1. To be honest, that isn't really required to make a Game Thread but it is effective to keep the traffic alive. Otherwise, it will be considered as "Abandoned" if this does become a Game Thread.
2. Again, not really required but first impression grabs attention.
3. You don't really need to personally know one. You just need to contact one and to look for one, home page has a "Staff" section.

1) just do it like the littleman dev, 1-2 small scene every 1-2 months
2) eye candy girls in the portrait, i mean the best looking girls or scenes
if you look the most populars games portraits, they are pretty similar
