OK, why does the chat lines keep acting wonky, showing stuff like barcodes or suddenly inflating like you filled them with air?
I don't have issues on the linux version. Have you tried re-downloading the game?

Yep, twice. It just ends up crashing after you go through enough text messages. Had it crash on me three times. I am using the PC version of Win 11. Almost no other renpy game gives me these crashes, only ones that are resource hogs.

I will try to capture one, the next time I try. It just suddenly has the text turn into what looks like barcodes, then freezes, then crashes. It does not even produce a traceback error log.

I tried it again today. I even shut down all other things like Steam and my browser. It let me get further this time but eventually it froze, then shut itself down. Seems to be a memory issue. Keep in mind, I am not rocking a gaming PC, just a laptop with the following specs...

You sure you didn't close any other background processes off? These are my specs, so much older than yours, but I run the laptop off of Ubuntu. It loads this game just fine even if it's already using 3.4GB for OS and a few tabs open in Firefox. My available memory lines right up with your information(Portion taken as vram for the GPU). I've had issues only when I loaded up more demanding games that load 3D models

Nope, I just closed open programs like my Safari browser and Steam, from the taskbar. I did not go into task manager and close any processes. I got further, this last time. Maybe 10 sessions with each lass, before it did the whole text turns into barcode, then crashes. I am now saving after I do 1 session with each lass, so as to not lose too much, for the next time I boot up the game.

Are all the texts distorted, or just some of them?
Can you see the images?
The game modifies Renpy's basic display, so it's possible that a display bug is forcing Renpy to shut down, but that seems strange to me, especially if there's no error message.

It is just one or two text bubbles, the rest are normal. It also stops bringing up new text bubbles but you can still hear the ping. This last time, it crashed too fast for me to do a screencap.
