I can't deny that I was confused when I read this, are we in wholeseome thread or vanilla thread? Then why are we talking about romance? One of these must contradict the rest.

When we talk about romance, I don't expect vanilla because it's kinky
When we talk about wholesome, I don't expect romance
So when we talk about vanilla, I don't necessarily expect romance or wholesome stuff

Examples:
Helping your abused married childhood friend is romance and wholesome, but not vanilla cause it's cheating.
Treating your harem like queens and don't do kinky stuff with them are vanilla and wholesome, but not necessarily romance.
Doing anal with your favourite prostitute outside the job (not paid) is romance, but not vanilla neither wholesome.

This is also a discussion thread so please correct me if I'm being too subjective.

Unity - Cat's Kiss [v14.02.23] [Narrator & Storia] | F95zone (!!)

I played that a year ago, welp, I checked and it is in my shit games list (1star). From what I remember the game lead you to a bad end if you didn't treat the cat well so it is a whoelsome game but not a good game.

RPGM - Completed - MECHANICA: A Ballad of the Rabbit and Mercury [Final] [Loser/s] | F95zone

Finally I thought you ignored me the last time I recommend it. It's a great game, but it depends on your understanding of the story, so for me it was long because I always messed up and had to go back to the starting point. If you know how the song gameplay works please explain it to me because it's very cool but I don't understand exactly how it works.

RPGM - Completed - Demon Speakeasy [Final] [Sloth Gamer] | F95zone (looks like wholesome harem)

You could say that, but it's a mediocre game. I was excited about the gameplay but it turned out to be fun at first and boring later on and you can't skip it.

RPGM - Completed - He Who Vowed to Create a Demon Harem [v1.13] [Avantgarde] | F95zone (looks like less wholesome harem, not too confident in this)

I played half of this game and it was good but I played it when it was MTL (pre-GPT-4) so my experience wasn't the best but it's still worth 4 stars. It's worth mentioning:

The game has a few (bad?) endings where the MC will settle down with one of the girls and give up on his adventure acessible by getting their relationship stat high enough and doing the corresponding event, these contain unique h-scenes with the gals knocked up with the MC's baby

For me they are bad endings, but for you it sound like what you are looking for.

VN - Others - Completed - Take me in and I'll love and serve you: Sweet and sexy life with a demi-human girl [Final] [Ammolite] | F95zone (this is the one im most interested in besides Cat's Kiss, this sounds REALLY similar to 1Room/teaching feeling/biosphere!! || just confirmed it's not incest, thank goodness)

Since it is tagged as a pregnancy, it is definitely a game of the year. If you have tried it, tell me if it is good.

When I talk about wholesome stuff, I mean that it's both vanilla (MY definition of vanilla is anything you would actually do IRL, and it would be acceptable. For example, BDSM, F/M dom, etc still falls under that category for me. I don't use vanilla to weed out kinky stuff, I use it to remove rape, ntr, etc), and it's also a romance game, or a game with an established relationship already.
A game doesn't need romance to be wholesome, but I much prefer to be building a relationship rather than just have a sex simulator with a girl that you're already in a relationship with, but I don't deny that it's still wholesome

A romance is not innately kinky, so I don't know why it can't be vanilla (though my definition of vanilla is just, NOT crazy stuff, kinky stuff is fine)

You walk away from playing 1Room, or TF, or Bottle Biosphere and feel like you've just played a super heart warming game filled with lots of romance and cuteness. These games have romance and are still really wholesome games
A vanilla game is traditionally just something without super kinky stuff (even if that's not my definition), but what about that makes it so romance and wholesomeness can't happen? Like, if I bring up 1Room again, there's basically nothing super kinky besides sex toys, but it doesn't cancel out the romance that's in the game (super good), and how overall cute and wholesome the situation is (helping a girl find people in her life after her family basically abandons her)

Something to do with prostitution or a one night stand, or any other circumstance that doesn't fit what this list is about.
I consider games with an established relationship to still fit romance, even if it's not like- in the process of becoming lovers. Any cute couple activities still fit what this list is about.

This is normal because the word "vanilla" is a subjective concept. In real life you can't make a harem, but for me I can marry three women tonight, so what is vanilla for me is not vanilla for you and vice versa. For example, anal is the core concept for me to identify what is absolutely not vanilla, but for a Frenchman it is his vanilla.

Yes, it is possible to have wholesome, romance, and vanilla in the same game, but these are rare cases and the proof is your struggle to find them.

If a romance isn't wholesome, then I'm just.. not playing the game? Having romance isn't like a free pass onto the list or something, it's just something that I need in a game to have it on here

Yes, it is possible to have wholesome, romance, and vanilla in the same game, but these are rare cases and the proof is your struggle to find them.

Ahh, you clearly didn't play enough western games. Most their games are MCs trying so hard to run away from any kind of responsibilities which pisses me off.

About finished with Cat's Kiss, should be a relatively short review so here's my main points:
1). Very cute game, there is no rape option
2). Romantic/Sexual development is.. not the best to say the least- though I don't have any issues with it on an actual wholesomeness standpoint (besides the fact that the way to start the sexual relationship is to.. touch her in her sleep until she wakes up and decides to have sex)
3). Cute artstyle- though I'm fairly certain a solid part of it is AI assisted.
4). Chinese (Taiwanese) game, translation isn't great and it has some unlocalized jokes/weird humor (I'm Chinese myself, not the biggest fan of chinese humor)- MC is horny and all but it's not that bad.

Overall, this is definitely a high tier game- not my favorite gameplay or story wise, but the art is pretty and it's generally an unproblematic game!

I decided to try "My Pig Princess" since it was suggested here.

The Game is VERY wholesome. I thought i wouldn't like the furry aspect but the character designs are cute whilst not fully overwhelming with the furry aspects. (Well there is still a lot)

You can decide fully wheter you only want to romance the princess or other characters too. (The princess has most content)

All in all a great wholesome game about self discovery and coming to live together with a pig princes... somehow. (AND BILLY)

Would recommend, currently took me about 2 days to play the 8 chapters, it's not finished tho and updates seem to be on the slower side.

(IDK if this fits here just thought I may try it out and share my experience xD)

Sooo, no one commented about "Another Chance" from TimeWizard?? It's a great game with tons of different characters and get really wholesome with some of the LIs!! Also, his community in Reddit are really friendly.

Of course it have it's flaws, like that the MC is a bit weird (but is having his own development), and some kinks or scenes that are, well let's say not all wholesome hehehe

Still I recommend it! Is one of my favorites, and is long with story and secrets even if it's still in development!

Played through about 5 minutes of Take me In, here's what I have to say:
1). I'm pretty sure this is a kinetic novel, I've gotten one choice so far and there is no pause/gameplay from what I've seen
2). MC is an asshole. Probably the worst MC I've seen in any game- though I'm 99% sure he gets better because of the power of love, or something (lol)

I'll play through about 5 more minutes of it, then if it is just a really fast paced VN/KN, I'll probably put it in extras- there just is no gameplay or anything other than watching really fast scenes go by (with.. not great romantic or sexual development)
