Ren'Py Creating a new game, need some suggestions

Hi!
First off all I'm new to the forums, been lurking a while before but didn't post and only registered just a while ago.
I guess I'll be here more often from now on, since I have decided to make my own game for which I need some suggestions.

To get this straight, I've been making some smaller games before but didn't officialy release anything and also didn't use ren-py like I do now. I have been modding a few games like skyrim and fallout and I have some coding background, even though its been a while...

I have started to write the story I have in mind in ren-py (its quit simple actually), but I'm still considering which program to use to create the characters and animations.
I know there are some great programs like Daz3d or the iClone character Creator, but I have never used such programs before and I'm not sure whats the best choice for me.
All I need for the game are some pictures of good looking chars, maybe some animations here and there, but thats all.
Any suggestions?

I have thought about 5 chars the pc can approach. First is the mom (yes, incest), second and third will be twin sisters, fourth is a teacher, and the fift is the one I'm not sure about. Maybe its going to be a random encounter, another (indirect) relative, a friend, or maybe even some kind of fantasy being (if its manageble to include this into a relatively realistic scenario) or what ever...
I'd be glad about any suggestions here too.

i like the foreign idea like some asian chick ..but a tutor should be 30+ and since the game focus on the mom/sister i don't want the mom to be 50+

Haha, I like the idea. But I dont think that will fit in the story without changing some major parts:coldsweat:

@Dipsode Thx, but I excluded MakeHuman already. I dont think the character models can reach the quality I want for this game.
The corrupt cop idea is not bad though, I'll keep that one in mind.
I thought about a char who is mischievious to the pc, too. That corrupt cop would fit to that.
Maybe I'll go with that, but maybe we can find an even better idea

Always be asking yourself, how can I make this image sexier. Even if it's only two people talking. Sometimes bro, she just has to be wearing a sexy outfit. Even if the reason for her wearing it doesn't make sense. Give me something to fap over.



Obviously start with the original outfit you were thinking of but then switch the outfit to something crazy sexy. Chances are the crazy sexy outfit will win. Normal clothes should be used for background characters (if possible). Sometimes damn it you just need the character in normal boring clothes. Provided your building up to her wearing something sexy, eventually. Sooner rather than later of course.

I had the same question about what software to use. I played a few games and figured out they were mostly using Daz and Poser to make them. So I got Daz and just taught myself (still learning). There is a lot of content for Daz (and most of it is available on this site and others). If you want to do it legit and pay for everything you use, it's an expensive proposition. Also, rendering requires a pretty good PC unless you want to let it sit there rendering forever. So your PC specs are a consideration as well. As was mentioned, the Studio software from different Illusion games are halfway decent. Their engine seems to get better whenever they make a new game.

I would say you should go for Daz studio, but it is up to you. I never had any experience with 3D modeling/rendering of 3D enviroments, but I was still able to make some simple Daz scenes, just after watching a few videos on youtube and going through the Daz tutorial.

As for the 5'th character: The simplest thing would probably be to make it a neighbor or perhaps the classic "popular girl at school", which would perhaps open up a threesome with the teacher at school or something.

Thanks everyone for all the replys so far. I played a bit with Daz and think I go with it. It's relatively easy to get a halfway decent looking char with a little bit testing:
(just a test, not related to the game)
Rendering took about 10 minutes without any background and only some lighting added.

I bought some body shapes and morphs already, but the content packs are quite expensive... does anybody know where to get some free clothing and hairstyles?

As for the 5th char, I want some kind of special character, being a neighbor, or classmate would be the kind of ordinary stuff I wanted her not to be^^

well there is no shortage of good incest games so you really got to come good or go home (my top list is Dreams of Desire, SummerTime Saga, Love and Submission, My Sweet Neighbors, Milf City and a few other games) what most of these games have in addition to a good visuals/ art-style is that they got different stories that feel right and get ppl invested into the storytelling.... its not just making a crappy porn game and ppl will give you money (2yrs ago you could've gotten away with it) but now because soo many ppl want to cash in on that cash cow we got tons of adult games and if you're good then you can make money...

Honestly, I'm not in for the money and this game will only partially be about incest (you can avoid it completely).

The reason for my decision to make a game is:
I played some of these games you mentioned (loved DoD), but i always felt like something is missing.
Most of the games are only focused on one thing (incest or no incest), one character (or all caracters at the same time), rape, love, or what ever (DoD is actually a good example of how to do it right, Parental Love is a good example too, but still...).
I played a lot games where I wished I could do something else then what I was supposed to do.
Also when you finish most of the games story, then thats it. Maybe you can play again and have a little bit different story, but still, thats it.
There are not many games where you can play around and do stuff after you finished the story.
That's why I decided to make my own game (well, atleast I try). Not to make a cash cow XD

Glad to see your going for Daz and that you liked the style of DoD, suggests you'll be going for an arty type render composition like Sin does/did which is in short supply in the Daz department Ren'py (particularly done well)

As for character #5 i've got a couple of ideas to throw out there:
Jealous girlfriend, finds out about the incest and for one reason or another gets involved, she could easily be the small boobs envious type.

Assuming your main character is still living at home you could have a foreign exchange student lodging with the family, this would maintain the useful "under one roof" thing that incest provides.

another option is adding a character that directly relates to an activity that the main character does, particularly that earns them money or an activity that would otherwise be a grind. for example, say that your character earns money by working as a delivery boy, having a girl that works at the same place as the dispatcher or alsa on delivery gives you a way to make the grind less arduous and feel less tacked on.

As for a modern setting supernatural character i can think of a few options that could fit:

A modern witch type of character who runs a health food store as a front for her alchemy/magic store. i like this one because it gives you way of getting access to stuff like aphrodisiacs that would make the incest element more interesting.

Any sort of concealable sidekick type character is workable and has a track record of being interesting, the apparition in DoD, Belle in Long Live the Princess and Cass in time loop hunter spring to mind. You could quite easily go for something like a ghost girl who has no memory of her death, would make a nice sub plot, potentially she could possess girls giving you an excuse to let them do scenes that would otherwise be out of character, leading eventually to her murder being solved or the MC getting her body back or some such.

My game has undergone quite a few revisions. Here are two character concepts I abandoned because I switched from Genesis 3 to Genesis 8. Both are custom (not standard Daz models) using morph dials but I have the specifications for them.
