Wolfz decided to spend time and money to try and stop piracy, and specifically called out Weiss.
I think he is doing that because the patreon costumes got cracked. The dev didn't seem to mind the cracked versions before Weiss cracked the costumes.

i'm ok with that. CA1 was kinda ruined for me since i finished like 50% story before hand and since then havent had the will to try playing the dang game to completion. this is why i havent played the story of CA2 since the 0.2v. the original chinese one.

Well, their patreon started in Feb 2016, the last update listed in the CA 1 thread is March 2018, so 2+ years, since I don't know how far they were into the game when they started their patreon campaign (first version on patreon posts is something like .43)
