I am proud to introduce the Completely Online RPG Maker Game Translator, an application that I personally developed to automatically localize your RPG Maker games. This tool requires absolutely no downloads or installation. My goal is to make the translation process fast, accurate, and safe.

Important Notices & Compatibility!

  • This tool is currently still under development (Beta), but it is already complete and stable enough to be used for real game translation projects. I welcome feedback to continue improving it.
  • Browser Compatibility: For now, the application only works in Chromium-based browsers (due to reliance on the showDirectoryPicker function). I am actively working on a version compatible with all major browsers.
Core Features & Intelligent Translation:

My platform uses an intelligent parsing system specifically designed for the RPG Maker file structure:

  • Player-Facing Translation Only: The system automatically filters out critical code elements, such as file names, variable identifiers, and scripting commands. This ensures that only the text visible to the player is translated, helping to prevent crashes and in-game blockages caused by faulty localization.
  • Error Detection System: I have included a basic Integrity Check that scans translated strings for common issues or character sequences known to cause errors in the RPG Maker engine, providing warnings.
  • Advanced Customization: I offer complete customization of extraction rules for advanced users who need to modify exactly what data is translated and how it is extracted from the game files.
  • Future Development: I am actively working on a mod system to prevent text from being cut off in dialogue boxes and on other features designed to improve the quality of translated versions.
Handling Plugins (plugins.js):

My translator handles the plugins.js file to maintain consistency:

  • It searches for and cross-references existing translations so that all plugin parameters and descriptions are translated uniformly.
  • Warning: Certain plugins may use special characters ($*[]^, etc.) as internal commands. The translation of these specific parameters is outside my control and may lead to issues. I advise a careful review of plugin translations.
Flexible Translation Methods & Operational Warnings:

My tool offers you several options for translation:

  1. AI API Integration: Translate directly using powerful APIs that offer chat/completions endpoints. This includes providers like OpenAI, OpenRouter, Gemini, or any other compatible provider, for best results .
    • AI Technical Tip: If your API usage does not have severe request limits, consider setting a maximum input token size between 200–400. The system discards translations if it detects length inconsistencies (to maintain data integrity), and this is less likely to occur with smaller inputs. Additionally, the selected model must support JSON output.
  2. External Translation (XLSX Export): Export all text to a user-friendly XLSX format. You can translate the file using external tools (like Google Translate or human translators) and simply re-import the translated file back into my system.
  3. Operational Warning: For the translation step (API or XLSX re-import), please avoid processing more than one project at a time, as this could lead to data integrity errors.

  • It works best when translating from Japanese ( Regular expressions work better and tend to be simpler )
  • It is preferable to have some knowledge of regular expressions, but you can import the default configuration using the help button.

Free or paid?
The page is completely free; the only thing that might generate a cost is if you use the AI for translation, but it's based on the price of the provider's API. A game with a lot of text (about 30k rows) might require about 500k input tokens and another 500k output tokens. Using a small model like gpt-oss-20b (although it is recommended to use an uncensored model) , this is barely $0.5 per game, but using Google Translate by uploading it as a CSV has no cost whatsoever.
