Very gory game (It doesn't bother me as an avid Mortal Kombat/horror movie fan but it doesn't arouse me either so whatever) but the designs are top notch, iuui is a VERY talented artist, as far as the gameplay here: its actually decent-ish, lots of insta-death traps and enemies with elaborate one-touch death sequences although most of the game is just walking to the right and killing whatever enemies stand in your way with a gun and some light platforming its still worth giving it a shot for the aesthetics alone. If you're into this type of stuff I can recommend it, squeamish about blood and guts? steer clear.

    Anywho

Incredible quality in this game. The main characters are sexy, the DEATH scenes are amazing, and the sounds and lighting are far better than they need to be.

Rating 5 stars on quality alone. Seriously, this is the most polished game Ive seen on this site.

However, the game loop is pretty simple. As linear as a straight line. Seriously just hold right to progress. The gunplay is very introductory as well. Its simple, like the dev was trying something new, and I respect it. You can dodge roll, aim, and shoot. Makes the game easy to play. The levels feel like they want to tell a purposely vague story so that you get the enjoyment of theorizing, and enemies are basically 1 at a time. More for the experience, than the gameplay.

Highly recommend. It is clear a lot of effort went into making the game, definitely more than writing. Still, I personally love it.

Not very fappable, becomes tedious, but really nice vibes.

I'm quite fond of this game. I like it's atmosphere and mood, its ability to make me genuinely uncomfortable and tense which is rare. I'm not aroused by guro so unfortunately the majority of scenes don't do much for me, but there are a few that are pretty hot.

Unfortunately it falls down big time as it goes on, devolving into long corridors with the same enemies repeated. I played on hard mode because I like a challenge, and definitely prefer the enemies to pose a threat, but with so many it eventually evolved into tedium and it became difficult to summon the enthusiasm to continue. What's more my save was bricked by an infinite death loop bug.

But at the end of the day comparing it to all the other h games out there this is one of the few with some measure of artistic integrity and intent.

Great sci-fi design, from the suits to the guns. The brutal fatalities (where you are the victim) and H-scenes are interesting, but it's a shame there are only 4-5 scenes without the 'guro' tag. Since it's a side-scroller shooter, my favorite genre, I might not be objective, but in my opinion, this is the best game I've ever played on this site.

It's been a while since I've played an nsfw sci-fi game, and this one really hits the spot. Plenty of good sex scenes from each enemy NPC, which makes me wish we got more action from each of them, to be honest. The blend of 2D and 3D is amazing too, really sets the atmosphere alongside the background art, music, and level designs. Amazing game overall!

I'm somewhere between 3 and 4 honestly... Because I think the overall design is good, but it can be frustrating at times.
The game was played on Normal for the "intended" difficulty.

So, I'll just go over the good before I go over what frustrated me. The overall gameplay, movement, shooting, dodging (for the most part) feels good. The animations are smooth, and brutal. Music is nice, art is good (The reflection in the mirror is honestly mood). The story kind of reminds me of "The Citadel" as well as aesthetics. It's definitely a high effort game and if you're OK with gore, a decent game to play.

However... What frustrates me most are hitboxes and animations. What do I mean by that?
The knife can miss bosses while they're in animations, or something because I've tried to knife the bosses while they're recovering from an animation and no damage by the knife.
Bullets only go as far as the screen so even if they're just beyond the screen, they take no damage. This is especially prevalent for big range bosses.
Some attacks come out near instantly. So if you roll early to dodge those specific attacks, they can do another attack that just roll catches you, and if you don't roll early, the bosses sometimes do the super fast attack to hit you before you dodge.
Enemies are generally fast, and so when they're small (face huggers) it's almost a guaranteed tick of damage unless you know where they are or take it slowly (which is punished by hunger). What makes it worse is that since health is limited (slow syringe regen, small amount of health, limited syringes) each hit is punishing, so even the chip damage by the face huggers can add up.
The game can also go on for a while. I felt even by stage 3 that it's just a bit long so... Yeah.

Those are the crux of the issue for me, and because they're so prevalent it really hampered my overall enjoyment of the game.

This was reviewed for v1.0. If there's a 1.1 or something that comes out that addresses these, I think the game would be a lot better. Yes yes, I know, skill issue. But genuinely, a lot of these are literally out of skill and just game mechanics or oversights that I hope get addressed.

I like this game. Animations are very clear, it's true that gameplay is like go and shoot, but it isn't a problem for me, there is a lot of games like this and it's not a reason to downvote this game. Graphic violence is also on the high level. Story is just okay, it's not the first reason for me to play

One of if not the best combat gameplay of a sidescroller H-game. Honestly, good even outside of H-game category.

Weapon choices support different play styles but are all fun to use.

Animations are solid and fluid. Perfect combo of horror and sex.
  9. 4.00 star(s)

    click_blue_please

First things first: Lots of violence, lots of death and gore. I get it, it's not for everyone (including me). With that said, the artwork is spectacular. You can tell the developers really paid attention to the lore and world building, everything is animated beautifully and there are very few to zero glitches (none that I could see, but others in this thread have complained so...)

Seriously, this is a great game in terms of aesthetics - but the gameplay! Oh man, it gets boring QUICK. Yes, its a classic side scroller, but it's just aim, shoot, roll-dodge and heal. There is no variety.

The enemy mobs, while all having different death animations, have very little variety in terms of attack. I wish they added some sort of mechanic where the player could see a H-attack occur and try to break free. Maybe hypnosis, and corruption. But no, you just lose health and once you die the death animation plays.

Overall, 4/5. I can tell the devs really polished it to near-perfection but the original piece was lacking in some much needed H-content.

    Gabn05

    Overall, it was fun.

I am going to start by saying that I cleared the entire thing in one go, so I did not experience any of the save file corruption bug. Keep that in mind when reading this.(I just learned of the bug by reading other people reviews)

Having said that. Gameplay is okay, it is fun, a bit repetitive specially on stage 4(I will explain later). It is a side scroller, with guns. There are quite a few of them, shotguns, rifles, an energy pistol, LMGs, etc. You can also dodge and heal. It is okay.

Lewd wise, is also ok-ish. There is a ton of gore, so be warned. Normal CGs are ok, short 2–3 second duration, with a "death" art. It is only loose to get most of them, so that is a bit meh. There are 2 animated scenes you can get progressing thought the story, and are good. But that is about it.

My main problem is that stage 4,is ridiculous. You get from the other 5 stages between 1500 and 3000, of the game currency in mob killing. That stage was 13000, it was almost 2 hours long. 2 hours of killing the same enemies, with the same weapons. It was absolutely miserable. I was invested in the story and after that I was so burned that I did not realize who the stage 4 boss was. It was terrible. Absolutely kill all immersion and fun.

So overall, I think the art is good, gameplay is fun, and the story is superb. Nevertheless, is only loose to get CGs type of game, the stage 4 is absolutely ridiculous, and since it did not have any innovation I don't think it should be above average(3 stars) it is like an average side scroller, with a bit of a better story.

I enjoyed this game. If ur not into gyro(im not) and futa this game not for u. Have few decent futa scenes. Its pretty hard and have bug with save files(fast Esc => return to base).

    Art 4*:
Cant say much its good but not the best.

    Animation 4*:
Smooth. But need more futa=) and less gyro.

    Story 4*:
Simple but i liked it. Its do the work for me.

    Gameplay 3*:
To simple and repetitive. But i like some ammo menegment.

    Level design 3*:
I liked the first level, but after that it got boring. Too much running back and forth.

My final rating 3.5. I can recommend this game for playing.

P.S. - Oh forgot about music. It complements the game.

Purchased it and already regretting it. Has a game breaking bug that corrupts your save file. You have to beat the game in one go and that require 6+ hours. This is a full game release but the fact that it cant be played due to the game breaking bug makes its feel more like an early alpha test not a proper release. No recommendation here, avoid this train wreck.

I came across this game because the creator of beyond citadel tweeted about it. I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. Besides the amazing art this game doesn't have much going for it. Imagine beyond citadel with no enemy dismemberment, bad gun play, boring gameplay but with sex. That's what this game is
  14. 3.00 star(s)

    OrbitalTomato

Well-realized atmosphere (it managed to make me jump just with my character's shadow at some point) but it would be nice if the ratio of sex to gore would be at least similar to Sinisistar. Or better, like Anthophobia. Here it's mostly "get chopped up". Also, the enemies are used in a very repetitive way, five in succession running straight at you in a hallway, dark or lit, and the level design is rather boring and devoid of surprises.

By the way if anybody is afraid of the crack or doesn't want to set exclusions in his antivirus, I managed to run the game in Windows Sandbox (free VM that comes with Windows). Once you have opened a new sandbox:
    - Install Visual Studio 2015-2022 redistributable (search for it in Microsoft's site)
    - Run Cyan Brain
Your antivirus won't bother you since it doesn't see what's going on inside the virtual machine.
This is much safer than just running the game in your normal Windows environment, but since the the sandbox has network access, I believe that if the game contained a virus it would in theory be able to attack other devices on your network if they have vulnerabilities - not sure if Windows Sandbox has any limitations in that regard. You could always cut network access from within the sandbox with Windows Firewall I guess.
Be aware that when you close Windows Sandbox all files inside are deleted. So if you don't finish the game in one sitting, copy your save outside (it's in %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\NEKOUJI STUDIO) and next time you have to begin the process from zero and put back your save in the proper folder to resume playing.

I also tested with Sandboxie but sadly, it doesn't seem to work (and there, you have to fight your antivirus). Do share if you managed to do it. Otherwise there's always the option of a proper savable virtual machine like VirtualBox I suppose, though the initial setup is more involved.

If you approach it as a horror game rather than focusing on the hentai angle, it’s fantastic at building tension and atmosphere. However, whoever wrote the description seriously undersold it — that shameful display needs a rewrite.

By screenshots this might look good, but don’t be fooled ! it’s painfully boring.

Every level feels copy pasted. Endless corridors stuffed with about fifty enemies, almost all behaving the same way. There’s no challenge, just hold W, shoot, step back, repeat. That’s the entire gameplay loop.

If you can simply jump or roll past every enemy you know it's already bad game.

Save yourself the time and the brain cells (hehe, got it?) Skip this one!!

This review is based on release 1.00, the initial version of the released game.

    Performance: 4/5
    - First off, the controls and overall performance of the game are decent. Controls are fluid enough without the 'jank' smaller games tend to have, and I was able to get through the game with minimal stuttering.
    - Occasional bugs leave you falling through elevators, but otherwise not too bad.

    Visuals and Sound design: 4/5
    - Visuals are peak. The visuals of the background and map in particular go above and beyond the average quality of H games in general. Characters and enemies are also well drawn and animated.
    - Sound design is decent, and the voice acting for the characters are very good. Shame this isn't exactly a dialogue-heavy game, but for what's in there I have no complaints.
    - The overall sci-fi atmosphere is very engaging, with actual effort put into smaller details around the game.

    Gameplay: 3/5
    - Gameplay-wise, the game is straightforward and challenging but gets old quickly. From level 3 onwards normal enemies become bullet sponges, often taking a full 2-3 clips (base pistol) to kill. Attempting to deal with multiple of these at once spells certain doom, meaning that you're forced to slowly edge forward until an enemy appears, back off while emptying your clip on the enemy until it dies, then rinse and repeat. It becomes tedious very quickly, especially in the long corridor segments where the same enemy is thrown at you 5-6 times in a row.
    - Weapons are barely distinguishable function-wise (except for rifles and shotguns) and there are no special attacks / bombs etc to change up the static flow of combat.
    - Platforming is reasonably decent, and often more engaging than the aforementioned combat.
    - Upgrade system is lackluster. Most of it enhances your survivability, but does nothing to reduce the grindy nature of the combat. Would have benefitted from damage upgrades or unlockable skills.
    - Escaping through doors while enemies are still around in the room will leave those enemies camping the doors until you return. Attempting to return to that room will result in unavoidable damage, and a likely death.

    H Content: 2/5
    - The adult content in the game is very narrowly focused on guro and futa. Do you like those tags? If so, good for you. If not, have fun with the 2 scenes where the MC is pounded with a mechanic dildo, because that's all you're getting here.
    - 2 animated cutscenes of MC having intercourse with other characters. Both are futa, and while the quality itself is not bad, the amount of content related to the story is honestly very underwhelming.

Overall, I think it was decent as an action shooter game, but not so much as an H game. Worth a play, but if you're looking for H content you're likely to be disappointed.

    angelmongler123

This is a review for the newly released full version of the game, not the current demo version that is on this site.

If you're into guro, you might enjoy this game. If you're here for the sex and not the guro, you should probably skip this game. Personally, I am not into guro, but that should not affect the rating.

    Art:
The art and animations are really good.

    Story:
The story is about as bad as most other h-games. I don't see what the other reviews are talking about. The story is mostly just exposition dumps. The story is passable because there is not much of it, but it is by no means good.

    Gameplay and Level Design:
This is what makes me bump down the rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. The gameplay and level design sucks. It is so bad. It is still ok compared to many other h-games, but that isn't saying much.

Here is what you will do for 90% of every single chapter: You will enter a long straight hallway. You walk down the hallway. An enemy enters the screen. You walk backwards while shooting the enemy. Then continue down the hallway till you encounter the next enemy. Repeat this for 20+ minutes and you will have completed the level.

The gameplay is tedious, repetitive, easy, and boring. It feels like a chore. The level design is completely lacking in creativity. If these long hallways filled with copy pasted enemies just got reduced by like, 80%, then the game would be fine. But this arbitrary padding to make the game last longer made the game such a slog to get through.

    Bugs:
If you read some of the older reviews and comments, you will see people complain about critical bugs. I only encountered a few minor bugs during my playthrough. It seems that most major bugs got fixed for the full release.

    Conclusion:
If you're into guro, then this game will probably be worth it. If you're not into guro but you can look past it for the h-scenes, then this game is probably a skip. For reference, I have enjoyed many other games with guro, e.g. Night of Revenge, Sinisistar, Sinistar 2. But this game just has wayyy more guro than actual h-content which made me not enjoy it.

I'm personally very disappointed by this since the demo had more even distribution between h-content and guro. The vast majority of scenes added in the full release are just guro. But again, this should not affect my review so I'll still leave it at 4 stars where it was just the boring repetitive gameplay that bumps it down from 5 to 4.

Cyan Brain isn't just a H-game, it's got story and substance to it. I came in expecting to cum, instead I left with some tears. Though the hentai aspect isn't as strong as some would like, the game has purpose beyond that. Be prepared for anything.

If you're looking to just enjoy the hentai this might not be the game for you, but if you like industrial sci-fi horror (signalis) with some guro and action, this is your game.

I will start by saying that this game might be .... Nooo ..... IT IS THE BEST vore game with ACTUAL GAMEPLAY . This game mix Vore/side scroller with a quite good story at it's finest . At first you might be surprised by how the game can be THAT creative with it's level design and enemy variety . The Bosses are well made , the death animations are some of the best I ever saw .
People are saying that the game is hard ? (somehow) I personally din't feel like it . Sure sometimes it was challenging but compared to REAL HARD games it's really nothing .
This game is one of those RARE GEMS that you will only found Once and never encounter any other game like this . You should REALLY look into this and support the dev.
