VN - Ren'Py - Cosy Cafe [v0.12] [Cosy Creator]

pretty wholesome story with cute girls and typical honeyselect animations (which is not bad per se but gets kinda boring if you have seen them already in a lot of other games) but the biggest problem for me with this game is that the player can't really choose anything and i know it has a kinetic novel tag but it does not help the game to make it kinetic when in the end of the day every girl has the same fetish, they are all sub, like spankings and talk about the mc as their ‘master’ so you get a bunch of girls that have a different persona but kind of like more or less the same.

furthermore is the main character a bit weird, sometimes he seems well-mannered and relatively grown-up for his age, sometimes rather childish and cringe. to really enjoy this game you should have a bdsm fetish bc it is focused on it and you must be fine with forced LI's (this also includes the less attractive ones) everyone has a different taste but by making a harem game without any choices you have to deal with whatever girl the dev throws at you.

all in all not bad and recommendable for people that don't have a problem with such things, just not my cup of tea .

I have not completed the VN yet but I am in the process. While it indicates it is primarily focused on maledom, thus far, it seems to ramp up more and more BDSM (mostly spanking every few minutes) and domination, lots of BJ scenes, catering to those fetishes more so than anything else. I would call this more of a niche VN for BDSM and male dom. fetishists more than anything else. With all the spanking going on it's a wonder any of the girls can sit down. The story begins to show it's true colors when it becomes obvious that the MC is about as bad as the psychologically traumatizing events the LI's already face in their normal lives. Basically, the MC sets himself up as seeming like he cares, then shows that he enjoys humiliating and hurting women, then gives the LI's a non-choice to stay with his manipulative methods of showing he seems to care vs. returning to the already bad circumstances they were already in. It goes a bit over the top for those of us that have absolutely no interest in such things. Would have been nice to have more options for fetish vs. non-fetish (and less ambivalent-territorial manipulative behavior) interactions to hold attention for a larger and more varied audience. Not everyone wants to leave red handprints all over women and be called master while just getting a BJ while making women think they have a choice between a manipulative relationship or a manipulative relationship. It's gotten to the point that I gloss over the spanking and blowjob scenes just to see if anything more interesting is happening later on but now that I have gone further I just find I have little interest in continuing to the end. Other than that, it is a solid story, just not for everyone.

One of the best games on this site. The characters are all well written, and the character growth is unheard of in this format. Each of the characters has their own vibrant personalities and unique charms. The MC is written in a way that makes you root for him and all his girls.

Great novel. You definitely have to go into this game understanding that you're going to be largely reading a visual novel. The game doesn't even attempt to get flashy with features, audio, crazy animations or anything of the like; because that's not what it's about, Cosy Cafe 100% commits to just being a visual novel.

And so with that understood, visual novels have to sell two things very well: visuals, duh', and the uh... novel part. And it does these two really well.

The visuals are honestly pretty simplistic renders with fairly simple meshes, animations and so on, but, the artist takes what is largely just simple tools to craft very charming, unique characters that do so well to draw the eye you frankly couldn't give less of a shit that the background characters are silhouettes and that most of the environments and lighting are butt ugly. If these were fixed and improved, I honestly doubt the VN would improve at all; it'd be a waste of good talent.

Second, and the main meat; the writing is great. Good writing is sort of mandatory for a successful VN, and this knocks it out of the park. The pacing is slow at the start but ramps up quite quickly (a tap quick IMO, but honestly still better pacing than 99% of the stuff out there), the characters each have their own personalities and stories and paces of being drawn into the MC, the MC is cheeky and confident without being too arrogant or haughty, and the story is really focused. The cafe, the girls, the families. That's what is important, and the rest is breezed over without a care (school work, etc.) or is a welcome change of pace (Rachel's garbage, Miss Takamura meetings, etc.)

What really got me was when Akatsuki went missing for a couple days, I straight couldn't put the VN down until we got her back. It was so dead obvious what the writer was trying to do with pulling her out, but it worked so damn well, and she re-integrated quite nicely. Thats when I knew the writing was quality.

Personally, my favorites are Akatsuki and Sarah. I love the cool distant and the feisty tsundere types.

Wow, I'm really enjoying Cosy Cafe! The story has me hooked, especially because the characters are so interesting. All the girls are definitely standouts; they are gorgeous.

The visuals are also impressive. The character models are beautiful, and the environments are well-designed. The animation is smooth and adds to the overall experience.

Overall, this is a fantastic game! It easily gets a 100 out of 10 from me haha. The characters are engaging, the story is interesting, and the visuals are top-notch. Definitely worth checking out!

Honestly, not a bad read. Like how linear the story is. Which let me just enjoy reading instead of making a million choices. Also quite like the MC and how responsible and take charge he is. Love the respect and value he show to his partner, and how open and communicative he is with them

Early renders i did notice that it was still kinda stiff but it got soo much better. So kudos to the developer cozy creator for coming so far and for their dedication to this project

This is a very linear VN story. If that is what you are looking for, it's great. I love this game because grind can be difficult on mobile so this is easily playable on PC or android. The art is unique and well done and the girls aren't just oversized tits on a 4foot body. The story makes you smile and each girl has a unique personality that makes you want to be there for them. This style of Maledom is not for everyone, but many people will enjoy the way Cosy handled it. It is a caring Maledom and not an ignorant one.

I found this one around the FF party. Like many here, I have a large backlog of games but I decided to give this a go. The cute girls in the images and the good tags seemed like it might be worth trying. I can't remember, but there were probably some glowing comments about it, too.

Well, I played it. Renders at the beginning were okay, a little barebones. The music was not overdone, but as you went further it was obvious there were common themes for the different areas. The lack of choices didn't bother me. In fact, it made it so that I was not worried about missing anything. The girls were very nice to look at.

But the story... The story is why I stayed up late into the night, then fell asleep, and in the morning decided I needed to play it all again. The plot and the intricacies of the characters- how they get along (or don't) with the MC, how they slowly evolve, how they have small expressions on their faces you can gauge their feelings from... It was all suprisingly transcendant.

I did not go in expecting a masterpiece, but on coming out the other side I think it just might be. Are the renders perfect? No. But the presentation more than makes up for it! And in 0.8 there was an update to the music, giving more girls their own themes and tightening up what was already there. So much love and care has gone in to this it is amazing.

I'll mention it again because my first few times it was only something I noticed subconsciously, but the facial expressions, body posture, and tilting of the heads all add so much to these characters. Some say they aren't animated enough. I think they are animated realistically, minus lip flaps. By focusing on small changes in mouth and eyes the characters feel so real.

The lighting in later days is very well done, too- from dark shadows and point lights falling across the characters to early morning sunshine through the blinds, it looks so much better than just the global/fluorescent illumination.

Over the months, this game has become a standout to me. Thanks to anyone who read this far. I would say that if you like the render style and you are looking for a wholesome/gentle maledom harem game with a huge focus on story and likeable characters, you cannot go wrong with Cosy Cafe.

I've been playing this game since about 0.2 and am only now just getting around to writing something. You can probably tell by my post count how much I write on F95.
This is my favourite AVN. It is not perfect in every way, but its strengths make it excellent.
The characters are interesting and have plenty of unique personality traits. There are a variety of different types, and no cookie cutter tropes here. Each has their own reasons for how they are, and their development over time is nuanced well.
The MC is a regular guy. He is not a complete idiot or a sociopath. He has his flaws too as a person, but he is aware of them. He has strong feelings about what he wants to be and how he might get there, but he is never unkind to anyone who has not thoroughly earned it. He is extremely defensive about anyone he cares about. The people around him can and do influence his attitudes at times, this is not a "guy is the master of all" game.
The story is planned out well in advance and it is clear that this is not a story that the dev is making up on a day to day basis that might suddenly run out of steam or fail due to lack of ideas. I think he has the entire arc laid out and now it's just a case of filling out the details.
The quality of writing is extremely high (disclaimer: I'm a proofreader, but I don't really have much to do), dialogue is written in an engaging way - but you must accept that it is in British English. Having said that, there is very little use of indecipherable UK slang so it's not too bad...just a few spellings that might seem odd, and an occasional new word. There are very few AVNs I enjoy enough to replay, but this one has a large number of people deliberately doing multiple playthoughs - quite a feat for a game with few choices.
And yes there are few choices. This is not a sandbox, nor is it a game with multitudes of different paths and choices. It is very much a kinetic novel, and that is comfortable to me. I don't always enjoy worrying that the choice I made today will bite me in the ass three updates from now and I'll have to do 80 playthoughs to get all the endings.
Updates are regular and frequent, and the dev is highly active in discussion between updates - but he has his own plans for the story and is good at sticking to them, and keeping them nicely to himself. Good surprises are a good thing. There is a lot of discussion about where the game might go and it leads to a healthy community around the game - and usually eagerly awaiting releases that people are happy about. Updates are not small either, you will never find yourself downloading one, being done with it five minutes later, and wondering why you bothered.
Graphics are good. They could be better, but there is nothing wrong with them other than being a little sparse. The LIs are quite stunning, and the variety there will probably mean everyone can find something they like. Probably several. Quality has greatly improved over time and retroactive improvements have been constantly added to earlier content without infringing on the length of the update cycle. Animations are decent but used more sparingly than in some other games.

All in all a top notch game I recommend to everyone.

5/5 The story is just beginning, and it's clear that this game will continue to be impressive. My only significant complaint is the animations; they fall short when compared to other popular AVNs, and it's quite evident that they are not of the highest quality. However, the compelling story and strong writing compensate for the animations' shortcomings. The girls are also very cute and beautiful.

This unfortunately suffers from a lot of the issues that a lot of HS2 games suffer from. Bland faces that blend together between models, overglossy eyes that are enormous, torpedo tits, etc. The biggest offender is that the eye posing rarely ever actually changes, and the girls never actually look as though they're looking at you unless they are forced to. Always the MC's solarplexus or collarbone.

That aside, it looks like an HS2 game. a lot of the models are pretty indistinguishable from each other by appearance. There's a lot of girls in this, too.

Their personalities are different, but they all more or less convert to the harem mindset.

The MC is a sleazebag but at least does have a good general intention.

The animations are very slow for some reason. I suspect a critical bottleneck on the devs' machine, but perhaps I'm wrong. I've played HS2, and derivative games before, and this game's sex anims are playing at like, 30% speed.

I think one of the strong points for this game is its writing. Aside from the sleazebag MC, things do pop off at a good pace, and the choice to make it a kinetic novel was perhaps a wise decision. The different story strands start to converge later on, and while the premise is not unique, the execution of the story is done quite well. It's quite compelling.

If only the graphics, anims, and poses matched this level of quality.

Note the kinetic novel- and male domination tag. This is less of a game and more of a story. There are choices, but they are just scene variations. Also unlike a lot of other harem games the MC isn't a blank slate but a fully fledged character with his own values and motivations. He doesn't do anything morally reprehensible, but he might make choices you don't like. So if you don't like male domination this probably isn't for you

That being said I highly recommend this game. The best thing about this game is the writing, more specifically the characters. The plot is fine, the worldbuilding is minimal but the interactions and banter between MC and the girls are great and where the game truly thrives. Speaking of the girls this game has a wide variety of them. Each girl is unique and has their own quirk that makes them stand out. I actually like all of them except 1(you'll know). They also vary in looks and theres body types ranging from petite to busty, so theres something for every taste.

On a more meta note I really enjoy that theres a new update every 2-3 months with enough content that would take other games 6 months. The dev is even active in this thread too. So if you want to support a game that actually gets regular new content, with a passionate and hardworking dev, I would recommend this one.

This game was surprisingly good! It doesn't look as pretty as some of these games and the lighting could use some work but the story is great! I really enjoyed all of the characters and I'm looking forward to seeing where it all goes.

I usually try to list out several pros and cons when reviewing stuff on here but after rewriting this multiple times all I can really get down 100% is that I really enjoy the writing and "voice" put into all the girls and your interactions with them, which sounds a little silly because that should be part of any writing but I see it less often than I would like.

I had this discussion with a friend recently about how harem tagged content can either be vapid point A to point B half a brain interactive doujins or they can go a few steps above and actually dig into the dynamics of how a harem can work and the sorts of interpersonal dynamics that come with that sort of lifestyle choice, and I was very happy to find that this was comfortably in the latter.

People step up into roles knowingly or not to help make the family unit run properly and seeing that slowly play out and grow has always been my favorite part of any harem focused story whenever someone decides to actually try and tackle all those different feelings that would normally be hidden away. I am also enjoying the political mind game shenanigans even if it is not my main glowing highlight. Was very sad once I get to the end of the most recent update. Will waiting on pins and needles for this to be finished so I can see it all from start to end and can throw my money at it.

Cosy Cafe can be described by one phrase - Great game!

Here we have truly exceptional mc. Not a shy loser, pushover, spineless little bitch etc. But strong-willed, with principles and brains - these qualities is great rarity in mc's nowadays.

Graphic not incredible but still nice. Girls have traditional beauty, natural nice bodies and even greater personalities. Girls here is realy great waifus and deserve from mc to conquire/care/support/fight for them. No skanks, troublesome idiots, cunning bitches, rude prostitutes etc to whom mc's simp with great force because they tell him some sobby story or smth similar and he aready forgives everything, deals with their bullshit and supports them in everything.

MC knows that not everyone by default deserve nice attitude. He have selfrespect, stands for himself and his girls against anyone with ill intentions/attitide, he can threat or insult some skank if needed. He helps, cares, supports his girls and thats why its so easier to believe in this harem story, because player can see why exactly girls like him and why they accept his polygamy.
