That's good, because your error seems to be a self-inflicted one. There should not be a 'game/script.rpy' at all unless you're playing it through the SDK or something similar. In which case you're on your own.

The game proper manages that shortcut in BKinit.variables.rpy.

You really need to relearn how the start of the game works. You can't do most of the things you suggest until you finish the first chapter.

Maybe. I never actually learned any of this, because I never played vanilla for more than about a month in 2019.

Yet:

• Doing nothing is largely a chapter one thing and freely available.
• Reserving AP can be done at any time.
• Ditto for training a girl until she can handle quests and then doing those.

Shop upgrades and customer management are admittedly a chapter 2+ thing.

I'm also still not clear what exactly is injuring your girls. Remember, I'm from the paradigm where the brothel starts off being a complete fire hazard, rapists injure girls, the MC pushing them too hard does as well, arsonists are the bane of your life in the slums and every time you let even one coin peek out from under your mattress the cat burglars invade en masse. So I get easily confused as to what is actually affecting you if you're not clear.

If you spend anything, its on flowers early game because its hard to aquire good named girls without them. You see a flower in a color you dont have, you buy it.

Yeah, locking the flowers until chapter 4 has been one of my biggest issues with Goldo's shop routine. My shop always stocks all colours, or nearly so.

I went for a complete start over and really getting through the first chapter legitimately is a milestone. Everything else is just gravy after that.

Easy. Search BKscreens.rpy for "dismiss" (with the quotes). There should be four lines with 'Return' and then "dismiss". There's an if girl.free: before each. Change it to if False: x4.

Boom. Done. You're again a full-on sweet-talking, waif-enslaving evil pimp, just as Shalia intended.

I think you're missing the point. I'm giving an example of what I would consider additive gameplay elements that could possibly decrease the likelihood of a player to engage in undesirable behaviors (in this instance goldo has specifically identified save-scumming as something he wants to reduce or prevent). It may take more development effort to implement but I argue that it will provide a more positive game experience than employing prohibitive/reductive methods to control player behavior.

I'm not. But I am starting to think that you are missing mine not just a little but by a mile or more.

Yes, it'd be nice if the anti-Gizel-scumming was more than just a few lines of code. Since Goldo's dev time is very finite, what do you propose he give up instead? And remember, he also needs to like implementing your proposal as well.

And adding a complex feature with a bunch of new magical-trauma traits, 'broken girl' merchants or new spells is by no means guaranteed to make the game better. Game designers play with such ideas all of the time, and a lot if it ends up in the trash bin because what seemed cool actually wasn't.

He has not. Goldo has expressed a desire to have a singular high-stakes feature involving Gizel he'd like to be more immune to save-scumming than other parts of the game. All other saving and loading will 99%+ likely stay as it is now.

You don't argue. You state with no evidence to back it up (which is a problem since feature creep is a thing one must always watch out for, and especially as a dev with Goldo's limited resources), and under what seems to me to be an erroneous assumption that Goldo (or anyone else) wants to heavily restrict save-scumming or do away with it altogether.



Edit: Ultimately, though, I think your proposals are band-aids. Or at best an attempt to fix a leaky roof by building a whole new house.

What we really need and what would solve both this problem and then some is an alternative, 'evil' method of employing girls that makes having at least some disposable girls attractive. The problem is not 'punishment' - unless you're one of those people to whom a low dice roll is an insult from the gods/developer -, it's that the player is gambling with his seed money and the results will fluctuate too much. Goldo needs to keep this down, for the player's own good. He also wants the feature to be 'realistic' and dramatic. Nobody has yet come up with a solution that ticks all these boxes, for Gizel in particular or 'evil' players in general. We had a small discussion about an 'evil' (and also 'neutral') employment scheme on the now-defunct HHS forums, and nothing anyone came up with looked promising enough for Goldo to start working on it.

I think it would be absolutely hilarious if you could sell/swap traumatised girls with Kosmo. I can already picture how he would fall in love with such girls; boasting about crippling your operation by poaching such raw talent right from under your nose.

Wouldn't really consider that a purely 'evil' act though.

Girl packs are usually downloaded as .zip files, and they should be extracted to the folder "game/girls". When you are done, there will be a folder in "game/girls" with the name of the girl, and maybe other information like what source the girl can be seen in.

The "images" folder is one that the Ren'Py game system will automatically look in for pictures. There may be something wrong with one of your girl packs or your original install, if you continue to get a message like that. Post the message here.

Note that F95zone OP does not yet have latest base game download, needed for current patch.

So when a fight breaks out or goats stampede through or something and you get +100 dirt and you can't afford to clean up immediately so everyone falls sick and no girls can work so you have to get a loan but you just keep losing money so you go bankrupt and it's game over...

What do you do? It seems really imbalanced, like a long drawn out game over situation you can't stop or avoid...

Avoid being in this situation. Have a reserve for rainy days.

Get enough security to lessen or avoid the blow (e.g. 24+ goons+other security in chapter 2 or 40+ in chapter 3 avoids the problem entirely, 16+/20+ halves the penalty). You can get +security perks/traits on your girls or reserve AP for the MC to do some security work himself and add his Strength to the security value.

There's security furniture, which I think now works. There was a time when it did nothing.

If nothing else, sell girls one by one until you can afford to clean up. At worst, you should end up with one maintenance-free girl due to Sill, and work back up from there.

Play on an easier difficulty, possibly.

Save scum or cheat dirt back to zero if it really bothers you.

Personally, I also dislike how little help the goons are during an actual event (their number gets divided so they contribute roughly the same over the entire game, equivalent to ~8-12 Strength to be precise, despite threats and costs scaling higher and higher). I also dislike how not-random security is. Sometimes hiring one more goon is the difference between getting stampeded and a slightly noisy evening.

If anything, there should be a trainer that allows you to have significantly better security. Alas, Maya is pretty gimped.

When you have a full brother and no space at a farm (but you can buy a pen) and you buy a slave, click on the option to send her to the farm and buy another pen, she gets sent to your brothel instead. Now I have 9/8 girls in my brothel.

I also think this 100-dirt security event is too drastic; we can encourage Goldo to lessen it or provide coping methods, but he has resisted in the past (and this is truly one of the few potential game over conditions here for a game challenge).

After I brought this up elsewhere, others gave me suggestions for handling the aftermath:

• Since the "clean up" immediately button on Brothel screen has a significant cost penalty, you can keep the brothel closed and clean up gradually by maxing cleaners. Requires a cash buffer to pay daily expenses, as Jman says.
• Brothel is closed and therefore not contributing to sickness when no girls assigned to normal jobs or whoring.
• Girls can be assigned to Posting quests or classes, or to farm, with no sickness risk.
• Food and items can help girls who were hurt in the security event, but may be too expensive to use in trying to keep girls working in brothel during cleanup. Stock up on one or two in advance.
• If in later game with Banker location available, consider a small loan for expenses until can finish cleaning & re-open. First-time loan on first going to/below 0 gold is also attractive at no interest, but only puts you to 250 gold in hand.
• And Jman's suggestion of selling off a girl would still be better than Game Over...

Does seem like it needs a fix; a related farm exploit was mentioned but not this one.

I only have three full sisters, so haven't seen this in my gameplay.

Yea, if it happens no problem but if it is going to create a death spiral I think I'll just cheat, too bad.

I get 2 different errors with Boa Hancock and Hinata Hyuga. Here i post with Boa Hancock, I've already tried patches and fixed girl pack, but only thing thats fix this, is delete them. Can somebody help with this error? Error acquired on startup.

This function was added in the Feb 11 v 0.2 Release base game. You need to update & start new game for these two to work, due to compensating for different girlpack folder structures.

Non-tag parts of girlpack filenames are irrelevant, but can be useful when combining packs from different makers/sources. The Ren'Py error in this and most cases tells what is wrong/missing; occasionally it is obscure.

Edit:
Although under further investigation, the Boa girlpack in Basic Girlpack v 0.2 which this is probably from does not include a file "dancer (0).jpg", so either that file should be created, or (preferably) the _events.rpy example line should be edited to use existing file.
Here is a replacement _events.rpy for Boa's girlpack from Basic Girlpack v 0.2. I am starting tests of it, which also contains several edits for issues I've previously mentioned (use diff/compare if curious). Rename to "_events.rpy" if downloading adds a numerical prefix.
