VN - Ren'Py - Companion of Darkness [Ch. 8] [Berkili4]

Holy, I played this on a recommendation an I can certainly say that the recommendation was worth it.

The story is a lot of fun to play through. I didn't expect that

The only minus I have are some of the renders, but with the action scenes that are in here its just too much fun to not at least try this.

Half way through chapter 3, and I can say this game is simply amazing. Brilliant story that keeps you at the edge of your seat thanks to its unpredictable turns, nice characters that you end up really liking. The interactions and development for each character and between the characters themselves are well written, and every scene ends up feeling like you're watching an anime or reading a manga, a really good one at that. As a story-first person, I can say this is one of my favourite games. It was recommended to me and I'm really glad I gave it a shot.

Loved this game very much. You can tell that there was a lot of work put into it.

Storytelling: 8/10
I really liked the plot of game and I was very invested in its story. The only thing that I can think of about why this was not 10/10 is because the game felt like it was not giving the sidecharacters much time with the main character at all (Mainly Jacky I guess), but I feel like some scenes connecting Matt's backstory would have been cool to see.

CG Scenes: 10/10
Loved the scenes, not much left to critique besides me asking for you to make more scenes in the game.

Spelling/Wording: 7/10
The wording of the game felt very natural until the end (chapter 3 and 4) where I saw multiple mistakes. Looks like they had rushed to verify that everything was correct; nevertheless, the game itself was amazing, and I can't wait for the next update.

Interesting game with a cool premise! Clearly, a lot of heart was put into this game.

Straight away I'll say this: in my opinion, atm the game deserves 3.5 stars for me. I'm giving it 4, but wish I could give it 5. This is because there is a lot of heart in this game. In the future, after more updates come along, I hope I can come in here and change my 4-stars into 5 without having to justify it on my feelings, but rather on the game's own merits.

One thing a lot of people will notice easily is that there are issues with spelling, and grammar. I'm not taking that into consideration in my review at all, mainly because it can be improved over time and reviewed later retroactively without impacting anything in regards to the story.

I'm also not taking into consideration the quality of the sex animations. They are okay, nothing spectacular. However, the dev so far has been updating the game quite fast, and each update feels significant. Animations and scenes in general simply take quite a bit of time to make with top-tier quality, and with the dev pumping out updates as fast as they are, they are adequate and a non-issue.

Now onto the nitty gritty - there were things I like, things I dislike and one thing in particular that I REALLY disliked. Some of these are mostly due to preference and isn't really a mistake to be corrected, just an impression of mine.

So let's go.




I'm cautiously optimistic about the future of the story. Berkili writes characters very well, and I happen to like all of them. So I'm looking forward to the next updates!

What I love the most is the story and art

It's very interesting AF.

Imagine you have a STAND, but you have a beautiful girls instead that you can actually f*ck. What's even more interesting is you can actually get more powerful BY defeating other stand users and F*cking their own STANDO! and these standos can be any kind of girls, demon, ghost, blue-colored skins green black whatever, angel, vampires, broh you can put anything!

The only thing that needs to improve here is the writing(spellings,grammar,contruction) BUT it is not so bad that you can't understand any of it. I think the author is just not english native but that's like everyone else. If you're vn reader you can already predict what the writing wants to say. Honestly i didnt get bothered by it that much. I'll rate it 4/5.

Regarding the previous review of 1 star below me. Don't get bothered by it. The MC is not BETA. The author is portraying a somewhat realistic character, and you can tell by reading his thoughts on the dialogue. Not everyone can just punch/kill whoever there is, you need depth bro. And trust me, the next thing he did after that is complete opposite of BETA/CUCK. I think the guy just got fed up of beta cucks in pornhwa and anime but trust me this is not it.

I'll give it 4.5/5 just for the interesting plot and girls alone.

If i ask for improvement, I think it'll be the typical additional beautifications of AVN like good sounds, better rendering and basically just make everything cooler. but for me those are not that necessary, and will just make the updates of the game much longer than necessary. I suggest author to continue fast releases. plot and beautiful girls/dark ones are top priorities for release. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

MC discover power > doesnt use it and let some thug in school beaten him to a pulp.
We see alot of this type of plot, BETA male, soy cuck, wimpy, you name it....
This guy is 18yo and can't even think for himself, if you back down you will get beat and on and on and on forever....
If this is a NTR hentai, my man would get a spot in the cuck seat. Get cuked and then suicided himself.

Art and Renders 2.5/5: it's fine, not really good but not bad.
Character design is cute and nice, animation is mediocre, nothing really highlight the art.

Such a shame, the stupid writing killed my boner.

Good soundtrack that fits well, if not a bit short in their loops. Cute renders, and I like the overall cast. The highlight of this game is the plot - I'm genuinely interested in the primordials and in the backstory/lore of them, and it keeps me excited to read, like an actual fantasy book of sorts.

There is one big issue with this game that stops it from being 5 stars: The grammar in this is terrible. It's littered with grammatical errors or abbreviations that you'd get in texting (u instead of you, for example), as well as weird sentence ordering/construction. This desperately needs proofreading and cleaning. Despite this, the game is thoroughly enjoyable, and it is clear the writer's fairly creative in his writing.

I like how the game is going, although honestly I would have preferred it to be Amy, but well I'm sure they have other plans for her and at the beginning of chapter 3, I kind of already had a feeling why Nael's partner did that for him. MC and with what was revealed at the end of said chapter already mentioned above, he confirmed it to me, I hope he continues and good luck with the game, greetings

The ONLY complaint i have is that this needs to be proofread.

The amount of effort in this vn is way above average compared to others, and while the sex is... lacking, imo, the actual content and story makes up for it. This is one i'll be keeping a close eye on, and i cant wait to see it grow!

Here's a new game I've just discovered that's a great surprise!

I love the story, the theme is excellent, it reminds me of the anime sekirei for certain things in a darker version.
The characters I find excellent, some say that the male characters are bad, but I do not find for once.
Each chapter is really long (+1100 renders mini) which is excellent I have not paid attention to the length of maj, but in any case for me it's a big plus!

In short, I highly recommend this game and I can't wait to read the rest!

Companion of darkness is just starting but it is already showing promise. There is enough content (both h-content and story) for it to be worth a shot for anyone curious.

I can see an amelioration in renders has the game goes by. I like how simple the story set up is so far while still having that interesting lore that is just deep enough to not be tedious to follow. The main characters are likable and I'm genuily curious where the story will go.

The game is fine. has some TYPO errors. but nothing remarkable.
Chapter 1 has a good introduction to the world, it is somewhat static and the faces of the characters are somewhat still, however the story is the basis. The character design is good, the premise is quite anime-like, however adding a touch more dark.
there are many questions to solve and that entertains you throughout the game.
Chapter 2 applies many improvements, and correct some failures, especially in the static of the characters, the story is more applied and they give you more choices. It also applies more sex scenes. Perhaps it deteriorates in some things corresponding to the mystery plot, which is a drawback :/ but still is not a big fail.

Chapter 3: by far the author has applied all the improvements of the previous chapters and this chapter is undoubtedly amazing.
It has many transition scenes that make everything more fun, great character introductions, and some excellent plot twists. the easy expressions and the combat effects are very well worked. The music is something that has improved a lot. and is excellent for every scene. It shows the passion that the author had. and love it.

Chapter 4: Scenarios and illumination improves a lot compared to previously chapters, and basically everything. combats and chooices and plot twist in this chapter really improves a lot, the story telling and facial expressions improves a lot, also camera get better angles compared to previously chapters, really enjoy
so finally i can fully recommend this game,


however, he has a severe problem. punctuation marks suck. commas suck. You have to read some dialogues several times because you don't know which character they are referring to or who they are talking to.
this issue was solved and corrected and it´s enjoyable <3


after 2 updates i can finally give 5 stars
HOWEVER I can't wait for the next chapter. <3

I recommend this game if you like good story full of action and good story.

The story and world is interesting and engaging, which for me is the most important aspect. Needs an editing pass lots of sloppy errors, the story and overall voice was good enough to keep me going despite that.

Biggest personal bummer is the LIs are all on the waifish side of things, but again story kept me clickin'.
