Devs that have games with a lot of animations, music and huge updates like Philly with City of Broken Dreamers have insane power in their rigs and enough people willing to help out to make a render farm. Some of the bigger devs work in teams which make it possible.

In addition to that, good animations need also a lot of knowledge and experience. "We" don't talkt about about the 2 to 4 image "penis go in vagina and penis go out of vagina" animation, but the ones that need standard 24 image per second.
So to have a half a minute animations needs 720 images. That is more than some of the game here have for a whole update. In addition to making the animations, making the movement good, you will still have the same troubles you had with stills, eg. clipping, lighting, ..., only now it won't affect one image it would affect the whole scene with hundreds or thousand of images.

So some of us thinks the big additional work that this needs could be spend better somewhere else on the game and the same is for music. Nevertheless, if you want to do that and think it is what your game "needs" then do it. Only advice from my side would be, if later you come to the conclusion that is isn't worth the work than remove all of them from the game again.

The dev for Thirsty for my guest does a render count for every update and last update came to just over 24k renders.

Imagine smaller devs trying to keep up with 24 thousand renders just to make good animated scenes.

Aint happening.

The biggest problem is those that demand animations don't know the amount of work, time and cost that goes into it. The bigger devs can pull it off but the smaller ones have no chance. Best they can do is use stock daz animations which aint great, switch to Honey Select and use theirs which are more varied but still not great or use basic low frame count animations that just look stuttery.

For the return smaller devs get, it's not worth the cost or the time.

I think that's one of the things that causes some devs to abandon their games. When they try and keep up with demands of their player base rather than just enjoying the process it can get to be too much.

All true. I do have a good machine. Do I have talent? Hell nah. Which is why I'm mostly using prebuilt animation with some keyframe adjusting. It looks decent enough


But other than the premade animation which I don't have a lot of I'm not really planning to go bigger.

About sound: I do think that a good game music CAN add to the overall experience. However, at this stage of the development, it's impossible to add them, because it requires planning. And I think the classical funky songs of free value are just adding to the 90s Z category porn movie vibe (that's a negative). Since I have no intention (and had no intention) of using free assets that are generic by design.

It's not worth the effort if more than half of the players play it turned off. And I don't think it would add to the experience that at a random part of the game the "I'm happy" or "La-Hee" song starts blasting.

So there is a new playable version out? People talk like they could play.
