best part of this game but the actual game is taking a long time to finish and any momentum of the story, which is decent enough, loses it because of the time between updates. I would accept the wait if it had content, a great example of a game here is Being a DIK which is going 5 years now being on the site since 2019 great renders as well, and a great game the difference between this game and Being a DIK is the CONTENT. Chapter 1 focuses on world-building, establishing narrative, and characters. Chapter 2 expands on the narrative and characters such as the main girls by making branches for each girl which down the story the player will need to make a big choice, chapter 3 deals with the choices the player made from those chapters. There is FOCUS on each chapter. Another example is Superhuman. Great story and consistently good updates. Each update ends with setting up the next update that way the player is engaged and wanting for the next update. The game going on for 3 years and has more content and engagement than this game which has better art but lacks variety unlike Superhuman which has the same premise, the MC having superpowers. A third example and a big one since it just finished is a game from 2019, City of Broken Dreamers. Unique art, unique atmosphere, unique characters, and good story has more content and has finish in five years to what this game hasn't even finished from part 10 it seems and in each parts there isn't much content unlike with CBD. And it seems the creator is moving to another project which will take more FOCUS away from this thus derailing whatever wait and/or anticipation for the next update.

Also can we just stop with the Landlady and acquaintance and just state it as it is.Hell just go with stepcest all the way cause the dialog already implies and its less CRINGE

SUMMARY: Very good? No.

PROS:

1. Stunning models, unrealistically good looking, bragging rights to the designer but doesnt make for a very realistic scenario.
2. Animations are very nice also.
3. Writing is decent, structured well enough.
4. Story is different, unique and I would say good simply because of these aspects, but...Check CONS

CONS:

1. Development is going on nearly 4 years from first version, even got a rework, which is good, but honestly, I don't feel the developers heart is in it.
2. Story is IMO all over the place and when it does get some direction, it takes a hell of a long time to get anywhere, this game has been in such long development that it could have been done twice over already.
3. Writing is poor, the dialogue is not terrible but the grammar is shit. The developer gives you options to set the relationships but its such a lot of puke around ACT2 already where the "landlady" is no longer called whatever you called her nor the other members of the "household" (lets cut the bullshit, its written to be family) yet its one minute mom, then landlady then father Christmas or something else. Don't you proof read your work? Again, developer is good at visuals, shit at writing and story IMO.
4. Characters seem or want to be complex, but the game story and narratives are so slow (in terms of development). There is very little story here, very little character background and depth. The dev wants to pretend that there is but really, the player really knows little to anything about the characters before the possession or after.
5. Updates are so infrequent and often small with little content and usually you end up having to replay the game from start to get the thread of the story again or your old saves simply fuck out...

TLDR: This game boggles my mind in a way, I even had a hard time typing up a review, it simply was not thought out well in terms of execution of its story. The story is decent, but falls flat due to poorly fleshed out characters, slow development time and ultimately just doesnt have the cohesion to give it a better rating. The developer should focus more on the aforementioned and less on the the models IMO. GET THE GAME DONE

It was a masterpiece. The story, the elaboration of the characters, high-quality design. What more can you ask for? You will meet a green-eyed demon who will not leave you indifferent. I envy those who can experience for the first time this dark but at the same time fascinating story.

Another "corruption" game where I'm supposed to believe that the MC gets cock blocked from fucking his family. This is despite the fact that he literally gets full control over the girls. This has been done to death and this game offers nothing new to the genre. The same bimbo looking models with the same looking unrealistic MILFs where it's trying too hard to make them look older but not too old at the same time.

Honestly, a solid 4. The animations for the sex scenes are really short and you can't control anything, it's basically just watching the scene. Also, the writing is pretty average and the plot tries to be deeper than it actually is. The corruption/love routes are also a huge lie like a lot of people say in other reviews. There are a few scenes where you can move around the rapey stuff if you're on the love route, but the general premise is going to be the same: raping girls. There's heavy corruption either way and over time you change the girls to be more, well, corrupted, and they become more open to your shenanigans. I can understand why people would be pissed off if they were expecting the love stuff and instead they were forced into the rape stuff, however that's pretty much what I'm after so that's lucky. If you're not into that, you will hate this game and you should definitely avoid it. Also, the girls all look really hot and they have big tits so again if that's not your thing, you won't like this. Overall, a pretty damn good corruption game, but the love/corruption routes are the same, and the rape is mandatory, you should not play this if you aren't accepting of this.

Full marks for rendering, but the animation scene is too short and the plot is decent. The only downside is that corruption and love route scenes are the same. Choosing a love route will still control the protagonist's family. What I hate the most is controlling corruption..This is rape，I can't accept it.

You get to define the relationship with girls, but writing is so inconsistent. In some scenes, "Landlady" acts like MCs Mom, then in another scene she acts like MC is just an acquaintance.
The "Dad" of the "Family" died and MC didnt even go to the funeral because he was too busy. That would make sense for "Landlord" but not for "Dad"

There is no "normal" sex scene in the game (at least in the beginning, i just couldn't play anymore..). You have option to agree to sexually abuse the girls, or if you try to resist then you are forced to do it. Dev calls this Love and Corruption routes. Raping is neither love nor corruption in my opinion
I Have no idea how this is not tagged with rape, because this literally is rape, MC either uses mind control to rape girls or he is forced to
Also on top of that, in one scene you have 3 options. 1. Rape semeone. 2. Rape someone else, 3. kill random person. WTF.

Never have I been this annoyed over a game before, made me waste a few hours of my life trying to make it seem as if the choice you take have any significance. The "love" and "corruption" route have no differences at all, MC still ends up fucking his family using mind control. The LIs are hateable, they blame MC for everything for no reason. There is so much useless drama between the LIs. The older sister is an entitled bratfy bitch who thinks everyone except her is in the wrong. Throughout the entire game, the players have no agency. The MC has been gripped by the balls and is controlled by the bright lord no matter what choices you make. Unlike the description suggests, you cannot "resist" him, this is a fully corruption based game but the dev of the game is too spineless to advertise it as that. Atleast have the balls to own what you are instead of wasting player's time.

Great game. Deserved way more attention.

Very HQ renders but lacks enough Content or should i say just barely adequate (It's just straight up seggs, NO foreplay, NO romance, Only Seggs!)
Models looks great. Nice Costumes. Nice Cosplay by chloe too. If Cosplay/CFNM Seggs scenes would've been there it would be Excellent!

It's an excellent game. The characters and renders are so perfect that I loved playing it. The plot is quite nice too. At the beginning of the game I didn't thought that it'll turn out this good but then gradually it keeps getting better and better. Keep up the good work dev .

Let's start with obvious: the girls are 10, models (including monsters) are great and detailed. Outfits are perfect, but I think it would have been better that the girls would change their outfits that show so much skin a little bit later in the game.

The story is intriguing, I actually read. Well, except some moments. Dialogs sometimes feel stretched or mentioning things that were established before. Could be so to remind player what happened on previous release, but I don't believe that.

At first the story was bright, then it had some sort of dark twist, I kind of felt bad even, later on it got bright again. So it already has full emotional journey of game or hollywood movie

I am considering to replay the game (even though it is not finished) again, because it feels like your decisions matter, there was reference to one of them in the game - "you should have done this as I told you" - or something like that. But I'm not sure, either way, worth replaying.

EDIT: forgot to mention that at some points Landlady looked younger than her daughters, and it threw me off a bit. But the game is so good, that this is probably the worst thing about it.

PROS
- Great renders
- Interesting combination of horror & erotica theme
- The Paranormal part of the story is interesting

CONS
- Pacing and writing is bad. There is not much character development.
- Sex scenes is short. The scene between love and corruption is not much different.
- Too much unnecessary drama and very one dimensional characters
- Players choice is useless as the story path is predetermined
- Conversation flow is bad and childish.
- All the LIs behaves like kids throwing tantrums and does act their age.

There are much better games out there. Would only recommend this if you;re really bored. This is a Kinetic Novel pretending to be a Visual Novel

To put it succinctly, this game is fantastic with a unique storyline and impressive graphics. The pacing is decent, though the sex scenes lack sensuality, and the expressions of the characters could be improved as their faces appear somewhat stiff. Despite these minor drawbacks, it is a must-play game, offering a refreshing and more serious tone compared to other games on the site. Kudos to the developer! I'm excited to see how the game will evolve in the future.

A good visual novel that is well done overall.

The biggest plus to the game is the amazing character models and renders. The writing and story are above average. A few things don't make sense here and there but it's a somewhat unique story.

The love points don't do much in the game and the love & corruption points only change like one or two choices. The game is light on choices and the story is mostly linear.

There are English problems throughout the game and it could really use a proofreader. Some sentences just don't make sense in English. 90% of the time I can tell what the author is trying to say but not in every scenario.

All female characters in the game have the same body type - bimbo (huge breasts, large rounded asses, and tiny waists) except for the younger sister to some extent. More variety in character models would be welcomed!

The mother/landlady and office secretary in the game have breasts so large that they don't look real/natural. Step away from the breast sliders please!

Some of the female models' makeup looks funny/weird on close up renders (mostly the older sister). I'm not sure why, it just does.

The younger sister is the only main LI that has a somewhat pleasing personality overall. The mother and older sister are witches for most of the game.

The sex scenes are average to above average overall. The sex scenes are animated. The animations are smooth but lack adequate movement and/or penetration. Those hips need to be moving and they barely move. Nearly all penetration scenes only move back and forth maybe an inch or two at most. When the MC has a huge 12 inch dick, it looks funny! It makes the scenes look awkward which isn't good. I will say that there are two deepthroat scenes with good penetration.

The animations detract from the sex scenes in some instances. The animations are too robotic and sometimes the character models look like statues having sex as a result. Some additional body and head movement would improve the animations a lot. It would be cool to see their head slowly turning towards the MC or the player which few authors do. Give them some facial expressions and move their eyes a bit. I've only seen a few authors do this well.

The mother/landlady in the game wins terrible mother of the year award! She doesn't act like a mother and is verbally abusive so often to the point of cringe. The older sister is overly entitled and rude too much IMO. I guess the drama has to come from somewhere right?

Fix the English, improve the animations, and lengthen the sex scenes a bit and it may turn into a 5 star game. Some non-bimbo female characters would be welcomed also.

Overall, I had a fun time with the game even though it made me cringe at times. The story is about a dysfunctional family which is worsened by supernatural forces. Don't take the plot too seriously and you will probably have a good time.

I recommend the game and encourage others to give it a try.

V. phase 2 0.9 part 3 fixed (which will no doubt become even more convoluted)

right off the bat the art is great. scenes do the job and visually pleases the eye.
the plot is good. it has a decent hook to it and is different as much as it is similar.
game design is the right choice. this works as a VN as it requires the immersive style of a choice based novel to keep immersion high. trying to break that immersion with something like sandbox would weaken it's hook hugely. it can work for some stories but not this one.

the biggest downside to this game is by far the writing. it has so many inconsistencies it drowns out all the good. does the writer even know the routes? i suspect not as the crossover is obvious.
not only are the characters inconsistent with the stats, MC included, but the story presentation is full of more holes than a taiwanese mega brothel.

why would an MC on a love route be so aloof and treat the women as tools, the same way as a mixed route?
poor writing drags this down considerably

The renders of the LIs are good and they're hot, but oh boy are they annoying. The little sister and the mom are cool at the beginning, but the mom soon becomes a hysterical mess. Worst mom of the decade, honestly. She hates all her children and treats them like garbage and she spends almost every scene yelling like some stereotypical crackhead mom who abuses her children.

Let's not even speak about the older sister, she is your typical bratty and entitled rich asshole, like one of those "young masters" from Chinese novels. She apparently hates the MC because he didn't want to drop out of college for her, lol and she acts like a snobby rich brat for most of the game until she is mind-broken by having two "alter egos" inside her. Then she's suddenly all mellow and loving.

The little sister is perhaps the only human-like being amongst the LIs, but she becomes a jealous mess, which is understandable, honestly and still makes her feel like a human, but I believe in this case she should've remained cool-headed to provide relief from all the crazy women in this AVN. Then there's Liza who was mind-broken from the beginning and is always crazy about the MC.

The MC is alright, I guess. He acts like your typical dude. Not too much of a pushover and you get the chance to stand up for yourself a few times, but it never unfolds in a satisfying manner. The MC always takes the blame for more than he should and puts the blame on him while everyone else berates and treats like him garbage. Not to mention he has a powerful demon in his mind controlling him. Not sure how he hasn't killed himself, yet. Dude is not having a good time, at all.

Last is the plot which is not good at all, either. You have to really shut down your brain if you want to have any chance at enjoying this. Many unexplained events happen and they're just accepted by everyone, nobody wondering it even happen, like when the MC gets blamed for someone's suicide without any proof at all. But well, who knows.

Lastly, I do not feel that choices matter at all. No matter what you do, it seems the events unfold in the same way. Just a few differences in the dialogue and not much else. Overall, there's nothing enjoyable about this aside from the good-looking renders. Maybe I'd give it 3 stars if the sex scenes were good, but they're short and the animations are awkward.

This game did surpass my expectations by a long shot. I thought it's gonna be like all the other taboo harem type games that're only good at half-decent sex scenes. Imagine my surprise upon the realization that there's an actual story that hooks me.

I'll admit that the so-called story only makes sense on a surface level, think but a lil harder about it and whole thing comes crumbling down. But I appreciate that there is at least a tight enough narrative progression that keeps me engaged. Tons of other VNs fail at this very simple task.

I do feel that the older sister's corruption progress was too rushed. I don't feel the hostage exchange they did was great enough a turning point to justify the sister's sudden change of personality, considering the mom and the other sister were progressing much more naturally.

The sex scenes need more work. The models are too hot to deserve such "simplistic" sexual treatment. The dev needs to get more invested in building up these scenes. They are the purpose of the game after all.

All in all, in an environment where hundreds of substandard VNs are being produced daily, the decency and wholeheartedness of Bright Lord is very much appreciated. The road ahead is still long, there are still lots of room for improvement.

This game is pretty good at making me hate some of the characters. Shoutout to Chloe and the Landlady (who btw doesn't even have a fucking name) for being some of the most hateable, dimwitted bimbos in existence.

Good quality renders, and the story can be quite interesting at times. The improvement in both how the renders are used for animations or even for regular scenes is notable across the game as you play. I recommend it, but it does infuriate me at times.
