Ren'Py - Completed - Camp Klondike [Day Seven] [Swimsoot]

Honestly, just a shitty game all around. The art style is barely a step above the MS Paint doodles you drew as a kid on your parents' PC. The characters look creepy, ugly, and uncanny, and the funny thing is, that’s the best part about them. All the LIs are incredibly annoying, bitchy, self-absorbed pieces of shit with zero redeeming qualities. Just straight-up unlikable, and unfuckable too, thanks to the horrendous art style.

The writing is cringy at best, trying so hard to imitate how real people talk that it ends up feeling like an AI desperately pretending to be human. The choices don’t matter. I repeat: the choices do nothing. You either pick the “right” one or get slapped with a game over screen.

Calling this ridiculous would be an understatement. It’s not a game. It’s not a good story. There are no pretty girls. There are no interesting characters. This is the most overhyped, overrated game I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Don’t even bother playing. Seriously. Horrible.

I have no idea how I only just discovered this game today. It checks so many of my boxes. What an amazing piece of work. Extremely fluid, natural dialogue and narrative. Clever writing with a touch of genuinely funny humor. Unique and very endearing art style. Superfun cast of characters with great personalities and individual flavor. Just a crackerjack experience from top to bottom. Loved every minute of it.

Kink-wise, the recurring focus on voyeurism, through both the visuals and the dialogue in terms of narrating for the purposes of relaying voyeuristic thrill, was amazingly on point and sort of a rare match-up in AVNs. I absolutely loved it. Loved the focus on female bodies too, in terms of script and dialogue. Even in an internal monologue, it harkens back to that same thrill from voyeurism, especially for the player. Masterfully done!

Also really, really appreciate the dev's attention to making all of the bodies unique and imperfect. Freckles, sunburns, floppy boobs, all sorts of natural touches that enhanced the verisimilitude of the story. Made the girls feel even more human and relatable and real. Oh and speaking of natural, I really earnestly appreciate that pretty much all of the girls had pubic hair, with many of them having an abundance of it. And that it was frequently referenced in the script. That sort of thing is far too rare in AVNs and it was fantastic that the dev included so much bush!

The game is complete, it is fantastic, and it is very uniquely special. If any of the above is in your wheelhouse, it'd be a crime to not play this masterpiece.

Erotic teasing at its finest. At first the artwork put me off and it took me a bit to get past it. Once I got used to it, it didn't matter. The plot itself isn't spectacular, but the mix of cheeky humour and erotic build up manages to tease and scintillate so much the faults in the game really don't matter.

I wasn't sure about the art style at first, but it ended up having surprisingly fantastic animations and storytelling. Genuinely surprised by this one. Definitely recommended. Thank you for this, and I look forward to following it further

This game is so hot gng. The art style is unique and weird, but aesthetic at the same time. The orgasms are trippy and so hot. The writing is great and genuinely comedic. The girls are hot and cool. The setting is amazing, I love the appeal of camp life. This is a gem for sure, one of a kind.

I'll start with the art. This game was made before AI art became so rampant, as such, I appreciate the artist hand drawing the characters. However, there are several portraits where the color "bleeds" out of the line work which could have been cleaned up in photoshop. As someone who does digital art occasionally, its very jarring seeing these portraits. The game also goes from hand drawn assets to 3D which was jarring.

Now for the writing. First I'll say that its clear the author "cares" about the female characters. They all feel distinct enough and all have unique backstories which shows the author spent time thinking about them all which is good. The male characters (including the main character) all feel like cardboard cutouts. Its kind of interesting that often people complain when the female characters (esspecially in Honey Select games) all have similar personalities and can be replaced easily. Well thats how it feels with the male characters.

The artstyle sets this apart, visually speaking. Now that the obvious is out of the way...

You're the providential saviour who is going to pull whatever crawled up a bunch of women's ass out of there. Basically the Sex Messiah, and I'm not saying it, the game (kinda) does.

I've played for about two hours, painfully slogged through the first two chapters and I:
- didn't engage with any of the characters. I just... I just don't care. Sorry.
- cringed oh so very much at most of the dialogue.
- got offered "choices" that weren't choices because only one actually mattered, the other(s) sending you straight into a game over. I. Despise that. So much. To me, it's also proof the storyline isn't catchy enough and the writer knows it. I mean, if the story really were that good, the game wouldn't need to provide fake choices to the player to keep them awake and involved...
- waited during transitions that have no business being this slow.
- had to suffer through "pornographic" scenes I categorically refuse to qualify as sexy or even hot. In fact, I found them so incredibly bad, I laughed. It's like a blind director was trying to shoot porn: it always feels like the interesting bits are OUT OF FRAME. For the love of the holly, don't show me the stupid MC's stupid face. Show. Me. The. Girl.
(Also, seriously, what's with the transparency and fading effect and the images replacing one another? Am I reading a power point or what?)
- got reminded that using shadows to tease is cool and all but actual darkness where you cannot see a thing actually does not work.
- saw very bad, very cringe visual effects meant to picture climax. Fireworks, really? Instead of waisting time on game over screens, resources could have been funneled into actual climixing animations.
- heard moaning sounds ripped from actual porn that sounded like they have been through a blender. Embrace the art direction and forget bad sound effect. Add bubbles as in a comic, floating text, and whatever!

The artstyle alone is worth two stars but the writing and the "directing", oh, Lord...

First things first: don't get turned off by the artwork style. I promise it will grow on you (pun intended).
The idea and the setting are great, but what really makes this a fantastic Game/VN is the writing, which is really top notch.
Also, you must avoid if you are just looking for a quick FAP, because this is a relatively slow burning story.
I don't know why I only discovered this gem now, but I'm here for it!

super gentle and all about consent , which is great, yet super naughty and kinky/ BDSMish . very cerebral and super well written. i felt like i was a teenager once again.
the artwork is quite unique as well. i wouldn't say it the hottest but its refreshing and totally fits the vibe of the game. sometimes it looks a bit like a mix of Bill Sienkiewicz and Mad's covers !
Now that it comes to an end the length is very good. there isn't many paths to explore, a little gameplay here and there (which is welcomed) and it's definitly more on the VN side of the spectrum but that's all right.
again the greatness of the game isn't in the gamplay or technical elements:
this game is a coherent, kind, kinky artistic creation. it's one of a kind, it clever and outside of the common cannons of what non japanese lewd games are nowadays and its super cool.
i am sure that overtime it's gonna become a classic such a many indie movies which were not box office success but became great references.

Oh man, it feels so liberating to have women with independent sexual agency, a sexual past (!) and their own goals and desires. If more porn games were like this, women would be so much more into them.

The scenes are incredibly sexy and it's not because some Alpha male sticks his dick into a faceless vagina, but rather because the build up is incredibly strong and the characters feel like people with wants and needs. No other game here is like this.

Yes, it's over the top at times. Yes, all the women are sorta depraved and act like horny teenagers 100% of the time, but then this is about discovering your own sexuality, so it needs to be condensed that way.

Really great game with women you can relate to. Please play it and support it if you can.

Played Night six part two - Has both the spanking and the bdsm tag. It's also rated rather highly, but the unusual artstyle kept me from trying it. Finally had some time to try it and have to say - the ratings are completely deserved.
It's mostly a kinetic novel - the options only give an illusion of choice and only change how a sex-scene plays out or whether you want to see certain content (or how extreme you like your content). You can't influence the plotline at all.
The art style is unusual and while it looks weird at first glance, you get used to it rather quickly and in the end I found it quite charming - it also fits the stories style and themes pretty well.
The game is about a group of teenagers spending a week together in a summer-camp in the woods while exploring their sexuality and relationships. It deals with accepting yourself and others, dealing in a mature way with fetishes, consent and growing up. The story and the characters are rather well written and pretty memorable.
It also stays rather realistic and grounded - sweet, wholesome and the drama feels like something that could actually happen with a bunch of teenagers rather than drama for drama's sake. The sex-scenes are well written and have a beautiful build up with a lot of teasing and fantasizing. You feel like you're really in the characters' head.
Bdsm-wise several of the characters have an interest that they explore during the story - nothing too extreme, but it's nice watching young, enthusiastic people exploring their fetishes in a realistic manner with all the stumbling that implies.
Has bondage, spanking, domination, clamps, gags and some role-play.
Also has some sharing/swinging/voyeurism, there are also two other boys who have relationships of their own (one of which can have a sexual encounter with the MC's girlfriend) - the creator generally warns the player when it's about to happen and you can abort it, but if you're easily upset by such story-beats, you might be offended. I personally thought that it fit the story pretty well, because it's part of the theme of living true to yourself without being bound by others expectations or demands.
Definitely worth trying. It's also pretty close to its climax - night number six is almost finished with most plotlines resolved, and it's implied that the game will have seven days.

The plot is straight forward, you play as a camp counselor spending a 1 week vacation with your fellow coworkers.

Pros:
- Good writing, good lengthy erotic scenes.
- Great music and sound effects.
- Some great art.

Cons:
- Lack of a narrative. You mostly spend 1 week stumbling around occasionally engaging in voyeurism or sex.
- Lack of characterization. The girls quickly meld together, use the same turn of phrases and are into the same kinks.
- Some downright bad art, like mushroom dicks.

What a GEM!
Graphics are a little weird, but faces (and nipples) are done really well and there is a lot of attention on small details which I loved. Also the animations are nicely done.
Story is interesting and well written, sometimes it rides a thin line of quirkiness but never oversteps.
Characters are great, interesting and kinda memorable. The two main girls are amazing, love 'em.
The scenes are extremely sexy, it's a great mix of slow burn but at the same time very naughty, really greatly done. My only complaints would be about the deepthroats not going deeper, and that there is a little too much happening on the past instead of the present. And the fact that it's almost over.. I want more Hayden and Merit!

Wow, the small "yeah"s are sooo hot. Could this be a kink of some sort? The interactions make my imagination run wild with anticipation. Excellent story telling and unique renders. I think a kinetic novel route could also be nice since freeroam and decisions doesn't seem to play a big role. I'll just hand the dev full control and enjoy the ride.

Camp Klondke is easily the best-written erotica available, with fantastic employment as a visual novel. The chance to see the hidden side of an all-girls summer camp after the campers leave and the counselors are left to their own secret fantasies—An easy slam-dunk genre story, you might think. But the writing is far superior to any other visual novel I have read, and the fantasies are taken to their absolute best climax.

The minigames are kept to a minimum and are easy point-and-click to investigate each area, giving the reader the feeling of depth instead of just trying to click to the next sex scene. The characters, particularly the women, are insanely attractive, original, and diverse. I cannot stress this point enough: the sex scenes are the best-written I have seen in a visual novel.

First things first, this is a great VN, up there with the best among the indie content on this site, and the definitive biggest reason for that, IMO, is the writing.

Most stories here have an obviously porn-y bend, often incorporating high fantasy/sci-fi as well. Camp Klondike is a rarer one which, while incredibly smutty, accomplishes everything in a realistic setting and realistic characters, without any fancy frills. It's a bunch of horny camp counselors figuring out life and sex. There's no mind control, no magic cock, no fame and glory, no incest or pseudo-incest (except one teaser), just young adults flirting and exploring kinks. Characters are developed well - in proportion to their role in the story - and the relationship dynamics are done incredibly well. That means, of course, the dialogue and build up are all engaging and believable.

One thing to note - in contrast to some other notable games here, there isn't any derogatory treatment of women, or any other class of person. Many other stories either rely on absurd stereotypes, or push some weird personal narrative of the dev. Camp Klondike is what I would consider very women-centric; all the girls have their own motives, and want to be sexually liberated and empowered, but simultaneously also have a genuine struggle with being hurt or objectified as a result of that. If you're not into that, this probably isn't the one for you.

One weird thing about that is that the camp has a huge purity culture, and there's even a certain religious building in the story... but every mention of why sex is bad in the story is basically "because morals." I mean literally - not a specific moral being called out, just "morality." I'm not sure if that's because the dev has mostly seen that mindset, or if they're avoiding calling out any specific ideology. Considering this is, like, the central theme of the story, I would've expected a discussion that really goes deeper into why this is a social norm, and at least one character that can thoughtfully articulate why it's stupid. Maybe this is being reserved for later but it's getting close to the end already.

OK, besides the writing itself, the game is actually more of a kinetic novel, there aren't many alternative choices at all, you just kind of get the option to not see some things. (Many bad choices result in an immediate redo, which feels a bit pointless, unless the dev plans to build those out later.) There are a few "interactive" scenes, which to be honest the interactivity was unnecessary, and given that they felt a bit clunky, probably burned an unreasonable amount of the dev's time. On the plus side, however, there are some basic animations and SFX which are used to great effect.

The art is obviously, immediately controversial. If nothing else, it definitely has its own style, and it seems totally hand drawn (well, digitally). I think it's a bit of an acquired taste, however, it's a bit... amateurish? Occasionally it's distracting to see incorrectly drawn hands or feet, that sort of thing. Mostly, it serves its purpose: it executes on a specific look and portrays sexiness. I can see that not being enough for a lot of people, which is unfortunate.

Overall a great, well-written VN, but one for a particular audience. Try it for half an hour. You'll probably love it or hate it.

Extremely unique game, I can't quite think of something like it because of the art style, but also how the characters interact with each other. It's well-written.

I will admit the author definitely seems to have a thing for pubic hair but I don't mind it, they give players a choice later on about the subject, but I definitely see two end-game characters, and while I think the author is pushing players towards one character based on childhood friendship (even their Patreon has their highest level be based on Merit), I think Hayden is my end game choice if I had to right now. She has embraced being kinky and vulnerable with the MC.

Maybe there is no end game, and when camp is over people will move on, which is also a realistic ending, but I hope it doesn't happen.

Also, the humor in this game has been mentioned by other reviewers but it still deserves a shout-out, the characters say some of the funniest stuff imaginable in situations.
