Try to hit him when he's jumping around. If you position yourself correctly you can hit him before he jumps over you. That's the easiest way.
Not even 2 minutes in and I already fucking hate the control scheme. There's a special place in hell for developers that come up with bullshit like that.
The fucking guy who figured right shift, space, WASD and an unexplained E but only on inventory screen was a genius idea:

Half an hour later and it's clear as day that this game LOVES to waste your time. 3s to save, enemies respawning instantly because you DARED move the camera slightly to the left, incessant calls that require three fucking buttons to even pick up only for the asshole on the line to remind me that saves aren't automatic...
If you for some reason like retro games like megaman but instead of having a gun or a long whip you're limited to a tiny-ass sword and have way too much time on your hand, then go for it. The animations are pretty damn good. For everyone else, steer clear from this monstrosity of a game.

Happen to have an SNES style USB controller. God send on this game. Like the art, but you really have to get your head around the controls e.g. to answer calls. It is hard, but fun so far.

The unbalanced nature of this game is staggering. From a huge lizard to an unbeatable dog that's smaller than you are is one of the worst difficulty spikes I have ever seen. As are all enemies in general.
How do you get the Axe in the first zone? Maybe that's my problem.

quick Guide to beat dog:
The dog starts by charging at you. Jump over him until he stops and you can get 2-3 hits on him.
Next he'll charge again but with a jumping pattern. His jumps have a gap in the middle of the stage(explanation at the end.). After the jumps he'll stop, again you can hit him 2-3 times
Lastly the dig sequence. Stay away from where he digs he'll run the the nearest wall then pivot the the far wall. Stand near the wall usually he stops right at the corner which allows you to get another hit or two.
As for the gap in the jumps when he digs up the floor hazards there is a spot in between the middle and the trap that the dog has a blind spot for the jumping sequence. If you stand just right he misses the attack, be aware you have to alternate depending from where his coming from.

The dev is known for underaged and gay stuff. What were you expecting?^^ I don't even understand why there is a female playable character in the game if the full game title refers to the guy.
