If you need to use the alternative "DATA.rpy" for joiplay then it should replace the one from this post:
Which should be in located: "*install location*\Bright_Past-0.98.8-pc\game\rpyc\DATA.rpy"

You need to follow the instructions:
The original rpyc.rpa is still located within the game folder with a ".rpa(*)" file extension. You need to delete that file or move it completely out of the games folders.
I see what has happened, you downloaded the roll-back mod with just adds a different script.rpy+script.rpyc. (It's also still on 0.98.8 so you are playing an old version with that essentially)
Delete those 2 as this mod already contains the roll-back functionality as well as this mod.

Looking at the logs, you are running version 0.98.8 according to the last few lines of those logs:
My guess is that the 0.98.9 mod doesn't work well with the 0.98.8 version of the game. (Can't really easily test right now since I have v0.98.9 game)
One of my logs for comparison:
It's probably that or something else completely unknown to me tbh.
For reference v0.98.9 is xmas themed everywhere and v0.98.8 is not.
I'd either say make sure the versions match and try again, either by downloading the 0.98.9 game or the 0.98.8 mod.

Strange, I only downloaded the game after 0.98.9 came out as it was the first version I played. Ah well. I'll tinker and get back to you if I figure it out.

If you have used my mod before, now the installation method has changed and become more convenient. You no longer need to delete or move the file "rpyc.rpa" from the folder "game". All you need is to place the file "DATA.rpyc" from the downloaded archive in the folder "game" and start the game.
