RPGM - Caliross, the Shapeshifter's Legacy [v0.9.29] [mdqp]

Pros:
+ Very female friendly porn. Lots of lesbian content and kinks that appeal to women. You can mostly control the content you want to see or not see (even vanilla heterosexual content with a baker)
+ Hot sex scenes, large variety
+ The smut integrates with the main storyline. Your smut choices matter!
+ Good puzzles
+ Replayable (also a con, see later)

Cons:
- Don't bother with combat or being smart, it's not worth doing outside of a purity run since your stats need to plummet to see certain H scenes
- Art is not horrible but not the best (this is more personal taste)
- There's lots of content and very long story lines that are easy to miss, I beat the game and I still need to play through it 1-2 more times with the walkthrough open. For example, there's 4 similar bars you can order drinks at and there's an entire 5+ mission arc I missed since there's no side quest or quest exclamation mark icon. I also missed the Succubus area apparently too.
- There's also many layers of mutually exclusive content since you can ally with different factions, meaning you have to replay the entire game, meaning you will have to grind the puzzles, tedious gold gain, and tedious map navigation

I played through it once, enjoyed it, and would recommend. Maybe I'll go for the different factions and smut choices in another year or two after I forget most of the puzzles.

Really dissapointing as a porn visual novel. AS a novelits good enough, but the visuals are not taht good, and the visuals are not that many compared to text.
Doesnt helop the fact athat there are a lot of black screens with just text, they are supposed to be transitions, I guess but they take too long. I always expect a new image to appear but many time the scene just ends.

Not the best Female protagonist game there. The inn events, are pretyt much 3, but they luck images, you never see people, only the girl so the scene relies heavily on text. Its a decent text and if it had images it would be pretty good, but there are no images.

Art is decent-ish, the girl is quite hot, but the quality is a little cartoonish and there are someimages where wholes are misplaces for the sake of something (I dont think someone drawin naked girls doesnt know how a vagina should look like).

Very underachieving and dissapointing. It has good ideas though, and some of the events I played are interesting, but not the journey and not the landing are satisfying

This is one of the best games on F95 zone. Sure it's an RPGMaker game but that's not really a bad thing. It has sexy times you can jump to. It also has non-sexy fun you can jump to. The main story line has dungeons very similar to a Link to the Past. All around one of the best H-games I've played since playing Sengoku Rance.

I feel this is the best adult game ever created. I am reallllllly into corruption and this game just nailed it. Great story and really hot visuals. That cowgirl stuff? Just titillating (pun intended). The only downside is that there is not more of it! Although an already huge game, I'm just greedy.

Is a good rpgm game that doesn't force you to grind level, monster drops, equipment with useless battles. The battes that you have to do are related to the quests that you are currently doing.
A lot of NPCs that MC can develop a relationship with some being good for the MC others bad were the MC is brainwashed into a dumb slut with hypnosis.
The game comes with a walktrough for both quest and the NPCs that you can have a relationship with so you don't waste time wandering around without knowing what to do next.
You can use cheats from the start so you don't need to discorver ways to chance the MC parameters and remove traits(which are only 6, could have more and maybbe some of that aren't a problem to have) that you don't want to have.
The ony problem is that you have to save a lot because some routes with NPC relationship exclude others and forces you to behave some way during quest. E.g: with you do the cowgirl route you can't interact with the vampires(vice versa) or that you can't interact wit another rare race if you enter the emperor's harem, etc. If a warning before making those choices coud be given would help a lot.

TLDR: Caliross v0.990 is a well written game with tons of content to enjoy. There are plenty of different fetishes to explore and none of it is forced on you.

PROS:
The MC is attractive and interesting.
The colorful cast of characters are fun and likable.
The main story is entertaining and revolves around dungeon diving to find your history and the origins of your, rather rare, race of people.
The puzzles and level design are just enough to be engaging without causing frustration.
Art is fantastic, even though the artist changes partway through development.
Lots of paths containing lots of kinks that you are basically free to explore at your leisure. (What this really means is you can bank loads of content for when you feel like it so you wont lose out on good "material.")

CONS:
Runs on an older version of RPGM

There is a lot of content for being submissive, and most of it is Female Domination (Lezdom) but there is maledom as well. The MC is also able to totally avoid all submissive content, and some paths provide a non-sub alternative.

Clarification of current tags: Futa/Trans content revolves around a single path and the MC is not the futa.

Great setting, characters, storytelling, and gameplay. I love the variety of the sex scenes and types of sex available. I also love that it doesn't veer into misogyny, which I see a lot in adult games with Female Main Characters.

Surprisingly long and detailed for an erotic game, had the perfect balance between good erotic content and wanting to continue the plot. Has a complete walkthrough guide and cheat codes in game, for if you want to look only for the sex scenes or jump ahead in the plot.
Has between 30 and 60 hours of content, more if you want to explore all the different routes.

Not a fan of the combat system, pretty lackluster, or the CG scenes, but the puzzles and "companion routes" are all pretty good. A wide variety of fetishes or romantic relationships for everyone.

Well damn, this is definitely a hidden gem.
This game is far kinkier than it seems.

Normally smutty games don't even manage to make me hard let alone get me off since most of them vanilla with pretty shit writing. This game actually managed to get me off. I am very impressed since it happens very rarely.
The game has a lot of tags actually, far more than the op implies. There is slavery, slave training, piercings, tattoos, humiliation, mind control, brainwashing.. to name a few.
Tags in the op don't even begin to reflect all this.

The game is using old version of RPGmaker, possibly 2000 or XP. Due to this you may want to download a program called: Sizer It will help you to resize the window in any size you want, default for this is F6 instead of the usual F5 but the size is locked to a couple specific ones that may not fit every taste so use Sizer if you find the default resizing to be lacking.
(To use it install the program, launch it, make sure game window is active, then press ctrl+window+z key and pick one of the sizes you like. Can also configure the hotkeys in the options of the program if you want.)

The game is also using rather interesting puzzles, you solve them with magic which you can use to move objects or do stuff like light fire. Very fun and a welcome deviation from the boring default RPGmaker grind.
There doesn't seem to be leveling in this game, instead you find trainers and items that can increase your stats.

I really like the content of the cow girl. The plot of making money and seeking political benefits for the master is unique. I hope to add more content in this area.
The disadvantage is too few pictures, many places have no pictures, only black screen.

This game is great cause the story is driving by it's own purpose. Not like some Japan games which everything is just meant to make sexuality happen. Making the whole story nonsense.
And spells can interact with the environment, it is just like playing DIVINE divinity 1and2 , make you feel like a wizard.

The best part are the many many fetishes you can live out, all on the opposite side of vanilla, while also not breaking the taboos (pedo, scat, necro, etc). So its in the perfect middle for that.

Only con I can really think of is the Art, if youre not into that. I do like it, but look at some screenshots to determin if its for you.

The only issue that I have is that I have to replay it from the start everytime an update hits and cant get very far because it is VERY good. Suffering from success imo.

Great game
Caliross isn't one of the many shitty female protagonist rpgm games, this gives me hope for the genre, I recommend you give it a try.

Pros

• Actually has a story and well defined lore
• It has a few rpgm battles, however they aren't filler if that makes sense. What I mean is that you aren't forced to go through an absurd amount of pointless and repetitive battles.
• Fun and varied gameplay, I loved the temples and when I needed help with it I just checked the walkthrough the dev kindly created.
• Nice Art, there is a bunch of cgs(400ish in the gallery but I think about 100-200 are unique) I don't mind the cgs shown on the game page on f95 but there are other better ones in game.
• I like the customization
• The dev has written alot for this game, some of the H scenes have about a paragraph dedicated to them, I believe this is a positive. Some may not like this but it's better than the alternative of a shitty story and gameplay with a CG.
• This game is made by an experienced/good dev, I don't know how to justify this point nut trust me you as you play through the game.

Cons

• The stat system of Willpower, Inhibition and Intelligence. This system is probably what I dislike most about this game. I understand what the author was going for but it undermines the rest of the gameplay experience, I don't believe it should be removed, however it should be overhauled.
• You can easily be railroaded into be complete submissive slut if your not careful.
• A lot of bugs, you have to use different save slots and save them often to counter them. Ex I randomly got all the traits in the game and some other stuff, I went back to a save from 30 minutes prior, I don't know what caused this.
• The paths. Though they are loved and add a lot to the game, you are pretty much railroaded into them one you start them and they change you character, I understand this is one of the main motifs of the game, however there should atleast be options other than avoiding the path(And missing out on alot) or being railroaded down the path.
• The main/early game needs more content. A lot of the content comes from paths in this game(Ex cowgirl, ponygirl, Sonya route), a player misses out on alot if they elect to not do a route. There should be a bit more focus on the main game. I think this would help the game grow, especially if some of the scenes are early into the game. One last thing is to have the ability to access the CGs you missed when you skipped a route, this can be done through the gallery or better yet in game. An example would be if you skip the Sonya route(Because your forced to get hynotised and get the titty lover trait, etc) you can still hook up with her(Seduction mechanic would be nice) and you can still do all the job events she offers.
• Finally, I understand one of the main themes of the game is hypnotism, submissive mc and corruption into slutdom but it would be nice to have more options/variations. For example why can't the mc have an option to dominate Aliza, why can't the mc find out Sonya's been hypnotizing woman into working for her and blackmail her, etc. Something like this would really attract new potential players, while keeping the old audience happy.

That's it, sorry if it's long I just wanted to provide an in-depth review to the community and I hope the dev reads this. One last thing, this game isn't the simple traditional H game, I recommend you actually play it, because if you here just to wank than this may not do it for you(But what I recommend is start with a low inhibition character, look at the walkthrough speed through some of the non H parts, get the sexual traits at the circus, then go on the paths and the jobs to get the H scenes, I also recommend going to Solina there are a couple of nice H scenes there )

First thought about the game was, while playing it a few hours: Why not starting with a story, giving some action?

Instead:
- You start in a big town and it feels empty. There are many buildings, but mostly filled with only uninteresting NPC's and nearly no loot.
- At first you need to work to get money, but those text scenes are sadly mostly boring. Just a stupid game mechanic which is wasting the time of the player instead of doing something for the story.
- It is not a sex game, more a text game with very few pictures. This I could tolerate if there would be any interesting and/or a funny story and also interesting NPC's. But was not happening during few hours of playing.
- Far to much running around with nothing happening and far to slow, the dash settings does not make it much better.
- The MC is a mage, but using the gun was a far better deal in combat.
- An Armor and Weapon dealer with only different shields...

I really hate Willpower and Intelligence. I mean having a corruption system, something like Inhibition going down is often in such games. But why having Willpower and Intelligence, just to get them down at a fast rate? Why having the option to choose high Will or INT at all? And no mechanic to get it back. This makes me angry. Especially while playing a magic user.

I like the idea of having spells which can be use outside combat and influencing your surroundings. Detect Magic, Push and others, but they far to seldom useful. I found a secret passage, but nothing can be found. Just a big red button with a game mechanic I really hate. I mean just get a long stick which presses the button permanently, issue solved... I found a Cocoon spell, but cannot learn it, the time just proceed. After casting few more times those spells, I got bored, not finding anything interesting or important.

I like it that the inside of buildings are not full of giant rooms. What I often hate in RPGM games. But looking around the furniture, there is nothing to find, same as in the town (and the first boring crystal dungeon).

There seems to be much stuff in the game and if all this get more connected together, woven into the story, instead of I need to make money so I can start sooner or later with the story of the game itself, it could get interesting. But this game is already 3 1/2 years old and I do not think it will happen.

High quality work, is my primary impression. A great deal of both depth and breadth even in its unfinished state. While there are parts that jar a little due to state/traits/etc not applying to a scene this is surprisingly rare given how many scenes there are in total. The artwork is well done and consistent.

While there are problems they mostly come down to 'it isn't finished yet' rather than bad design.

This game contains a main story which focuses on Erika (you) to find the truth about yourself. Caliross further contains side quests and side story plot lines.

The game has various kinks for pornographic material. This game focuses on mind control, hypnosis and other forms of corruption pornographic material.

Slowly gets new content each month but a well made pornographic game. Highly recommend people try. This game appears to be nearly finished with the main story but the developer appears to also want to flesh out the side factions and story content after.

Now its version 0.97.2a some of the issues have already been said in the old reviews. But I will talk about my personal Issues and why even though at the moment its pretty hard for me to recommend the game I believe that when it will be finished it will be one of the best
So, I played a lot of games from f95 (at least 100 in a 4-4 and a half months) and this is the first time a game managed to get me angry. When I played a bad game I was like, yep its a bad game, or a good game, or a meh game, this time around is very different and here is why. (some spoilers ahead)

When I first started playing I wanted to go through the many paths the game has to offer, the first one and the easiest to get is the cow path, It was consistent, entertaining and even after you finished in theory and you decided to go out of the farm continue the story, you were still tied to, needing to be or milk yourself every morning and at some future quest the game will auto take decisions because of the brainwashing you sufered at the farm, this is an example of a good and rewarding path that made a real difference in the game so 9.5/10 for the cow path the reason im not giving it a 10 its because it should need some more art, but I believe that is in the works.

Then you have the slave path. Oh boy was I pumped for that one, after you became a slave because you fucked up at blackjack the path begins, the things you had to do were ok, even though at some point you just smash the next button because the text is mostly the same, you had a slave competition which was really nice and at some point you have the option to remain as a slave for him you want to go out. Compared to the cow path, here you get nothing, it just reverts you before the slave path started back in your home and I was something like "That's it? WHAT?" the slave path takes around 20-30 minutes untill you have to chose to stay or leave and after you leave you get nothing. The reason why I am so mad Is that we know that the guy who wrote the script its capable of making a path you chose really mean something and here it meant nothing and lets say that if you did the path you got a lot of scenes or things like that, at the moment of writing, you dont get even that.

And besides that you also have a ponygirl path if you fuck up again at blackjack and did some noble quest before, but you will be in that path for a few seconds until you realize that the path has almost no content (only 1 single scene) and you can get out and when you get out, this time around you remain with something, its a slave bracelet that is perma equiped on your weapon slot and you cant take it off, also you will be in the pony outfit until you go to sleep (at least thats why I did to get rid of it)

I can talk more about it (the amount of bugs is magnificent) but I used this example to emphasize that this games feels like a bin in which are thrown a lot of ideas (most of them are really good) and just left there for you the player to understand the logic of it all while the creators throws some more good ideas only to be there.

What I do believe will be the best thing to do for the game right now is to stop adding new story lines and quests, like full stop, fix most of the bugs and add some more cgs because there are a lot of places that are just black screen and walls of text (I hope that the black screen with wall of text is only a placeholder until the cg is ready) and for the love of god, make the story consistent and make me the player feel like the decisions I make with her really matter, he did it with the cow path, why not with the rest? If she is dumb a a brick, make the story so she will do dumb shit , because in this way, even if the game is open and you have stats that go up and down and body sizes that change and character traits, I only feel that very rarely some things really change, this problem is because of a huge LACK OF CONSISTENCY.

And this is my almost angry review <3

I love this game. RPGM is janky, the art is fair to so-so, and other nitpicks are definitely to be had. BUT the creator has written a lot excellent content and player actions feel meaningful, which in turn makes me actually feel invested in playing and exploring the world.

Strongly recommend checking this one out.
