And one more request even though I know it doesn't belong here ... I use xxx_saves.rpy and lately it has been giving errors in some games ... the last one was Cozy Cafe but until after the game upgrade it was fine (I had to load the last 6 positions because 7-11 didn't show up for me) and also in this game S1 (everything was fine until the upgrade, fortunately the last save was 13-2). Can any of the very smart people here look at xxx_saves.rpy and possibly fix it so that it works with these games too??

I haven't installed the mod yet, so I don't know if it will work with the new mod, but it definitely works without the mod.

Everything you did for the S1 game is correct, you just need to then start a new game in S2, not load an old file. The import happens automatically as long as you saw the S1 screen where it tells you the export was saved.
