I backed this game back when it was on Kimochi and dropped after about a year. The development since then has been glacially slow. It would have been far better if he just finished the game, and then did a Crisis Point: Extinction Deluxe.

I haven't played the game again in some years because I really want to enjoy the finished product, but I'm pretty sure there hasn't been any new zones in all those years; just reworked old content and UI's.

I think I'd take a bet over Anon finishing his game or Yandev finishing his first.

Yeah, I havent seen an update on his patreon since ~August, theres been a lot of posts of him talking about how long it takes for him to update the game. I guess we just have to wait and see where this goes in the future?

Just pointing out that some is riding money and doing nearly nothing for it.
Do you have a contract demanding X number of hours of programming work per hour for Y amount of dollars per hour with Anon42? Are you their boss? Can you write them up or fire them for underperforming?

No?

Then be quiet. You aren't contributing to the thread or conversation. If you are so damn annoyed with the "lack of progress" then ignore the thread.

And, let me be clear. Crowd-funding does not mean contributers are Anon42's boss either. The contract is this: "I want to make this thing. If people like the idea and can contribute, it will help me produce the thing." That's it. They are giving their updates on the platform, so they are upholding their end of the agreement.

Posted with Flu A-strain, a 101 degree fever, and just being so damn tired of the fucking whiners who are jealous they don't make the imaginary amount of money the game developers can through crowd-funding.

How dare you people expect any amount of progress after giving them money so they can.. work on the Project and make meaningful progress?
JAvatar has never heard of investors or expecting some kind of return on money when you're promised something. Contract or not.
Yes, I supported the Patreon for a good while when the updates were frequent and meaningful. But since the Slowdown at v.045-0.46 and the absolute nothing-burgers that update v.047-v.048 were, I stopped doing that.
The 50th story rewrite or reworking gameplay elements instead of progressing the game in a meaningful way with new Zones, new Enemies, new Items, new Scenes. You know, actual content? Not just some bloody recolor feature.

What have been the other members of the Team been doing? Orexius the Animator, Green the Sound Designer, Red the CG/Character artist, Puffernutter the Environmental Artist. Have they done nothing in the past few months that is worthy of showing off or teasing? Most recent discord screenshot updates have Orexius working on new scenes, and it's understandable that they want to keep it a secret. But a tease, a hint, something to look forward to?

Idk maybe it's time for someone else to direct the game if your personal issues are grinding the entire project to a halt if you're the only coder.

The least Anon could do is give Monthly Updates. Which they did for a long time. But the last two were every 2nd month in August and October respectively, so they couldn't even do that minimum amount of effort.

This is the type of shit that got The Initiative shut down when it turned out that the Studio fucked around for 4 years with only a vertical slice to show for.

Also why tf are you spending your time here when you're sick? Go watch a show or something and rest.

Patreon is explicitly not an investor relationship. It's based on Patronage, only instead of a rich guy funding the artist and hopefully good art comes out, it's crowd sourced. Thus the name. If the artist no longer has your faith that they will produce good art, you're under no obligation to continue funding them. Or, for that matter, to follow a Piracy Thread about the game; the unsubscribe button is right over there.

The thread exists to talk about everything surrounding the Dev and their project. And people have the hope that maybe someday Anon starts being more productive again. But given how they have such diehard defenders like you around that supply them with $5,820 a month, I kind of doubt a miracle is going to happen. More people would be open to talk about the game if there was.. you know, progress made on it, but you seem to subscribe to the idea that you can only suck the dev's dick and never criticize them for anything.
This type of enabling is the reason why a lot of projects on this website drag out for years without meaningful progress because suckers like you allow them to get away with it.

Can't even come up with a argument to the points I raised beyond just yelling "If you don't like it, leave!!!!111!!"

First, why do you think $5k a month, before the platform's cut, is a lot of money? It's not.
Second, if you are so damn unhappy with the game, why do you stick around. "Gee Grognak, it really hurts when I stand in the fire!" Grognak replies, "Then don't stand in the fire! You won't be hurt!" "NO! I wanna stand here and bitch!"
Thirdly, I don't contribute, I don't have the disposable income. But you have a VAST overexpectation of what you are owed in a patronage style transaction, which crowdfunding is. THEY DON'T OWE YOU JACK SHIT. They have to follow the contract with the platform they are on for updates to maintain their account. That is it. If you believe in their project, donate. If you don't, which you obviously don't, THEN DON'T. And sitting in the thread on a yohoho site complaining about slow development time, or being jealous of a little extra capital the dev is making, does nothing.

What arguments have you raised beyond "I'm not happy with the pace of production and think more resources should be dedicated to making a finished product?" At least, that's the closest thing I can find to a point when you reference other people that get paid for their work.

5k a month for only having to write up a blog post once every 1-2 months is definitely more than just having Social welfare on it's own. Which the dev probably should be on if they are too depressed / have too severe health issues to work on their Project.
And again, I stick around because I have some small hope that Anon might finally get his head out of his ass and starts making some proper progress.
Since you haven't contributed, I don't see a reason why your opinion and defense of Anon has any more validity than those of former supporters. Go take a hike, your defense does nothing and doesn't put bread on the table either.

The other people I reference are The other people of the **:E Development Team. And I question what they have been doing this entire time while Anon is having a hard time.
If your boss is sick, does the entire workplace just grind to a halt without them? No, no it doesn't.

Like holy shit you two can't even read and understand the most basic-ass arguments that a middle schooler should be able to comprehend.
I'm honestly starting to wonder if you two are the same person.
You're either intentionally not properly reading and understanding the points made and a troll, or you're a dumbass.I know which one I'm leaning towards.

So you admit it's poverty level income. As for my opinion, I apparently have a better understanding of how fucked mental health issues can be since you are trivializing Anon's to "They should be on welfare." And by your own logic, you have no say in Anon's progress as a FORMER supporter because you're not supporting them either.

And seriously? You honestly think that the asset creators are going to be able to put the project together? You honestly think the project lead and primary programmer not being able to work doesn't grind the whole project to a halt? If the animator has done all the animations up to current, and is waiting for direction and new animations which aren't yet visualized, what exactly do you expect them to do? The sprite designer can implement more color changes, but until they have new sprites to make, that's about it, and that's something people complaining about the lack of progress complain about, just recolors.

So let me make my point again: You are wasting YOUR time bitching about things you have no control over. You can ignore the thread and come back in a year. You obviously have written Anon off because you pulled your funding. But if you want to hang on the yohoho site's thread for the game, then just be fucking quiet, because you're contributing even less to the discourse than I am.

The reason people here, myself included, are unsatisfied with the lack of progress is not because of some arbitrary "oh indie development takes time" or "he has mental health issues, guys", it's because years ago, before the stupid "Great Rework", a major update meant:
2 or 3 new enemies
either half of or a whole a new area
1 or 2 new powerups

That's not the case anymore. New content is just barely being developed in favor of reinventing their own wheel over and over. I mean look at the changelog for 0.48. The "Great Rework" was supposed to be over in 0.33, but they're still reworking shit.

This game should have been done years ago. The "Great Rework" was a mistake, and the effort behind it should have been its own game.

Yet another case of dumbfuck-itis

Patreon's cut at max is like 17%, so they lose out I guess what little over $850 a month which at it's current state still has them shy of 5k a month? Even at 5k a month with a 50/50 split between Orexius and Anon42 still comes out to each of them making ~2.5k a month; I can only assume that Orexius actually works a job and has a far smaller cut of the earnings than Anon does, and just so you are aware, they were at one point making 8k a month.

More than five thousand a month in the US is not poverty level income, it's quite literally the average household income in the US. I can assure you they are not in poverty because uhh... Anon has a wife, and he was able to take break for god knows how long where his income from Patreon did dip down due to the whole depression bit.

Consider the following that Anon has very thin skin when it comes to anything negative; I would know this because he archived a bunch of channels because they were always "toxic" on the Discord and he didn't want to see bad words because they made him feel bad. He ran away from the ULMF thread citing "the toxic 1%" despite literally everyone in that thread being cordial with him because it's almost like... Anon isn't cut out for this sort of stuff, I guarantee you he'd have a fucking conniption over this thread with how "mean" we are.

Yes, the project has ground to a halt more than three times now due to Anon either having to step away because of mental health reasons, burnout, or some other reason. The latest one was an actual reason for it considering you know... It involves real issues that are life threatening if the necessary precautions are not taken.

Take your own advice, and take a fucking hike from the thread, people are here to discuss anything about the game, not hear someone preach from the "holier than thou" choir that seems to permeate here with people who have no grasp on why people are here bitching about it in the first place

hint hint hint it's because the only other place you can actually talk about the game is Anon42's Discord, but as we all know he's super thin skinned so any negative talk about the game itself is quick to get you banned.
