Was that ironic? Rance is a man baby that throws a fit when he doesn't get what he wants. I can't think of any western games that fit a charming or clever male protagonist. Even Asian games don't tend to have them either (unless you think dense MCs or beta doormats are charming). Maybe Darx from Bunny Black but he's just a villain that rapes bitches until they break like Rance (Bunny Black 3 ENG never). The guy from Kamidori is charming but like in a little brother/shounen type of way. There's really nothing.

I didn't get far in Grisaia so I can't comment on that. From what I read he's some kind of emotionally distant assassin guy. Yamato is a normal guy in a world where all the women are super powered. He's not very charming or clever from what I remember but I only played one route in that one (the main girl that's stronger than everyone else). I didn't play anymore because I don't like it when the protagonist is weaker than the heroine(s).
If you play Little Busters! you'll find a charming protagonist (Riki) and who is, in my humble opinion, one of the best male characters in VN (Kyousuke)

yuuji is emotionally distant, but he can be charming when he wants and certainly is clever.
Agree about charming trait, though disagree about cleverness, the main trait of yamato is his intelligence, why everyone rely on him and how he gets the girls.
Unfortunately, adult games are awash with pervy misogynist losers. So far, I've found only two games where the protagonist isn't utterly repulsive: Bondage Island and Wife Trainer.
Bondage Island is a completed game about a protagonist visits a bondage island retreat of sorts where he can hook up with fellow kinksters. Consent is central to this game (just like in rl roleplay) so don't expect to tie anyone up without charming and getting them to trust you first. All in all, a pretty great game. Also, if you enjoy the game, be sure to check out the two other games the developer is working on.
Wife Trainer is still WIP but already has quite a lot of content. In this game, you play as the eponymous wife trainer, who--as you might have guessed--"trains" wives. (Think unorthodox couples therapy that would definitely cost you your license) Leaving aside the obviously misogynist setup, the training amounts to you helping the woman in a relationship through varous hang-ups like not enjoying sex, confidence issues related to body-image, wanting to explore exhibitionism, etc. There different approachs for each client, and you choose between three general archetypes (dom, playboy, and hypnotist) at the start. Playing as the playboy would allow you to charm and seduce various women in the game.
There's also a new game called the "Patient" that might be worth keeping an eye on. The content is scant atm but the protagonist seems fairly mature and believable so far.

Sadly that's a fact...on top of that most male MC's are too young for comfort.
To be considered charming or clever...well can't think of one I would really endorse...but I haven't tried the one mentioned above yet...
If you wish, try my game in which I aim to be at least close to realism. I do have a mature approach on social dynamics...in which actions do have consequences and the 33 year old MC isn't a total dick although he has problems keeping the same in his pants...(it's an adult game after all...but if you go after more than one women is totally up to you)
