Use the mousewheel while in the unlocking screen.

ive scrolled throught the entire locking screen and clicked nothing works

First. you need to click a few things to progress

1. the lock
   
   
2. the bed
   
   
3. the rat (and everything around it)
   
   
4. items under the bed
   
   
5. the lock

Second. now you can move things under the bed by dragging to the left or right. After you moved things around under the bed you find something, after you find it you need to go back to the shelf and click the bracket.

The issue with the lock picking game is that it's dependent on the games running framerate. at 3000fps the lockwheel doesn't move, I limited the game to 30fps and it became so easy.

Moving the prison door bars/grabbing her cuffs is also framerate dependent but the other way round, the higher the frames the easier.
