It would be nice if there was a way to dial up how active NPCs were towards the player character. It sort of feels like it's all on the player to dictate the pace of everything while, outside of a few scripted events, NPCs take an entirely passive role. There's no, for example, NPC waving down the player to come hang out at the mall, cafeteria, or bar. The phone calls to hang out address the issue slightly, but they don't seem to happen very often and the interactions are very limited.
It kind of feels like the NPCs are just an amalgamation of data points. Like, you can keep adding more traits and descripters with each update, but that's just adding more data. Having the NPCs show up at different places at different times is neat and all, but that's just shuffling around the data. It doesn't feel like the NPCs are actually doing anything.
