Curious how everyone names themselves in the games they play

Basically, I'm just curious about people's tendencies towards naming their character in a game. Do you just leave it with whatever the default is, if there is one? Do you come up with something each time, perhaps to fit with the setting of whichever game you happen to be playing? Do you just use your own name, or one that you like? Do you make any exceptions for any of these?

For my part, I prefer to use my own name, but... I have an extremely common name, as in, a name that's been among the most popular English names for literal centuries... So I occasionally end up having to make concessions to avoid weirdness. The number of times I've had to rename my character after finding that there's another character in the game that was given the same name... Well, it's not a lot, but it's happened often enough that I've taken notice. Sometimes it's not a big deal, but sometimes it leads to such a disconnect that it's unacceptable.

Anyways, yeah, I'm just interested to hear folks' feelings on naming their character(s). Oh, and if any devs want to chime in on their thought process for how they choose NPC names in their games, that'd be interesting too!

For me depends on the type of game I'm playing if its a male mc game without any ntr or cuck stuff or its 100% avoidable then i use my own name if I'm playing a female mc i use the female variation of my name if on the off chance im playing a ntr/cuck game which i don't play that many of not really my genre i use a name of someone i dislike in real life

Do you have a checklist of things you look for in people or is this just a random attempt to feel better about yourself?

Well, the names don't really matter to me, pretty much every game I have played where I have to enter a name, and the game doesn't offer a default name, it really depends on my mood.

Name I used most often: Fucklet
No idea why, I just like it and it doesn't matter if I am playing a dude or a chick as the MC, they get dubbed Fucklet.

When I am 'in a mood', they get less flowery names: Fucktoy, Rapetoy, bitchboi, cumdump, cocksleeve, broodmare, and other colorful and degenerate names.

Most recently I have taken to naming the MC: Hobo Fucker.
Dude or chick, doesn't matter. Why? It's just funny as fuck to see NPCs saying shit like 'Hey, its Hobo Fucker. How ya doing?'.

Seriously, though, I just name my characters "MC". I am not a self-inserter, so I don't name them after myself.

Makes sense, I suppose. That last part in particular sounds... Cathartic, if not entirely healthy. XD
