[Review for version 0.14.1]
The major issue with this game is RNG and the fact that I've never been more unlucky...
This game took me way longer than it should've to finish; first off, there's a chance that a fight can break (half your UI disappears, and i can't find a way to fix it without resetting the game), only happened twice, but it was really annoying for me when it happened, because it broke the Mara fight, and because i tried to load an autosave after (i hadn't manually saved in a while), it completely broke that quest line, which of course, is required to get to like half the content(also, sandy's turtle quest also broke during my first attempt at this game, not sure why though).
If that wasn't bad enough, somehow my luck was waaay worse playing through the second time. While farming the echoes to get the rare girls required to unlock the scenes, I had to farm the same fights up to 25 times (i think it automatically makes the rare spawn at this point). This is heavily flawed, because it makes me waste my fucking time farming opponents who are giving me almost no experience gains, because I've gotten so over-leveled just by trying to unlock the content.
The rare spawns were a really stupid way to keep the content locked: not only does it waste my fucking time, but because those rare spawns can also spawn without you farming at all. What would make waaaay more sense, is if, after defeating a specific number of echoes of a certain variety, then the rare would spawn (also, rares should not despawn). This not only encourages players to take the time to get the rares, since they know what they have to do to make them appear, but also prevents the player from ending up over/under-leveled based on how lucky they were with getting the rares.
Now that mini-rant is done, lets talk about the rest of the game (pro's are marked "+", cons are marked "-"):
+ Great art and good animations
+ Decently enjoyable combat
+ Leveling system is driven based on your actions (taking damage increases defense dependent on damage type, and same for dealing damage)
+ Fun characters, and a decently interesting story (I'm basically in love with Faye's character)
+ Good soundtrack
- H-scenes are pretty barebones, like there is good art, but almost nothing is written about the scenes.
- Grindy as hell; to a degree that makes the game less fun.
- For some reason i have to open my bag, click on an item, click use, then click on the thing i want to use it on... this makes sense in games that have puzzle elements, but literally everytime you have to use an item on something, you're told in advance (also, in a couple instances, like giving the scraps to Vanilla during Camo's quest, she just takes them out of your inventory when you talk to her, so there is literally no good reason for making me click so many damn times, sorry for another mini-rant).
Ultimately, there's a decent amount of content here, but if it was streamlined into a more enjoyable experience, it would easily shave an hour or two of the current time required to complete the current amount of content.
