My guess? It's a lot of people who donated like $5/month way back when and forgot about their patreon subscription. Get enough people paying a nominal amount of money that doesn't matter for most peoples' budgets and you can rake in shit tons of cash for doing nothing.

They could probably stop updating altogether and still make money.

By contrast, Wild Life has a professional team of developers working on it.
