I dunno. I've thought about putting together that kind of thing before. It'd essentially be using Twine for what it was originally made for, and there's at least one game running around on this site that more or less does that. You'd end up with something like a porn gamebook if you ended up with stats and inventories.
Of course, it kinda hearkens back to the old MUD and MUCK days. I wasn't really into those scenes in those days, but at least some of them had adult content I know. However, that was more of a typefucking thing, I think, rather than a... single-player experience. Again, as far as I know.
Nearly every popular text-based game on this site, from my experience, ends up with at least SOME visual content.
In my experience, it's choice that drives text-based games--ones that have actual gameplay, I mean, not just Twine novels. Look at things like Degrees of Lewdity. Game's early-version as heck, but there're already about ten NPCs, to say nothing of the wolf pack and just random students. Sure, not every NPC has a huge and detailed arc, but there's at least something to do with most of them.
Free Cities is another text game with a ton of things to do.
Then there's the tack that things like the eramaker games take. They kind of have "fixed" events and player-driven sex interactions. It's sorta like what Strive for Power does, although most of the era games are quite a bit more detailed. Each of them has a ton of potential characters, but that's kind more of a function of the games they're parodying--but it's a huge advantage for a porn game.
I guess the real advantage of text-based games is that you can write pretty much anything irrespective of how bad it might look if someone tried to model it in 3D or draw it.
It's pretty noisy in here right now so I'm having a hard time putting together a coherent post.
