Gameplay Guide
Beat 1.03 on hard mode with saved sensitivities all the way through, here are some thoughts and advice for anyone who may want them.
These tips are assuming you're struggling to beat the actual game part, not trying to see everything it has to offer.
Never end a mission early
Skill points are awarded by how far you make it. This includes the distance between the last station and where you die. The only reason to get off early is if you're doing a 'virgin' run. There is no intrinsic reason to do so, so I don't recommend it. You need skill points, as much as you can get.
If you really, really,
really don't want to lose for any reason ever, I recommend playing a run as far as you can until you lose one HP, then get off the train at the next stop. You'll probably never lose, but you will take much longer to clear the game.
Play on Hard
Counterintuitive, but I think this game is much easier on Hard than Easy. Again, you need skill points. The x1.5 modifier for playing and failing on hard is much better than clearing the individual levels on easy without trouble. Since the 1.04 patch removed the x0.7 modifier on easy, the devs clearly know how important skill points are.
Defense is Broken
Blocks every special effect and stacks infinitely. Always a good idea to have more.
Know your Skills
Not all skills are created equal. Here is my personal assessment. With the exception of the first, this is a fairly flexible list; I wouldn't recommend taking the fifth rank in Skillful Arrest over the first rank in EXP Gain Up, for example. Use your head.
Rare skills, you should basically always get if you can. They're really good.
Know your Upgrades
Where you're spending the vast majority of your skill points. Like Skills, some are better than others. Not going to touch on the red skills because you shouldn't handicap yourself if you want to win and are struggling to do so (duh).
Know your Events
No, I don't have all the events committed to memory. What I can say is:
- EXP events are affected by EXP Gain Up, which is why it's rated so highly. +20 levels towards the end of the run, no exaggeration.
- The Hostage Groper is a boon on line 1 and 3, and a big problem on 2 and 4. Clicking is much easier than holding.
- 'Find the nipple' is always worth playing if you can afford the arousal hit (it's not that bad). The extra groper event for turning the blackmail version down can really hurt at the wrong time.
- For this reason, on Line 4, take out livestreams when you can--the 150 infamy event is basically the same thing.
- Line 3 and 4 begins the restraint events, which are devastating. You don't need to play super conservative but try to go into each station with an Electric Shock ready and as many stacks of defense as you can manage, if you can. This alone makes Fortune and Super Strength worthwhile, but they won't always help.
- If you lose your underwear, you have a chance of getting it back as an event. Since this can replace a different, worse event, it could be worth planning around in some situations.
Know your Bosses
I have a couple of tips for bosses, but generally speaking they're pretty easy to learn.
Extra Notes
- The outfits are mostly interchangeable. I used the Gal Fit cause I liked it. You can't be subjected to underwear attacks with the School Uniform, but that's not necessarily a good thing--underwear attacks can be blocked by Defense, and underwear thieves will use regular groping if they can't do their work. Not to mention underwear events aren't great, but they're not the worst either.
- Even if you reduce your hypnosis to zero, equipping the Modified Gym Clothes will bring it right back to 100. For that reason, never, ever use it--lost actions are the worst thing that can happen. It also only has one layer to strip, which is just awful for both gameplay and aesthetic reasons.
- Wizards are very dangerous because of how many actions they absorb; the only way to increase awareness is to block spells from casting (which consumes an action) and Electric Shock. If you're facing two or three at once, there's no better time to use Electric Shock. Their spells can't be blocked by Defense.
- On the topic of Wizards, they can cast two different groping spells, place a brand, charge a brand by two stages, activate a brand, and consume a brand. Activation is the worst in my experience; increased sensitivity. Consuming is second since it's an instant orgasm, but it also destroys the brand. A brand can only be consumed if it's fully charged, so you have a lot of time to stop it. You can also destroy the brand with the holy water item, which Wizards drop.
- Sensitivity profiles increase your EXP gain. The first time around I beat the game by not using them, the second time I did so while using them. It's up to personal preference if the extra levels are worth it, but if you don't know what you're doing it will hurt you while you try to learn.
- It's utterly impossible to plan for, but if a body part's sensitivity level goes up during an arrow event, you can still input arrows on the keyboard while the game is paused with the update message. This includes the 3rd boss fight, which becomes trivial if you get it in the second phase.
